They are very friendly and helpful. The reservation system is fully automated and very easy to use. The turn around was quick with impeccable costumer service. The exam itself was very thorough, painless, and fast. They accept a gamut of insurances and the representative made sure that I received all covered enhancements with my prescription. They did NOT pressure me from buying add-ons but were helpful in making sure that I am making the correct purchase. Pricing are very reasonable as well. read more

I went in September and had an awful experience. First, they do not have an actual doctor on site. I 100% regret not walking away, but I am new to needing glasses and did not fully appreciate how a virtual exam is asinine. Second, the salesman was SO PUSHY and frustrating. I already had frames (from a friend who works at a glasses company) and did not need lenses created for me because of someone else I know in the industry. I explained this to them and when I asked for my prescription (which I had paid for... I paid for the exam...) they gave me an unverified print out that wasn't an actual *prescription*... I ended up going back later that afternoon and had to pull teeth just to get the actual prescription I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR... I highly recommend NOT going to Stanton. read more

I made an appointment, arrived early for it, and still had to wait past the appointment time. The facility looked like it could use a good vacuuming, the eye "exam" was a joke, the glasses were not adjusted to my head, and the pairs that I purchased that had to be "sent out" did not come back in 10 business days, like I was originally told. I was charged Hard Coat/Lens & Frame Warranty when I specifically said I wasn't interested in their warranty. I was also charged for their Frame Club and was never asked if I wanted to join and I never expressed a desire to do so. I will not use them again nor would I even consider recommending them. I was told I could come back another day when there would be a real Doctor there. I was surprised to learn their "regular" exam was not done by a real Doc. The absolute worst!!!! Steer clear of this place!!! Go anywhere else but here. My first visit was over 5 hours!!!! They got the glasses done fine, but the contact prescription was never completed. It took a couple weeks to just get a trial pair!!!! I just tried to order contacts online after being told everything was done and the website told me the contact prescription has still not been finalized!!!! It makes me sad to have to leave a negative review, but I feel I should warn others and hopefully this place will read it and make much needed changes. After reading other reviews, I'd like to agree that their employees are all very kind. Everyone says, "I am sorry. I understand why you would be frustrated", etc. But that does not get anything fixed. If you value your time and don't want to wait forever with every type of contact you have with someone here, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

The worst experience I've ever had. The eye exam is done online. Not in house by a real optometrist. The offer they have buy one get one is total bs! I paid $200+ for 2 glasses. One pair of glasses was done totally wrong when I went to pick them up. Then I returned for the same glasses and the prescription was wrong. The third time I went to pick them up and had to wait for mail to come. I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. The staff is not knowledgable in glasses. After messing up my glasses twice all they offered was discount if I wanted to make one pair into sunglasses, which was an additional $75! All they try to do is upsell. You won't see an actual eye doctor. It's virtually done, which I don't really have a problem with. Customer service at the location is the only reason I'm giving more than one star. The employees are great; however, the company as a whole is terrible. They call me everyday to tell me glasses are ready for pickup. I've had my glasses for three weeks now. The employees at the location have done their due diligence and updated their system, but corporate doesn't seem to acknowledge that. Not my first choice for an eye exam. Somebody on a television screen is giving you an eye exam. Not cool. My contact prescription was not right, had to come back and reorder a new prescription. That was my left eye. My right eye, I had ordered two boxes for each eye. My right eye prescription looked fine at a glance but after further viewing, I found that my right had two different prescriptions written on the box??? How did that happen?? Went in on the spur of the moment one day because I scratched my glasses at the gym. Within 10 minutes I was sitting in an exam getting my prescription adjusted (it needed it!) And walked out about half an hour later with 2 new pairs of glasses on order! It was so smooth and the gal who helped me, Judy, was great! Picked up my new glasses today ( 3 weeks) and they fit perfect, the transition lenses are great and they look fantastic! All for a reasonable price. Stanton Optical was recommended to me by a cost-conscious shopper, and everything at the location was definitely low-budget. The eye-exam was performed remotely by tele-presence. Basically a tired-seeming doctor on the video screen pushing buttons and asking questions from an office somewhere far away. There seemed to be a bit of a lag between what she did and the phoropter/refractor updating, which resulted in her asking me whether one or two was better before the machine had actually changed settings. The overall exam was less thorough than the one I got at the other side of the strip mall, but was also half the price and had the bonus of being applied to the purchase of new glasses. Unfortunately, when asked to pick out a pair of glasses, there weren't a single pair in the place that I liked, which resulted in me looking for the ones that I disliked the least. Ultimately I selected just about the cheapest ones they had, just to see if the prescription was going to work for me. The fluorescent orange frames that a previous reviewer mentioned, were also jokingly suggested to me. About a week after my visit, I received two automated calls letting me know my glasses were ready. The first pair worked perfectly, but the second pair were out of focus no matter where I looked, and had to be redone. After another week I got two more automated calls letting me know the glasses were ready, but they were not at the store, and I was told it would be at least another week before they were ready. Another week, another two calls, and another wasted trip to pick up glasses that that were not at the store. Someone forgot tell the computer that I'd already picked the one pair I already had. I was a little annoyed that they hadn't done that after the first wasted trip, but was told the next call I got meant they were actually there. The were not. Another call. Another trip. Another wait. No glasses. I told the woman there that I wouldn't come back without a call from a person. If I don't get one, I honestly don't care. I've wasted too much time already on a cheap pair of glasses, and am definitely not going to order any more regardless of what happens. Two pair of glasses, assuming I ever get the second pair, and an eye-exam for $70, seemed worth it when compared to the $400 price tag for a single pair of glasses elsewhere. But after all the hassle I'm not so sure anymore. Throughout it all the staff was generally pleasant, helpful and professional as possible. At least they have that going for them. ----- Update: A few days after posting the review I received a call from the 'new' manager who was reviewing orders, since the the 'old' manager was no longer at that location. I wonder why. She let me know that the second pair of glasses were never actually ordered, in spite of me being previously told they were. So much for the illusion of professionalism. But! Hurray, huzzah! They would be ordered now! And the NEXT call I get to let me know they were ready, would mean they actually would be! This time. Again. She even offered to to rush them (why bother?) and to add some type of coating for free (don't care), but my opinion of the place hasn't changed. It's been over a month, and the inconvenience has not been worth it. read more

EDIT: annnnnd the part of this I'm most salty about is I picked out some pretty cute pretty inexpensive glasses. I didn't have the trouble everyone else had about not finding stuff. They have a decent selection of OFF BRAND frames. Like I had half a mind to just get a credit towards the frames as your own manager couldn't figure out how to process a refund. If someone is leaving bc it's an hour past their appointment and their child is being loading in the car speed up. It was a cash transaction give them the cash figure your computer out on your own time. It's not like I was asked to sign anything for the refund in fact there is a part that ask if the customer is satisfied and she applied that I was annnnd y'all already know I'm not. I wasted over an hour of my time and didn't even show an ounce of sympathy about it. If I had heard an actual apology from anyone on your sales team I might have cared to give you a second chance but your staff just acted like this was business as usual. I had an absolute nightmare of an experience here today, I was lured in by the 2 for $60 deal with exam included. The selection of value glasses is TRASH. Like clearance section of Ross after Black Friday Trash. What's worse is an hour after my initial appointment time I am standing with the manager attempting to get a refund for services they wouldn't be able to accommodate in a reasonably timed fashion. Nor did they seem competent to do so either. The young man Andrew seemed under the influence stumbling over his worlds not making eye contact and just lacking any sort of customer service skills. I guess I'm glad I dodged a bullet. I'll be going to Costco and Warby Parker. Seriously while I was there another women came in having issues with her experience the night prior. I was frustrated for her and the sheer lack of ability this business has at satisfying customers. Run don't walk away from this circus. read more

I had such a shockingly bad experience here. My eye exam went fine the technician was nice but when I started trying on the glasses I was realizing I didn't love any of the glasses which is fine so I picked some that were ok and I could deal with the guy "helping" me said it was going to be $500 for two pairs then I asked about one pair and it was $350 he said he was giving me a deal. I don't have an intense prescription so it shouldn't be super crazy priced... After that I asked about the two pairs for $69 (I went in thinking it wouldn't be real) he laughed at me and said follow me, he then showed me a few pairs of glasses and said do you like these?! Before answering he said I didn't think so... when we went back to the desk I said I didn't love any of the glasses and would love to look at other places he then exclaimed WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME!! I'M GIVING YOU A DEAL! Clearly that made me uncomfortable and I said "doing what to you? I'm buying glasses for myself" he then started talking about how he would get commission for glasses I buy.... I've been to Stanton before in La Mesa and I didn't have to wait two hours for everything to be done. Everyone was super nice which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 1. It just took way too long for just an eye exam for contacts. I'm just very disappointed because it wasn't even that busy. There was only one other patient before me.
