The Central Office was recommended by the campus director of my school to complete my LiveScan fingerprinting. I haven't had my fingerprints taken in years and the last time, I think I went to the sheriff's office in Marin County and had to return because my prints weren't clear enough. They offer walk-in LiveScan services and the small storefront on the east side of 4th Street was quiet when I dropped by this afternoon. The two employees were chatting pleasantly and greeted me right away when I entered. Rachel spotted the forms in my hand and guessed correctly that I was there to have my fingerprints taken. Sure enough, like I've experienced before, the first try was unsuccessful. I don't have pronounced ridges on my fingers apparently, but they had a gel that she asked me to rub on my hands and the 30 seconds later we were good to go. Second time was the charm! I'm happy to report that my school covered the costs, so I wasn't privy to the charges, but I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I also checked and found that they offer private mailbox services and can ship via UPS, FedEx and DHL, so the next time that I'm on that side of town, I'll definitely remember them! read more

Lester, in response to your reply, your associate was rude and defensive from the moment I called, I even thought I had a wrong number with her monotone and rude way of answering the phone and had to call back. I didn't even have time to press her for an answer. She hung up on me. You must not have read my last message to you three weeks ago as I had stated that I didn't care to point the blame at anyone as your employee was rudely defending herself and denying everything. I simply wanted to know what the next steps would be and how to solve this problem but she hung up before I could finish asking that. Then refused to answer when I called back. The last known whereabouts of that package was at your store. You told me in a private message that it was picked up at 2:30 pm but you refused to show me receipts or proof that it was picked up. You failed to answer the questions I had asked in those private messages. You failed to follow up with me to try to de-escalate this problem. But your concern about your associates feelings rather than a customer's satisfaction is very telling. I had every right to be upset. The representative from the FedEx office that I spoke with today even confirmed that you let that package sit there for three weeks. Seems like she knew you've done something like that before. Yes, this case is closed. Mystery solved. You kept our package in your office until two days ago. You can deny it all again and gaslight, but that just makes you look even worse. Please do not reply to me again. *************** I am updating my previous review because I now know what actually happened to our shipment. It's a shame that I had to find out this information on my own rather than from Lester and his associates. A FedEx 2Day envelope containing vehicle registration tags was dropped off at this location on June 16. It was supposed to arrive on June 18 but wasn't delivered until July 9. During that time, my husband and I drove the vehicle from Las Vegas to Boston with expired registration tags because the tags never arrived. We carried DMV paperwork throughout the trip and worried about being stopped in multiple states. While we were traveling, I called this location to ask why the package had not moved. Instead of looking into it, the employee was dismissive, defensive, rude, and abruptly ended the call. After the envelope was finally delivered, I contacted FedEx directly. The representative investigated the shipment and informed me that the package had never left this office and was not picked up until July 7. She also had to apologize on behalf of this office and that a payment was made for $70 for two-day shipping and received it more than three weeks later. The delay itself was bad enough. Being dismissed when I called seeking help was even worse. Had someone taken a few minutes to investigate instead of acting defensive and more concerned about their associate being questioned and ending the conversation, we would have had answers weeks earlier. read more

Very last minute I was advised to come to The Central Office for Live Scan fingerprinting necessary for graduation and scheduling of state exams because the machine at my school would not take them due to dry skin from extra hand sanitizing. The paper I was given said they were available Monday through Friday and to call for Saturday. I called late Friday as soon as I was given the paper and no one answered. I checked online hoping to find more information and their website did not work. I arrived Saturday morning when they opened so that I could make it back to school to complete the paperwork an hour later. When I arrived there were no other customers. I politely explained my situation. The clerk said that the program was not available on Saturdays and there was nothing they could do for me. I left feeling so sad that I had spent the last two months working hard in my class to not be able to take the state exams because my fingerprints were harder to take. I called another location and explained my situation and they said that they would make an exception for me and to come in. Thankfully the other location was kind and compassionate which allowed me to complete my paperwork for graduation and sign up for the state exams. I do not recommend this location. Came here to get my father live finger scannings for his immigration process. And they denied his passport because it's not a state identification. Mind you these live finger scanning are used for immigration purposes obviously. Please stay away from them. Very unprofessional. Not very valued as a customer. There's other facilities that accept foreign passports. I believe that is a form of identification. read more

The only time I've ever had something damaged by UPS was when I shipped it from here. I told the guy it was a guitar. He nodded then took it and literally threw it on his pile of boxes, I couldn't believe it! It was packed properly in a box but still got damaged, probably from that first throw. The female notary at the 4th street location is so rude and unprofessional it's unbelievable. She turned me away, rudely, for a valid reason but with so much attitude it offended me. When I came back with the correct paperwork, she saw me waiting in line again and right when I got to the clerk she walked away. He went to get her and came back to tell me, "she JUST went back and clocked out for her lunch I guess..." So I went to the other location and was helped by the owner who just listened with a blank face when I told him what happened. My reason for needing notary service was because my dad died, so needless to say this was an emotional and traumatic time. So I go this mail shop in Santa Rosa called #thecentraloffice to have some loan docs notarized. Paid $170. Sent them to the lender. A week later ther sent me a set set of docs and a meter saying the first set was not done correctly. I go back to to the notary and she was out sick. The owner was there and Leo saying if it was so other did they'd take care of it otherwise he was going to charge me. I go back today. Third trip there. The girl was there but they wouldn't te do the notary as they wanted to know why the first set was rejected. I tried to call lender but their store has no reception. I went iutsobut the traffic out stead too loud avd the ke get couldn't hear be and hung up. So, I go hold and call the lender. They said a certain page on each set (2) were not signed. I go back a FOURTH time and tell them that they missed a page on each set. The same page. Do the owner says it's not their fault and wants to charge me $170 again. Or charge me $60 got the one oage. I explained that I can't just send one oage. They need the complete packet. Stalemate. He refuses to make it right. I have no recourse. He got $170 out of me and the docs are useless. I called my bank and they said there is nothing I can do as I did receive service from them, even though it was incomplete and resulted in a useless document. I can get it done at my bank, but can't get in until the 21st. Total wast of time and $ but what really pissed me off was his absolute unwillingness to accept any responsibility oe ever make any attempt to make it right. An expensive item arrived damaged. TCO will not take any responsibility for their sub standard packing, insisting that I file a claim with UPS. I did supply the shipping label. However, this is not a delivery issue. It's a poor packing issue as can be seen in the photos. This package would have arrived damaged using any shipping agency. Management was unfriendly and unaccommodating. The only bright spot was dealing with one of their employees, Kayla. I had high hopes that the rest of her team would follow by example. Definitely beats going to the post office but international delivery cost my and arm and a leg (DHL) and they packaged it incorrectly (I restated many times what needed to be done) and it ended up costing me VAT for customs. If your employee would have written "return merchandise for EXCHANGE" like I asked, the receiver would not have had to pay VAT (in the end I am now responsible for that cost). Had a tough time getting a document notarized by Daniel on two separate occasions due to him feeling uncomfortable with the lack of direction from the Fairfield Traffic court directing me to notarize a paper signed by me with thumb print and ID. I ended up driving 30 minutes away to "unnamed" store have the same document notarized to prove my identity with signature, thumb prints and ID. No I didn't have much information to provide other than a slightly vague direction from the Fairfield Traffic court. The missing component of this process was a simple notary template that should have been provided to me as a customer. The other "unnamed" store had a simple template that I signed and accompanied with my signed document to the traffic court. The entire transaction at "unnamed" store took less than 20min including making copies and mailing the notarized document. A template can be googled ahead of time if the place you go to doesnt have one but I recommend to verify if the notary has a template and a clear process available. Otherwise most of my experiences here have been quick, helpful and easy location for mailing items I would have rated 4 stars easily based on previous experiences. read more

I needed a mailbox and they let me email the necessary documents to them instead of making me go home and come back with hard copies. I went in to get a passport photo. There was one person in front of me in line and it looked like he was going to take a LOOONG time. I thought "uh oh." Fear not, one of the other employees walked up and offered to help me around the corner. There is not really a service window there, but I did not care, I was glad that he was so quick to help me. I was in-and-out in less than five minutes, including, photo, payment, etc. My wife SWEARS by this place. Apart from shipping, I am not sure what she does there but she loves them (and she is a tough customer). This place is so awesome. I have been using their services for almost a year, and rely on them so much. I work for a Tax Preparation Company and mail very important documents every day. They have never let me down. Rachel and Eva are incredible. They have gone above and beyond for me on countless occasions. Not only has Rachel taken the time to answer endless questions, she once spotted an error I had made on a very important package and was able to correct it just in time. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Signed up for mail service to go traveling. $20-30 a month. They changed their rates from $3 per item forwarded to $5 per item WITH NO NOTICE. They changed their rates from 7 cents a day for mail kept over 7 days to $1.00 a day per item WITH NO NOTICE!!!! They changed all their prices with no notice. They did not charge my credit card at all for 3 months, then finally sent me a notice of non-payment and locked my account. I NEVER received an invoice or notice of non-payment. (I had been hacked while traveling and had to get a new card number.) Had I received an invoice or notice, I could have been aware of the situation and rectified it immediately. Now they want to charge me $400 for three months of service which was supposed to be $23.99 a month. Would you trust them? read more

I brought in about 200 documents (charged for 1200 pieces of paper). And to be copied onto a Thumb drive that they provide. Total bill was $460.14 cents, which I was not prepared for. There was no estimate as to what it would cost, other than approximately $5 per 20 or 60 pieces of paper (Rachel the manager wasn't clear on the cost at the time of inquiry on my way over to get the scans done). I was charged $150 for labor - $30 per hour X 5 hours. Note that most of the documents just needed to have staples removed and fed through a scanner and re-stapled and move onto the next document. Many of the documents were old or 8-1/2 X 14 and required more personal handling for scanning. I was surprised that labor would cost extra, but I figured the UPS store might do that too and that it wouldn't be that much. But I was extremely incorrect. Needing the docs for a meeting with a lawyer, I just paid it. I went thru each page of each document scanned so I could not only name the file but also to be sure each doc was scanned. Most of the documents were scanned adequately, some with minor slanting. But MANY of the documents were scanned very crookedly; some unusable. And there were critical documents that weren't even scanned; they were looked over, requiring me to go through hoops to get 8-1/2 X 14 docs onto my hard drive as I can only scan 8-1/2 X 11 at home and don't have the capability to feed many pages through. I spent the entire day today - So far at least 7 hours -- and not done yet -- going thru each doc, rescanning as necessary, taking photos, editing, emailing so I could scan THOSE docs. I called the shop and spoke with Rachel the manager and complained kindly. She apologized and said she would speak with the employee as she was rushing the job because it's a small business. It would have been good business to offer some refund or some notion of good faith. Or even offer to rescan the improperly done one. Rachel further mentioned that had she known how voluminous it was she wouldn't have accepted the job as its in the middle of their busy season. It's November 30th, not mid-December. I told her that I didn't need it ASAP and that if it took another day or two that would work as long as I knew about when so I could schedule meetings around it. I am surprised that she would turn jobs away. Additionally when I showed up, I had a very heavy bag full of documents that I had just retrieved from the bank and didn't want to leave them in the car, so I took them in with me. I could barely handle that load and then asked for help to my car with the job stack. I was told they are not allowed to leave the shop to help a customer because their boss doesn't have insurance in case an employee was hurt. Absurd. I mentioned on the call with Rachel that it is odd as the UPS store etc can help out customers. Her response is that in the future I could just have them do my jobs instead because they just don't have that insurance and it was too big a job for a little shop like that. I COULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AND WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE UPS STORE, WHICH IS ACTUALLY CLOSER TO ME, BUT WANTED TO GIVE BUSINESS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY THAT IS NOT A CHAIN. Wasn't worth it. Next time I will go to the UPS store. They're professional there. read more

This place used to be fantastic before it sold and got bought by folks with no sense of decency. I was there for 14 years. If you leave, don't count on your mail being forwarded. They want to charge $5.00 per piece of mail to forward. They doubled prices on everything and the disorganization inside the business is beyond repair. read more
