I'm not sure why the overall rating on yelp for this Staples location is only 2 stars. I've been coming here for years, and there are a lot of things I like about this location: 1. Big parking lot. If you come here by car, you will have no problem finding parking. 2. Clean and quiet. This place is always clean, tidy, and never busy. 3. Well stocked. Sure, you can buy the exact same items online, but some times I still prefer to have a look in person, and evaluate different items/options side-by-side. 4. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Any time I need to ask something to staff members, they are always helpful and nice. I have the impression that the people who work here actually enjoy their job. 5. Recycling. When it comes to recycling, NYC in general and Brooklyn in particular leave much to be desired, particularly for plastic bag recycling and electronic recycling. Alongside empty printer cartridges, you can also bring your old electronics to this Staples location, and they will take care of them with you. I'm a fan! read more

Poor customer service. I bought 5 folded cardboard boxes and asked if they could put a string around them to make it easier to carry. The cashier responded that they didn't have any strings (at Staples!) but lended me a tape to do it myself and said that he didn't want to help because the boxes belonged to me after purchasing them. The cardboards were cumbersome and it was not easy to manipulate the tape around while holding them, but I managed. The person insisted that it wasn't their job to help me and wished me a good day. Now I understand that the employee had some issues defining his job, but management should teach and explain that helping a customer with a normal request is the correct thing to do. read more

Disregard the negative reviews - I did, and I'll be back. I walked into this location at 8:30. Fine. It was 8:40. That's right, 20 minutes before closing. Having worked on retail, I know how obnoxious that is (and believe you me, I probably hard core rolled my eyes when people did it). But instead of eye rolls or a disengaged employee, I received the most patient and thorough support. I not only had to make copies, but also asked to bind said copies. Each stack was well over a hundred pages - and there were three of them! When the self serve station didn't work, the employee, Shonda, jumped right in and helped me to complete the job behind the counter. Instead of saying "you can't" she said "let's try this instead." To muster up that kind of energy at the end of a shift in retail isn't easy. But damn; I so, so appreciated it tonight. Shonda probably made my month with the service she provided. Based solely on these reviews, I almost chose another spot for my project tonight. I'm glad I ignored the reviews because Shonda was an absolute life saver. Oh, and as if it couldn't get better... she helped me WAY beyond close. I walked out at 9:45 (45 minutes after closing). I hope management reads this review. If they do, I hope they honor such a fantastic employee with such a strong work ethic. And for those of you looking to make copies and bind something, give them a try. Ignore the other reviews. I am an art teacher and came here to have affordable color prints made of a painting one of my students created. I went to the printing department where Kelsey answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgable and helpful. She quoted prices accurately and even suggested I let them scan the original artwork for better quality. I came back the next day with the painting and was initially disappointed that Kelsey wasn't there thinking I wouldn't get lucky twice with such great customer service. However, Erica was equally as helpful, patient, and knowledgable and completed the printing job quickly. The staff at this location seems highly trained with the technology they use AND with excellent customer service. I recommend their printing department! read more

This place is absolutely awful. I came here for about $200 worth of printer cartridges but had to wait so long for the one person behind the counter to get to me, I gave up. You have to get in line at the checkout to be able to pick the cartridges you want, which are ludicrously expensive anyway. Even the customer service desk had a line, despite the fact the entire store had about 4 customers. Everyone working there looks like they're imprisoned or worse as well. Miserable, fed up and looking like they'd rather be anywhere but here. I can't really blame them. This place is a living embodiment of why people shop online, and that trend is a shame. read more

It makes such a major difference who you deal with when you come. I came last week had 9 photos printed with no issue. The woman was extremely helpful and did my job quickly with no additional "express" charges. Not only was it a weekend but it was the middle of the day. I was very surprised being the reviews for this location were so bad Well today I came in before 8 am, there are barely any customers and the woman working in the copy center, Von, has the worst attitude ever. I know it's early but goodness. If you don't have a decent disposition, maybe customer service isn't for you. She misplaced the top to my flash drive (she did finally locate it) but didn't have decency to just tell me so she had the rest of the customers wait while she fumbled around. Really. It's your 2nd job of the day and your already this frazzled. Needless to say I took my job elsewhere. I will not give my $ for substandard, over priced service, delivered by a nasty person. read more

We spent a lot of time at this store today and all of the employees were *exceptionally* friendly & helpful. The cashier was an incredibly sweet young woman and I then complimented the manager, and the manager was super-nice. It turns out that she'd started out working at this store three years ago, then she became the manager of another Staples a year later, and she became the manager of this store just a month ago. (Update on 2/20/16): We went there this morning and all of the employees were *again* very friendly & helpful (at the copy center [where we had something laminated] and at the customer service desk [where we had a delightful & humorous/short conversation with the two young female workers]). Went in on a Thursday night for a print, and picked it up on Saturday. The experience was night and day. Thursday: the young woman who assisted me with a poster order was really helpful, showing me different pricing options and making sure one of my specific requests was met. Friday: I did receive a call the next morning (at around 7:30) saying they were out of something and I had to choose another option. Minor annoyance, but at least they caught it somewhat early. Pickup was simple. But the print didn't look too good. I exported as RGB instead of CMYK (my mistake, really, but I expected them to be able to do some correction since I'm sure a ton of other people do the same with the files they bring in). This also made me realize that the girl from the night before just checked off the "proof" box on the order without actually showing me anything. Didn't have time to ask for a reprint as I needed it the next day. Though, what was a great surprise to me was that online pricing can be more expensive than if you just go in store! I needed to print out a document, but the "email document" option wasn't printing after preparing the payment, and then the payment scanner wasn't working. Also, printing only works with PDFs, which it doesn't tell you, so you have to figure that out after 5 minutes of pressing "print". And if you have to print out more than 1 document then you're going to have a bad time. This place is an absolute dump. read more

This is by far the most disrespectful experience we ever had. My then fiancé and I went there to printout seating chart for our wedding. I had it set up in excel spreadsheet saved on a USB exactly how we wanted it. First, when we approached the Counter right off the bat the young worker had a major "why are you bothering me " attitude. However I proceeded to ask because it's my wedding! When I asked about the size I wanted he told us right away "no, it won't be ready on time". So just to get more Information, I wanted to know why or give me a reason that I can understand, they didn't look busy to me. He simply said " I can't skip you in front of other customers" I wasn't asking to be skipped I just wanted more info to learn about my options. So then fiancé and I started talking to each other to see our options etc. the other girl young person got Into OUR conversation and said "he already said it's not going to be on time" so anyone hay has gotten married know how stressful it is. My fiancé, now husband, rebuttal and said "I was talking to my fiancée". Then both young workers "jump our throats" full blown argument. We decide to talk to the manager in charge and although he was nicer he wasn't much help. The young boy followed us to the manager and intercept that conversation too!! WTF. Manager sorta apologized but we never were made right by us. This store should completely close down. It's the worst! Please avoid and save yourself the crying. I cried! I wanted to leave a review on the website located on the receipt, but the website didn't work so I'm leaving the review here. I had a super busy schedule the past two weeks, and already have a long commute, and wanted to print out a "big head" poster for my brother's graduation. On the long commute home, the other printing place on 5th ave was not flexible, and basically said they couldn't do this for me. I was crushed. As a last resort (should have been my go-to), I looked to Staples. Jasmine from Print and Marketing saved the day, and the experience I envisioned for my brother's graduation. After emailing her several re-cropped pictures, Jasmine was able to print out two large pictures in under half an hour. I don't have to regret not having the large picture I wanted to hold up, and that means the world for me. The graduation was great, my brother loved the poster. Thank you Jasmine. If you're just coming in to browse the shelves and get items from the floor, then you're good to go... this place will do. However, if you are going to the Copy Center and you need the assistance of the sales people over there... you are screwed. I waited far longer than I should have been expected to wait for a fax. Time management is key in customer service & it would have taken less time for the associate to FINISH helping me than it was for her to begin shipping an item for another customer while I waited. That's right, she faxed my documents and then left me feeling like I was being held hostage by not returning my documents to me. Another associate, I am sure from a different department, kindly handed my papers to me and a manager, also compassionate of my wasted time, rang up my charge for me. I'd say I won't come back but, well, it's a Super Office Supply Store with free parking. Actually, if Office Max was still open I would gladly pay for parking to go there instead. Be weary... you may encounter the most professional people here but, there is always a chance (like I experienced just now) that you may not. read more

Alright, I'm going to be audacious and claim that this Staples deserves 4 stars. Yes I understand that no one uses stationery anymore. Yes I know I can get everything that Staples has from Amazon. However, this Staples does have some redeeming qualities, all of which are enhanced by the fact that it's a stone's throw away from my apt. Allow me to elaborate: 1. They have a full UPS shipping center there. We all know that UPS rules the Parkwanus shipping scene, so having this nearby is a plus. 2. They have electronics recycling. I don't know about you but my place is a constant mess of wires and dated tech (yes I'm a tech hoarder). 3. They have a copy & printing center. Yes, the implication here is that I don't have a printer at home. That is true. I also don't have a TV or cable. Stop judging. 4. No one is ever there. While that may not be good for their business prospects, it's a feature I appreciate because it lends itself to quick ins and outs. So there, one star per point. I dare you to argue with my iron clad logic. Stop hatin' and learn to love the Staples. read more

I was quite early for brunch, so upon driving by Staples I figured I still had time to kill. Let me stop by and get rechargeable batteries that I'd been meaning to get for awhile. I walk in and I can see that the store is pretty much arranged like all Staples locations. So I immediately went to my right, knowing that electronics would be there. Sure enough, it was, and I got my 4-pack of AA rechargeable batteries. Heading to pay, I see a "OPEN" sign at the register. I go there, but there is no one there. Where was the cashier? Oh, she was gossiping with a fellow employee in the Copy Center. Now, y'all know where the registers are, right? And y'all know where the Copy Center is, right? They're not that close, yet this "genius" took it upon herself to go hang out and chillax with her friend. She finally saw me standing at the register, so I figured she was on her way. NOPE!!! she continued to yak away. The hell kind of customer service is this? Looking around, I see the Customer Service register is open so I walk over to pay there. My god, I wished I had stayed at the empty register. The customer in front of me was about done, and like any courteous customer I wait for the sales associate to say, "Next in line please" or something similar. Instead, she looks up, sees me and does the "YES!" while shaking her head motion. The hell kind of customer service is this? I don't know who the hell trains these people but even Mother Teresa would have a hard time dealing with these "winners". read more

This is my local neighborhood Staples Branch, I practically live here since I stop in at least 3x a week for office supplies for my business. I enjoy coming in here and taking advantage of their weekly Deals, it's like a habit for me now, at times I don't even need to come in but stop in anyway just to take advantage of their weekly specials like Free Copy paper or Duracell batteries. This is my first chain to review. I usually wouldn't care, but things have stuck with me from my visits at this Staples. I went a couple of days ago to stake out prices on printers. One employee came right to me to assist me and I asked him the difference between the Epson (which I already had but damaged in transit during the move) and the Hp. Blah, Blah, Blah, his ending joke was: "This one has wings, this one doesn't." I thought that was very cool coming from an employee trying to sell me a printer, plus he had part of his ear cut off which was equally amusing, so he keeps returning to my thoughts. I returned yesterday to think about it more and possibly make a purchase. I received another employee that was very personable and helpful. DON'T GO TO EASY TECH!!!! My computer had been taking an extra 10 minutes to start for almost a year. This was an inconvenience but not an emergency. I had recently dropped by Easy Tech at Staples and explained my problem. The technician at the time said they would have no problem fixing it. Later that same month when I knew I would not be in need of my computer for a few days I dropped off my computer at the same Easy Tech at Staples. This is when the bait and switch/con/problems began. Easy Tech at Staples advertises a free "Pc tune-up" which I felt might be all I need. But to do anything they had to change me $76.20 for a diagnostic. I agreed, just wanting the problem fixed. When I left my computer I warned the clerk who took my order that my "M" key on the keyboard was loose and to be careful. He wrote the instruction down. However after a couple of days I received a call that my computer had 9 corrupter files and a virus. I was then told that the only way to fix the computer was to spend another $129 plus tax for the reinstall which would wipe my computer clean erasing all my files and programs. I had backed up all my files but did not want my programs to be erased. I told them no thank you and that I would pick up my computer and take it to my employers IT support staff. When I picked up my computer I noticed that the technician who had worked on my computer had lost the "M" key on the keyboard. In addition, the M Key latch was bent and cannot be replaced. I will have to buy a new keyboard and have it installed. I was willing to take the financial hit and waste of time giving my commuter to Easy Tech but I should not have to pay when they give me back my commuter in worse physical condition then when I left it with them. It's like dropping your car of for an oil change and it being given back to you with a wheel missing. I confronted the clerk about this who was the same clerk who took the ordinal order. He went into the back for an about ten minutes and then returned informing me there was nothing he could do for me. The next day I gave the same computer to my IT department at my office and no viruses was found or corrupted files. The consensus was that the Each Tech technician at Staples did not know how to fix the computer so the only think he could do was wipe the memory in the hope that is would fix the problem or he was trying to rip me off. I have reached out to the local Staples location twice with no reasonable response. "There is nothing I can do" is the response I receive. read more

Customer service at this location is a joke. It took 30 minutes in the phone to confirm that my online order was ready for pickup. When I got to the store the Item was $20.00 cheaper than online so naturally I requested a price adjustment. Well that request seemed to make everyone disappear. None wanted to be bothered with figuring that out. So they all just walked away. It took 40 minutes at the register for them to stop passing the buck and just help me. It's now been 48 hours since and the charge has still not been credited. Yes, I've been charged twice with no credit. Went there basically to get some books bound, a service i have gotten done many times at other Staples locations, however at this particular Staples the girl behind the counter was too busy to do any real work and told me I would have to wait several hours for it to be done. So, being that I don't live that close, that wasn't an option for me. Therefore, I had to leave and go to the Staples on Coney Island Ave., where they don't mind actually doing their job. I went into Staples this week thinking they would be cheaper than the mom&pop shop in my area. I was out of Brooklyn for the weekend. So great. I'll get better service out of town, right? I went in on Friday and ordered the invitations. Saturday night I picked up my order on the way back to Brooklyn. When I came home I discovered they only put in 20 envelopes rather than the 50 I paid for. So I called them in the morning. He said I should just go into any Staples locally and explain to them what happened and they'll provide the envelopes. I asked if he can call them and notify them that I'm on my way. He said no need. They will give it. So I drove 25 minutes (each direction) to go pick up the envelopes. The store gave me hell. "Well, they didn't call in, so I can't do anything." I had asked the lady to please call the original location to confirm. She said she couldn't. Finally they called a manager, who just handed me the envelopes, while the employee said "but they didn't call!" Seriously? responding to your manager like that?!? At least I finally got my envelopes! Then I had 2 pages I wanted to copy. A total of 60 pages. They gave me a price of almost $1/sheet. Are they kidding!?!?!? I asked about the 15cents price they have on their website. "that's just for b/w" - nope. website says color is as low as 15 cents. But when u go thru it suddenly is more. Never eligible for the cheaper price. I mentioned that they have a sign on the door that says "we guarantee to price match" She said nope. We can't do that. (my local store did it for 35cents a page. almost 1/3 the cost of Staples.) I will not be using their services anymore. read more

Will never use this staples again. I should have went to the one by my house but this one was close to errands so I decided to come here. I get here to use the computer to print and the printer malfunctions within a couple minutes of me using it. So now I have to wait for the cashier to reload the printer and change the ink cartridge. So I'm racking up time and she's taking her time. The printer took what felt like 3-5 minutes to recalibrate and only print 2 of my pages. So I ask for assistance again. Now we're 15 minutes in with only 2 pages printed and a $14 bill. Got it. So I ask for a refund which also takes 5 minutes for the cashier to complete. I got to the print kiosk instead and it literally took me another 15 minutes to print 10 pages. Their systems are extremely slower than Fedex they should handle that. After I'm done printing I got to get the pages laminated. He tells me it's going to take 2 hours to laminate 10 pieces of paper. Got it. So I ask can I just pay for it now. Figuring I'd come back later to get it or tomorrow. The guy says that's going to take some time as well cause I have to create the order. waited another 5 minutes. He tells me $43 fucking dollars like bruh are you bugging? I printed and laminated more pages at Staples by my house and it cost me like $20. He said it was about a $1 and some change a page. At this location they're charging $3.10 a page. Did staples prices go up since February or is there something off about this location? Didn't like the service I got, no sense of urgency, their systems are slow as hell and their prices don't correlate with other staple prices. Absolutely would never come here again. read more
