After relocating from East coast to West coast, I needed to get a post office box and fast. Initially I had established my PO box in Santa Rosa but then ended up finding the drive to be too annoying. I decided that I was going to move my PO box to this location and decided to give it a try and see how it would work out. When I arrived, the lobby was all decked out in Plexiglas and tape for covid precautions, but I was still greeted with a friendly hello from the lady behind the plexiglass. I explained to my issue to her and not only did she help me transfer my PO box to this location, but she also helped me establish my mail forwarding from my old address for free! I was so impressed with her helpfulness and her friendliness, and I was in and out of there in a flash. The location is easy to get to, right off the main road in Petaluma. There's a lot of parking on both the main lot and the back lot, and they have plentiful PO boxes available as well as drive-thru mail slots that can accommodate multiple cars. I haven't been here when it was busy but I can imagine it probably gums up during rush hour when the traffic on this road is more hectic. That said, I would definitely prefer to choose this office rather than downtown Santa Rosa any day, mostly due to the friendly people and the ease of access. read more

Patricia was amazing!!! She went above and beyond for me. I needed to mail a little box to a birthday boy and Patricia added stickers and helped make my gift look fun and beautiful!!! I am so amazed at the out of this world service that she did. Thank you Patricia!!! This is *not* our local Post Office but we drive here anytime we need to mail a package. The employees here are the nicest and most helpful we've ever encountered. Because we've lived several places, we have family all over the country and have sold items on eBay, we have frequented A LOT of post offices. This is, hands down, the best one we have ever used. They *always* tell us the cheapest way to send mail- especially if we haven't made the best choice on our own. There have been several times that we have come in and been told, "If we send it this way, it'll save you a little bit of money." They absolutely don't have to do that and we appreciate it so much. I never complain about long lines because I know they are just giving everyone the same wonderful customer service. Best of all, we've never visited this Post Office without our two year old. They always make a big deal over him- talking to him, giving him stickers or prizes and making him feel special. read more

On April 28, 2020 I made a trip to the post office on Corona Road & North McDowell Boulevard in Petaluma to pick up my mail. It was before 8:00 am, so not yet open to the public. While retrieving my mail from my PO box I heard something drop out of the other side and into the room where mail is deposited. I called out numerous times hoping someone would come out to help me, but to no avail. I then drove over to the entrance of the distribution area, hoping to see and talk to someone to get assistance. I spoke to one man as he exited the building, but he offered no help. He suggested I would have to wait until the Post Office opened to get assistance. I couldn't do that as I had groceries in the car that needed to be refrigerated ASAP, so that was not an option since the 9:00 am opening was over an hour away. Then a lady exited the building. I explained my situation to her. She was MORE than happy to help. She walked all the way over to the main entrance. When she came back to my car she told me nobody was answering her calls to them either. So she went back into the distribution building and was able to get someone's attention. Then she walked back to the main entrance again. Shortly after that another lady came back to my car with the missing piece of mail, as the lady who had gone out of her way to help me left to go to her car. The piece of mail turned out to be a magazine, but I had no idea what had dropped on the other side. It could have been a very important and time sensitive piece of mail. This kind lady went WAY out of her way to take the time to help me. Especially having just finished her shift (and I'm sure was anxious to get home), she was SO kind to me. I asked the other lady who brought my magazine to me what this kind person's name was. She told me her name is Wendy Campbell. As I was leaving the parking lot I spotted Ms. Campbell as she was getting in her car. I wanted to thank her again for her kindness. I even offered her a tip, which she refused. So I just wanted to let people in the Postal Service and at the North McDowell facility know what a WONDERFUL employee you have in Wendy Campbell. Kind deeds should never go unnoticed. I hope my letter will reach a lot of people. Thank you, Wendy Campbell. You are THE BEST!! I can't tell you just how much I appreciated your patience, kindness, and assistance. And for being such a wonderful human being. Your one act of kindness restored my faith in humanity. read more

I was returning a book to a vendor who had advertised it on Amazon as new, but was a "seconds" with blank Pages that should have been illustrations. Although promised free return shipping, my shipping package would have cost me $18 more than the prepaid shipping label. The post person helped me by selling me a small book mailing envelope. She also unwrapped my package, cut off and taped my mailing label,weighed and shipped my poorly printed book The additional cost was minimal I was so grateful besides thanking her I decided to write this review When I moved here 18 years ago, someone told me that unlike San Francisco and Marin that people were Nice, both at the P.O. I'm not a fan of visiting any post office. I dread having to go due to the typical long lines. It really does feel like you wait in line for years sometimes, kind of the same feeling you get when you're at the DMV. So unless I absolutely have to go, I avoid going. I was oddly surprised that my visit was so quick and pleasant earlier this week. I went around 2pm and there was no line whatsoever. The lady that assisted me was such a help! I'm bummed I didn't get her name but she was very friendly, enthusiastic, and properly guided me on how to set up an appointment and get everything together to get my newborn her passport book. She asked all the necessary questions to adequately help me and did so in such a patient manner! This kind of customer service is not very common at post offices so I was greatly amazed! read more

Came today to mail grandma her Christmas gift. Thought I came prepared with a box and bubble wrap. However, I was struck with some technical difficulties when I realized I needed a bigger box to mail my package in. Us millennials aren't necessarily the best at sending packages at the post office, as we do everything online. So, when Phyllis came to my rescue and helped me send my package I was so relieved! Not only was she patient and friendly, but she went out of her way to go in the back room and find me a spare box to use. She assisted me in getting tape for the box, extra bubble wrap that she found in the back, and even a cute pink sharpie to address my box with. If it wasn't for Phyllis and her amazing customer service, my post office adventure would have been very stressful and time-consuming. I hope Phyllis is recognized for her wonderful work at this post office location! I also have to note, the line here was very short even during holiday season. All the employees were friendly, efficient and helpful. I highly recommend this post office location! read more

Small parking lot. Never enough spaces for customers to park. Probably because their lot is half filled with postal trucks and employee cars. They're also notorious for not being able find or losing packages. All with bad attitude and BS excuses. Frustrating! read more

I like this post office because it is open late, expansive and they have good area set up for self packaging and postaging. If you need to give a package or need the assistance of a USPS person, they are nice and helpful too. That has been my experience thus far. Yes, there is a line always, but most USPS locations do. I do concur with other Yelpers that I wish the "seasoned" folks would go in the AM or something during the week, when the rest of us our working, so they don't take up the line so much during lunch or evenings...no bueno:) But again, I am fan of this USPS office. I have had a Post Office Box here for close to two years now. It is kinda sucks that they don't have lockers with keys for packages like other ones do. Their is no Saturday service anymore, I think there use to be. The employees are friendlier than other post offices. The parking is decent, getting out of their if you need to make a left hand turn means you need to go right and turn around if you follow the law. Overall it is one of the better places I have been to. Given the location and size certain things I have mentioned I don't understand! But it is what it is. I would give 3.5 stars but they are nice people. read more

This review is a while in the making but I have appreciated these efficient and nice folks for the last two years since I began working down the street from them. I know, it's expected and encouraged to lambaste the USPS but this is one where I feel they deserve some appreciation. First off, they accept drop-offs all the way until 8 p.m. There is plenty of parking and they handle any lines efficiently and courteously. Oftentimes, when I am dropping off mail at the drive-thru, a mailer carrier will be there emptying out the boxes and will walk over to my car and take my mail with a smile. I've also noticed when I drop off my mail here things tend to get to their destination sooner. read more

Went into USPS Mail Post Office to use 24/7 machine to mail Priority Box. The machine took and charged me for the box ($5.20) but did not spit out the stamp. I went into the office (9 deep with 2 windows open) and asked if someone in back could come out and help with the jam up in machine. A lady came out with a cart to unjam the mailbox...Easy mixup...but the labels were jammed. She rolled her eyes and told me to come back into office to "fill out form" for a refund. I just want a friggin stamp and to go on my way...That is why I did the self serve...15 minutes later, after being acused of trying to fleece them for $5.20 I left. Our Civil Servants at their best. I left a message over a week ago regarding making a passport appt. I ended up making an appt. at a different post office location that offered earlier appt.'s. and never expected to hear back from anyone. Today I got a call back from "Phyllis" at the post office. She was the most helpful person I have ever experienced in my lifetime in the postal service ANYWHERE! I am so happy I got to speak with her even though we made an appt. elsewhere, she took the time to ask and verify that I have all that right forms completed and listed off everything necessary to take with me the day of the appt. Let me start off by saying that I have dealt with nothing but rude employees at the Rohnert Park Post office in the Raley's shopping center. Chet (works at the Petaluma post office) was so sweet to me and truly gave me the best customer service. You could tell that she genuinely loves her job and cares about the customer. This woman was so understanding and sweet to me. She did her very best to accommodate me and I am so grateful to her. The vibe in this post office is much better than the RP post office. I had to wait in line for 45 minutes as they only had two "people to wait on you. One customer service rep (if you could call them that) was "busy" trying to print a $6.00 money order and nothing was working correctly. After they decided to change area's so the one that thought she knew what was wrong (joke) I finally got to the counter for her to tell me she didn't do Passports and I was going to have to wait for the other rep to finish trying to fix her printer. Finally I was able to speak to her and asked what further steps I needed to take to complete my transaction. VERY RUDE - SHE PROCEDDED TO SAY "CAN;T YOU READ, I was so taken back, I asked again and I got the same answer "CAN'T YOU READ??????. First I was so embarrassed as the lobby was full and was in shock that a cust. service rep would talk to someone like that. Through a envelope across counter and told me I needed to mail it in." SHE DID'NT DO THAT." The bottom line I will never enter that Post Office again and I am looking for someone that I can give my statement to as to the Cus. Service this P. O. gives is unbelievable.
