Visited staples in Salem MA this evening. I have to start by saying that there is a great group of workers at this location that are very helpful everytime I have visited. Today was very disappointing, there was a girl which I wish I had noticed her name tag but unfortunately did not. She was (fairly young,had long hair/ tan complexion,possibly Asian) working at the counter nearest to the printers handling boxes and shipments. I have always had a positive experience at this location until today. I asked her a simple question and she was so bothered and rude to me as my husband was a witness. This is not how you treat customers. A lot of my neighbors/friends/& myself regularly visit this Staples location because of its proximity to home. She needs retraining with her customer service skills because they are poor and lacking experience. Please do so soon or have her working in a non-facing customer position, this way she has little interaction with customers in the store. One of my neighbors who is elderly mentioned to me she had a negative experience with this worker as well. It seems this is not unusual for her. Hopefully I will have a better experience next time as I have in the past. I plan to try to avoid dealing with this employee whenever visiting this store in the future. Staples corporate leaders should be aware of this embarrassing and offensive behavior. read more

The only thing good about this store is its proximity if I run out of something and need it right away. Multiple times, they haven't had what I'm looking for. They claim it doesn't exist or they have to order it. I once needed a patch cord to connect two different phones for a data transfer. Two clerks claimed such a cord doesn't exist. The next day I went to MicroCenter in Cambridge. A clerk found it for me in a minute. This past week, I just needed a cheap pad of legal paper with same-size paper billfolds. As it turns out, the Tru Red paper and paper billfolds only come in letter size. All the Staples brand reams were torn open and should have been either marked down or taken off the shelf for recoup. I also needed a replacement black cartridge for my Canon printer. This store only sells the combo black and color pack so I have two extra color cartridges at home because I rarely print in color. A clerk tried to tell me that I can't get the black separately until I showed him the item on the Canon website. Another clerk offered to order it for me but there was no point since I can order it directly from the manufacturer and eliminate the middleman markup. Ordered it on Saturday and I already have it 5 days later, two black cartridges that I will actually use, total cost about $10 less, shipping and taxes included, than if I had wasted money on the combo pack at Staples for a color cartridge I don't need. read more

I have come here handful of times. Each experience has been greeted by friendly staff. It's a convenient location to be able to print fax or copy some paperwork. They have any and all the office supplies that you could need at any point, but at a relatively higher price. Will continue to come back as it is close to my home. read more

I went in to buy an office chair. I found the chair I wanted and saw they had one in stock behind the chair. I asked a person who worked there if he could help me and without stopping he said I'll get someone to help you. I waited at the chair for 10 minutes. Three different people who worked there walked by and none of them acknowledged me or offered to help. The guy who said someone would come also didn't come back. I finally left after 10 minutes. Very disappointing because I was ready to buy and just needed help getting the chair up to the register to purchase. They missed out on a $350 sale as a result of their bad customer service. read more

Two issues here. Its Sunday, they just opened and no one is in the store. I have a UPS drop off and head toward the counter where the employee is located which is over past the middle of the long counter. I go to hand him the box and he says I have to where the UPS sign is located to drop off the box! Remember there is no one here. So I have to walk back toward the entrance of the store to give him a small box being shipped back. I go to get a ream of paper and wait at the designated sign to check out and there is only one person doing check out! There is now a line of people waiting and its over 5 minutes waiting to pay for a ream of paper! I hate Staples because they ask you all kinds of questions on the key pad and try to start a conversation! I just want to pay for a ream and leave! They should have a self check out like Stop and Shop. read more

Presently being 2019 I had a very good experience. I had to seek out an associate but when I engaged Mellissa about potential printer purchase we were off to a good start. Articulate, to the point great questions to qualify needs, she also explained exhange/recycle old printer options. Satisfied I returned with old printer and purchased from one of the managers whose name unfortunately escapes me at the moment. Nonetheless there it is I'm happy! read more

Add me to the list of 1-star reviews for this store. At first glance I like the recent renovations and change to the store layout, but unfortunately they didn't do anything to improve their quality of customer service. I've purchased office supplies from this store over the years, but every time I've had to interact with the staff in the printing area it's been less than a pleasant experience. After printing about 100 pages on one of the self-serve copiers I decided to mail a large envelope since I noticed on the sign out front that they offer UPS and regular postal services. So the pleasantly plump woman in the printing area walks up behind the counter and asks if she can help. I tell her that I would like to mail something. She says "Go wait over there" pointing at the last counter on the left. Instead of just helping me she wants me to wait for the only woman who seems to be doing any work with another customer. Get this - at the time there were at least three people standing around in the printing area doing nothing, including her. So instead of making a big deal I go and wait. Shortly the poor woman who seems to be delegated to doing all the work comes over and weighs my 9x11 envelope. Here are your mailing options ranging from about $6 - $20 she says. I ask how much they mark up the mailing costs because the postage should normally be less than $2. Oh, I thought you wanted tracking she replies. Naturally, I never even uttered the word tracking. In that case, it will only be $1.42. So if I had said nothing she would have gladly charged me at least 4x - 5x more than the normal postage rate. Nice. So we get through the near overcharge and she says, Oh you will have to go see that tall guy over there to pay. What? Now I have to go see yet another guy to pay out? Give me a break. So instead of the one person who could have weighed my mail, calculated the proper postage and taken my money in every bit of a couple minutes with time left over I had to deal with three different people, none of whom were the slightest bit interested in what they were doing and who had minimal customer service skills. Talk about making something way more complicated than it needed to be. My conclusion - this store has no reasonable competition in the immediate vicinity so local suckers like me keep going there out of necessity instead of driving over to Liberty Tree Mall in the hope of getting better service. It's time for the store manager to either wake up and smell the coffee and or maybe it's time for a new store manager. Somehow I doubt they even care enough to read these reviews. I went here on March 16 for printing services. The tables were soo dirty, including the big table in the center. When was the last time it was cleaned?? It's disgusting. The key boards for the computers also looked like it hasn't been cleaned. read more

Trying to get my business ready to open after Covid there were specific things I needed to be compliant Went to 10 different stores and nobody was helpful and very dismissive. Which I do understand times are tough. Went I tried staples I expected the same but the manager Bob went out of his way to help me, and even called me when the items I needed became available. This has been a crazy stressful time for me just trying to keep my business from closing for good. And people like this should be recognized. I guess I'm not the first person to dislike this store! Go elsewhere! This is my second time "trying" this store for printing needs. It's the only store I've ever been to that cannot print anything while you wait! My printing job paper was a few inches larger than the self service printer paper, so I needed it done in the back. I was told before I even said how many pages I needed that it would take a few hours. Honesty it would have been printed before I even finished this review! as I have done in many other stores before. I called the ups store in Marblehead... On my way to the nice lady who said she could even do it before I got there if I emailed to over on the way! read more

If I could rate this store 0 stars I would literally nothing redeemable. The older women at check was the most incompetent rude employee I have had the displeasure of dealing with. What a terrible experience I had there today. I tried to make color copies ($75 worth). The first machine wouldn't load the paper. (Took me 4 minutes to get a lady to help me). She said I had too much in one shot. So she took half of the papers off. Still nothing. She then told me to try a different machine. So I did, it took the entire amount (wasn't too much like she said). But 3/4 of the way through, the machine had a paper jam. Took another 5 minutes to get her back. She saw me at the desk waiting, but just didn't come over to help. She was literally just standing there. It took her quite some time to figure out the paper jam. She ended up pulling three pieces out and threw them away. I then questioned about a grey strip down the side. Her response was, "you need to tighten the sides to fit the paper. (I did). Offered no apologies for my 160+ copies that were ruined. I had planned on getting them all laminated there, but after the hassle I had, I just went back to my office without laminating them. While at my office, I realized that two of the three pages she threw out earlier, were ones I needed!!! I highly doubt I will ever return to this location!!! Tried to return a box of envelopes that i paid $9.99, but i lost receipt. Employee offered me .50 cents for the box of Christmas envelopes. She quoted me policy that no receipt, no method of payment, you get lowest price for item offered at other staple stores. If that is lowest price offered at other stores, why did i pay 9.99. read more

I was told that printing 6 pages (black and white) would take 12 hours to complete. I walked in to see if there was anyway it could be done sooner and was treated rudely by the staff who told me there was "absolutely no way" as if printing 6 pages would take more than 30 seconds. I spend over so much money here every week. I will not be returning. read more

This place is awful, the staff is incompetent, and there are extremely long wait times. And on top of all of that the sales person there sold me a printer that 1) rarely actually printed what I wanted it to, 2) on the occasion it did print printed either half of the document or printed it sideways, 3) did not print on the paper I wanted it to. read more

I decided I wanted to get my logo put on some pens for my trivia company. Kristin helped me, and she was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, the pens did not come out as I wanted (no fault of Staples, particularly because it was done from an outside company, and Staples is simply the "'middle man.") and so I have been dealing with Kristin directly through email to get the problem resolved and she has gone above and beyond. The pens should arrive any day now, and I have to say, I'm more pleased with the service I received then anything else. If you need something done at Staples, she's the lady to get it done. But don't everybody go to her, because then she'll be too busy when I need something. Thanks Kristin! read more

I went in to get my cracked iPhone glass repaired. I asked "Will this be done today?" and was told "Probably." I said "What does that mean? I need to have my phone tomorrow." Reply was "Only the manager can do this, and if he can do it today, it will be done in a couple hours." Me: "So it will be done today?" "I don't know. Probably." So I leave it and cross my fingers. When I pick it up, the Touch ID function no longer works. Tech takes into the back and checks the connection. Still does not work. Try to re-configure in settings and immediately goes to "Failed." Tech offers to send the phone away for four days to "maybe" repair it, or refund the repair price. I need to actually make calls, so I take the refund. No offer to replace the phone. Now I have to get it repaired elsewhere because of their incompetence. read more

I see from this webpage that I am not the only one that finds the staff here incompetent, rude and incredibly unpleasant to be around. I hardly ever write reviews on yelp, but I just got out of the store and I was motivated to do so by the rude kid at the checkout, who expression makes him look like he has a permanent unpleasant smell under his nose. I can not believe that this is the only place I can think of to get ink, every time I come in here I think I have got to find another store. Management socks, staff are unhelpful unpleasant and appear to have no particular amount of knowledge intelligence either, when it comes to the products that they sell. It's almost as if the strategy for the store is to find the most useless apathetic teenage boys that they can any made it surrounding area, and employ them. read more

The customer service rep - a young man - showed me models way beyond our budget (after I was very explicit about our needs) and then proceeded to tell me "you should get Windows 7 since you probably won't be able to handle Windows 8". There was a promotion to trade in an old laptop to get money off the purchase off of a new one. The associate disqualified my laptop on site even though what he was disqualifying the laptop wasn't part of the stipulations listed in the sales flyer. I asked to speak to the manager and he pretty much did the same thing. When I started explaining to him how the laptop had met all the stipulations he cut me off and said he would be right back. Six or seven minutes later after me watching him talking with one customer or employee or another I went over to him and told him I was a customer too. It just got worse from there.
