Used to be very loyal to this store, dropping hundreds of $ here in the last several years. No more! Bought a shredder online, with a 1 year mfg warranty. Head assembly cracked in under 6 months of light use. Shipping rec't says return to store. Got the dead eye stare and the "no refunds or exchanges on any electronic equipment after 14 days" routine and a suggestion that I call the mfg or maybe Staples Online (total joke!). No apology, lots of tap dancing that only got more patronizing through the management chain. I left hating that place and absolutely will never return. BAD Management issues here, I think. read more

This is both the worst store and business in general. Their 'rewards' program is onerous to use, and they make you do all the work. Same with their rebate cards. I will never return to this store...costco, office depot will forever get my business. read more

BEWARE of the two week return policy. I tried to return a telephone after 2 weeks and they refused. The telephone was obviously a returned or damaged item. When I opened the box the battery wasn't wrapped and the wires had been repackaged. The battery would not hold a charge. I bought the phone four our business and AT&T came out three weeks later so Staples would not accept it as a return even though it was damaged only because it wasn't returned within 14 days. We spoke with the store manager, Zach with absolutely no satisfaction and I am out $65.00. I've had it with Staples and I will never shop there again. read more

Ordered in advance the pamphlets for a memorial service. The memorial service was on a saturday, and I had a scheduled pickup date of friday at noon. Arrived friday at noon, to find the copy center fulfilling a rather large order. Asked to pick mine up, and they said it wasn't ready, and wouldn't be until SUNDAY. Nearly irate, I spoke with a manager who was able to get the only person in the copy center to start a job. Come back in two hours they said. Came back in two hours, the only employee was on break. When they came back, I found out they had not even started to print the 20 pamphlets I needed. I waited another half hour for her to print the job, which took all of five minutes. Needless to say, I will NOT RECOMMEND this service to ANYONE, and am only giving 2 stars because they were able to complete the job. FYI, the service was in Crescent City, a 6 hour drive, and I was put off schedule and didn't arrive until well after dark. read more

There management is a joke. I had a receipt for a usb that was deffective, the manager told me that he could not return it because it was out of the box. Of course it was Mr. Manager. The receipt was one day past due, and they refused to return it. I did not even want my money, just store credit. I vowed to not shop there anymore, I would rather make the drive across town to Target who supports local schools. This was a very upsetting experience, and I am sure that management is and has no knowledge of what customer service is. read more

I purchased an ink cartridge here for my HP office jet. The printer reported a problem with the cartridge so I returned within 1 hour to Staples to get a replacement. I was informed by the supervisor that he would not refund a cartridge if it had been opened (how else would you know it was broken?). Additionally he told me that the cartridge was empty insinuating that I was trying to run a scam by bringing in an empty cartridge for a refund claiming it was broken. I was provided the HP support line and had to buy yet ANOTHER ink cartridge. The supervisor was rude and indifferent, I sat in the store calling HP support through 30 minutes of hold only to find out they would not help me unless I had my printer at hand to test. Opening the second ink cartridge in the store I found that both the faulty cartridge and the new cartridge weighed the same. I confronted the supervisor again and made him compare weights and emphasized that I was not trying to rip the store off, that I was just trying to avoid getting ripped off by them. He said that he thought the new cartridge might be a little heavier. The supervisor then explained only his big boss could authorize a refund and that he had just left the store. The attitude and service here are horrible. The employees seem very incompetent, the management have no interest in customer satisfaction or loyalty. Drive an additional 20 miles if necessary to shop somewhere else. read more

The MANAGER called me a liar and I was telling the truth. One of their employees suggested that I buy a particular Brother printer because he said it was a refillable one. He said "Just pull out the white plug and use a small funnel to refill with toner". I had a bunch of printers but he was so convincing that I made a decision to donate the other printers and buy that printer. The first time we needed to refill the toner NO ONE IN THE STORE WOULD HELP me TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO IT. Then I found the instructions on u-tube so I followed those instructions which did not work out. I went to Staples three times asking for help. NO ONE WANTED TO HELP!!! Today I went in and the actual manager told me I was a liar that someone told me it was a model that was refillable the ink. I approached the person who was the employee who sold it to me and he denied saying that. Most likely so he would not get in trouble. The manager actually SIDED with the employee although I was TELLING THE TRUTH! I said that I wanted to do what was reasonable with this transaction since I am now stuck, based on their sales person lying to me, with a printer that needs toner cartridges now instead of what I was told would be a continuously refillable cartridge one! I asked for half off the new cartridge because the one I left there was full of toner and I was not able to use it as it was. He said he would give me 20% off the purchase of a new cartridge. That was a horrible answer by this manager. I felt like I had just been slapped after spending so much time working on this. So I ended up paying $40.00 and I told them I would NEVER be back EVER. Based on this they are losing money ---thousands I usually spend each year in their store and in their printing department. Who, as a manager, believes their employee and basically calls the customer who is telling the truth that they are not telling the truth? I will NEVER go back and support that business. I hope hundreds or thousands of people read this because one thing I learned in business is that "the customer is always right" and to err on that side especially in this case when I was telling the truth. IF I could give them a zero stars I would have!!! read more

AAA+ service from Andrew W who special ordered a product that is on their website, but not in the store. He even arranged to have it shipped to my home in two days free of charge. All with a smile and professionalism. read more

I bought a blender from the store and after a few uses it started to smoke so I returned it to the store outside of the "14 day" return window. I never noticed the policy, and now that I am aware of it I will NEVER shop there and hope I can influence others to do the same. If a product cannot operate after only 14 days you shouldn't buy it, and most of all a business should not be able to operate if it sells goods that can't pass this threshold. The store manager, who was crude, inarticulate, and unkempt tried to chastise me in line for attempting to return the faulty goods. People, shop somewhere and with someone who respects your hard and dollars and let companies like this go belly up!!!! If you can't provide respectful, and well trained/presentable customer service you don't deserve consumers hard earned dollars!!! Don't believe the hype, you have choices read more

I like going to Staples. But I am disappointed with the rebates they offer. I purchased an item back in 11/13. I was suppose to receive an $18 rebate of which I have not received till this day. I chatted a few times with the rebate customer service, I called the rebate service a few times and I requested to speak to a supervisor, I still have not received a response from anyone. I e-mailed the rebate service and I still did not receive a response or the rebate. I went to Staples on Cleveland Ave to see if a manager could assist me. (I was on my lunch.) He went somewhere in the back to to get the phone #. I waited for approximately 10 minutes, I left because I had to go. I am so totally dissappointed. I will be reporting this to the BBB and whomever, I can report it too. read more

We usually go there for our kids' school supplies. They have a really good selection. Always have the ink cartridges I need, office supplies, computer needs. They even have locks there. But! the customer service is not always available nor is it good. The staff sometimes peeved if asked for help or they don't know the answers to any of your questions. Once when I was being rung up, the cashier pulled his phone out of pocket, texted, then put his phone on the counter. He got another text and attempted to pick his phone up to answer. I stopped him and told him to put his phone down and that the people in his line were the only people in his universe at that moment. They get 3 stars for having a good selection of products. read more

We were given a 1 year old computer and I took it to Staples to have it cleaned up. We then donated it to VVA chapter 223 who needed a newer computer. They were trying to download Windows 10 and got locked out. Somehow, I was the administrator and of course, could not remember the password - it had been months since we first took it to Staples, Waited and waited for Jamie to return from lunch, but Chester came to the rescue and removed me from the computer and unlocked it for the Vets. Thank you Chester for not charging us and for getting the computer up and running! read more

I've been to this store over the past few years and have always experienced good service, helpful and courteous. The last time I was there I was working on one of the "self-help" kiosks as directed by their staff and had a few questions. I was surprised to find that my questions while answered seemed to be an annoyance. I'm hopeful that future experiences will equal my earlier ones. Self-help is great, good customer service makes all the difference. read more

On January 8th, 2014 I brought a question into Staples about my computer (Staples on Cleveland Ave.Santa Rosa.) The computer was running fine, but suddenly a message on the monitor was saying that it could not find a signal and nothing would appear on the screen. My husband was assured by a "tech" named James that he could absolutely guarantee that our mother board needed to be replaced and that then the computer would work. He said it would take 1-2 business days to get the part and we'd have it back. That began two weeks of the worst run-around I have ever gotten from a business. After 2-3 days I began calling to check on it. I received so many strange stories from different people and many "I don't know anything about it." also. With much prodding they finally said they'd ordered the wrong part then sent it back. But that no onehad made any notation of that and that without my calls. my computer could've set there gathering cobwebs forever! Absolutely no one was taking charge or following up. The next story was that I needed a very specific motherboard and that none other would work. They supposedly now ordered it, then for nearly 2 weeks they claimed it just wasn't coming in with their parts orders. Finally someone named Noah finally agreed to begin investigating the situation. He called to tell me that it was back-ordered, however days went by and no sign of it. I insisted that Noah call his distributor and there was little information to be had. Finally, yesterday Noah called to tell me that -bad news- the specific motherboard we'd been waiting for was no longer even being manufactured. And he explained that they now would need to order a totally different motherboard and that since it wasn't specific to my computer, it probably meant that once they installed it, they would have to reload all my programs and I would have to buy certain programs all over again such as Word, to be installed. He stated that he had no idea what this would end up costing, but would be very expensive. I let him know that I had no trust or confidence in his company at this point and would be down to pick up my computer immediately. At 3 pm I called a computer tech I've used in the past who is very competent and honest. He came to my home at 6:30 pm. By 7:30 pm my computer was up and running perfectly. Without even beginning to work on the computer, he told me it was highly unlikely that the motherboard had died. He said that it was likely just a minor part that needed to be replaced-a Video Card. Sure enough when he open the computer, he was able to tell that Staples had not even pulled the video card to check it. He replaced it with a new one and had the computer running within the hour. He charged me a fraction of what Staples had insisted we pay ahead of time those weeks back. Its amazing to think how that nightmare may have continued. Perhaps weeks more of Staples holding my computer hostage, installing a new motherboard. loading programs and then it still wouldn't have worked because it simply needed a new Video Card!!!! All I can say is NEVER trust Staples to touch your computer!! If you must go in there stick with buying staples and copy paper and nothing else!!! read more

SORRY STAPLES ON CLEVELAND IN SANTA ROSA, YOU JUST LOST A LOT OF BUSINESS. I have shopped this Staples store from the day it opened. I purchase all my supplies/equipment, as well as my clients from this store and Staples.com. THAT IS, UNTIL TODAY. I was treated rudely by the assistant manager J.P. I am a bookkeeper and I use a lot of ink. Especially during tax time. So, I buy quite a few boxes at a time for convenience. For the first time, one of my HP inks was defective. I called Staples.com and was told to go to the store I purchased it from. They gave me the ID # of the purchase and told me it would not be a problem to exchange it for a new box. That was not my experience at all. Right away I was told "NO return" by J.P. because I had not brought it back within 14 days. Honestly I was not aware of any return policy because I don't do returns. But, this was to be an exchange for a defective item, not a return. And if I can't purchase in bulk, and bring back a defective item after 14 days, then it's inconvenient for me to shop at Staples. I explained all of this to him and again J.P. told me the policy was 14 days on any return. Not only was he not helpful, but he had a cocky attitude and was very condescending. Really took me by surprise. I asked him if I should start shopping at a different store, and he told me, "Fine, go ahead." OK J.P., I will. After leaving the store I called Staples.com and they told me that is not the policy for a defective item. AN ASSISTANT MANAGER LIKE THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS. I HOPE THE MANAGER, CHESTER PERDUE REVIEWS YELP. read more

Warning regarding "replacement guarantees". They are cheap, but largely worthless, and Staples is of minimal help in dealing with the warranty company. While printing labels, they stuck in the roller and the printer would no longer work. It took several hours of telephone frustration with the warranty company, who claimed that the problem was one of "abuse" (printing labels is not something I've considered abusive). The supervisor agreed that the problem was mine since the part impacted was a "consumable". Staples manager finally talked them down and I got a replacement. It took two weeks and the replacement issued stuck and entirely wavey documents. Again, warranty company, after 1 1/2 hours decided the problem was mine. First explanation was that they were sure that the ink cartridge was bad and it is, of course, a consumable. I replaced the cartridge only to get a call assuring me that the problem was not the cartridge but rather the drum (you guessed it- a consumable. I am buying a new printer- not from Staples, and not with a replacement warranty. They are not expensive if you feel like paying for heartburn. read more
