(Shopped Between 08/24/20 MO - 12/15/20 TU @ 1:00pm each time and several times before): Staples and more!
Over the past couple of years, the Glendale Staples location became my default store since I grew up in and still frequented the area after the East Hollywood location closest to me closed down. Basically, there was a duopoly of office supply companies in the industry such as Staples and Office Depot (I recalled there used to be an Office Max), so the options were extremely limited. Frankly, I wasn't brand-specific when it came to office supplies since they carried most of the same products, so it came down to prices, proximity, and customer service. Did this location at least cover these elements!?
PURCHASE
10-Ream Box Of Color Print Paper ($32.99): I missed working in the corporate world where I was able to "borrow" needed paper for my home printer. However, that was a bygone time which now left me having to buy printer paper. Frankly, this was the cheapest they had so that was all I needed. Like ice, paper was another product I hated to buy but a necessity https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=suyk0uZOqS_HerHmoJGQMg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw.
Boulder Canyon Snack Bag Potato Chips ($0.99): Placed at the end of the cash register line and during the lunchtime period, a complete impulse buy that thankfully satisfied my appetite until I was able to get a real meal; damn you for strategically placing this scrumptious salty snack https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gGdo8ny4VkPCr7yDOTUv2w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw!
Blue Labels ($6.98 x2): Honestly, I bought these in order to repurpose random envelopes I had by covering up the pre-printed addresses so I could then use them. Also, they worked well as actual name badges for various events I worked on pre-COVID-19 times https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qsrtKdeSkt2Axhnn5PR-kQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw.
Poly Envelope 5pk ($12.99 x3): Personally used for filing receipts and such for each investment property I managed for my family, these were great for any type of filing or division of paperwork. Honestly, I was a fan of the different colors https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3q3dI32x__gjoxL9m1SczA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw.
SERVICE
Due to the mandated social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19 during Coronavirus 2020, they required worn face masks, limited shoppers, and encouraged online orders for easy pick-up. The full staff were courteous, helpful, and efficient during each visit. All was grand with me!
PARKING (FREE)
Located in the outdoor Glendale Fashion Center, they shared a large-sized overground exposed and underground covered parking lot with several businesses such as Michael's, Petco, Ralphs, World Market, and more. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of street parking on most surrounding streets excluding the main drag of Glendale Ave. - 'nuff said.
ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE
A large-sized store that lacked any pizzazz but housed aisles and rows of products that could be associated with or used in an office. From copiers, furniture, printers, storage cases, standard office supplies, and more, they had it all or available to order online. And, they also had a printing and service area for copies and poster/promotional materials. Minimal natural lighting came through the front sliding door while bright electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs, but music played in the background.
ATTIRE
Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.
OVERALL
Staples' Glendale location served its purpose and did it well enough for my needs. If I didn't manage my own and family's businesses, respectively, I probably wouldn't have much of a need for various office supplies, but that simply wasn't the case. Generally, I had no issues albeit pricing seemed high (or I simply didn't want to pay for it!) and the customer service was friendly and nice. And, if you joined their free membership, you earned random promotional deals throughout the year. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $89.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS read more
