Save yourself the frustration. Nothing was as advertised. I had a 10:00 appointment but didn't see the Dr. Until 11:00 after asking for my money back. They have no respect for your time. I was surprised that I actually liked the Dr. (Who indicated that she was subbing for someone). I was then told to have a seat outside and someone would help me. After another 15 min of waiting the receptionist told me to sit in a different spot if I wanted help. Then the final insult....my 2 pairs of glasses for $99 came to a total of $444. After much negotiation and almost walking out empty handed ( 2 hours I will never get back), I ended up with 2 pair for $200. Not happy, worst experience ever. read more

Stay away from this place! Terrible customer service. My glasses broke in less than 60 days. No offer to fix or make right. They rush you into the "free" eye exam then tell you it's 40 bucks for the exam if you don't buy their overpriced glasses. Also they never warn you about the added charges. I went to upgrade from my dollar store readers and they wanted $400 for the buy one get one free with free eye exam special. What a bunch of crap. When I objected repeatedly they drop the price finally to $175. This proves the previous price was completely arbitrary and they hoped I didn't notice. SCAM ALERT!!!! If you are told by the sales people at Stanton Optical that "Sunbit does NOT ding your credit, DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!" My only request to the lady that handled my sale, was I cannot take a ding on my credit report, as my husband and I are buying a house, and if I get 3 dings in 3 years my score would drop below the excellent credit rating and go to "good" and my payments on a 350,000 loan would go from 2200 to over 3000!!..I can pay with my Discover card, and choose less expensive frames, she assured me over and over that my credit would not get dinged, she does it all of the time, yatta yatta yatta.. It's all a LIE! She had me go through Sunbit and buy the more expensive frames and have it taken out of my checking account over 3 monthly payments on the promise that it would not ding my credit. I got the frames March 14th, my credit was dinged, not once, but twice, for this purchase...That woman outright lied to me, to gain a bigger sale!! Apparently she deliberately sent my credit info out to more than one lender for approval, as on my credit notifications for the same date/time I got 2 dings! This has cost me more money than the entire purchase! I have contacted their main location/Sunbit, and the better business bureau...This lady trying to make her sell, has taken a lot from my family. I will find out sales managers name and update it when I know it for certain. Our experience was horrible. I only went in for reading glasses and when I tried them on they were for 812 inch distance. I was told that I didn't ask the proper questions when getting my eyes checked so therefore I got what I got. I had pre-paid for both of my pairs of glasses. This Sales manager was very aggressive. On my way out I stopped to speak with A female employee to ask if there was a manager or general manager that i could speak with. The sales manager darted over and told me to quit her resting their employees and told me to get out! He said he was going to call security on me he does it all the time he said. Can you believe this is over glasses. The only descriptor that I can give in regards to the sales person is that he had those disk things in his ear lobes. Anyways I was able to speak to a general manager and hopefully my corrected glasses will be in on Friday. I just wanted to explain of my Interaction with this company specifically this sales manager. I lost a lens and they can't replace it, but have to charge me far more to replace both even though they're cutting lenses constantly in the back. The phone call to set this up took a half hour. So my husband went in for an exam and the staff person told him he had no insurance, but he could pay $39 for the exam and then if he needed glasses, they would calculate the cost that that time. My husband left, because he knows we have vision coverage that pays for the full price of the exam. I went in later that evening with my daughter and showed the staff person a letter I have that explains my coverage. She called the number on the letter and verified my coverage, then she said " So your plan usually covers the exam, however these two doctors are new here and they're not listed as a provider on your plan yet, so it will only be $39 for each of you to get exams today". When I asked why the exam wasn't covered, she said " Well the supplies for the exam are covered, however the doctors doing the exam are not" what a scam!! I'm reporting this place to my coverage and the BBB. The supplies are covered??? Oh, whatever! I gave it a star, because they had a wide selection of glasses and the place is very nice, scandalous, but nice. Never going back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Quite happy with my experience at this specific location. I had been to another Stanton Optical location and had not been impressed with the treatment I had received after I had arrived on time for an appointment but I was told I was "late" because the receptionist checked me in late so I was told I would have to reschedule. I found this location which had better reviews so I decided to give it a try. I was actually a few minutes late to my appointment for this one but I had a minimal wait and then was seen right away. The gentleman that helped me go through all of the final transaction choices and sale details, Jose, was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The business itself is quite large and it is a little difficult to figure out where you are supposed to go or what you should be doing. Other than that, I would recommend this specific location to anyone looking for glasses/contacts. read more

But if I wanted to purchase eyeglasses it will be ready in 45 mins Dr. Lee all of sudden had time to fill out my perception that I paid for after his 10 eye exam!!! Shocking!!!! Worst experience ever! While waiting for my eye exam, I browsed the frames, and collected the ones I was interested in. Apparently some woman wanted a pair I had in my tray. I told the employee that I was interested in them. She asked if she could take the frames to see if she could order them for the lady, and that she would bring them back to me after. I finally had to ask for them back, and she said she would order me a pair because she sold them to the other gal. Are you kidding me? I spoke to the manager Jonathan, and he talked to the employee. The employee lied about it. I was shocked and upset. He wouldn't listen to a word I said, he was beyond rude. Arrogant, cocky, jerk! Then he and the employee accused me of taking the frames from the other woman to begin with! I never even saw the other woman! I asked to review the cameras, they refused. I asked for corp phone number, he refused. When he then went to refund me my eye exam, another customer looked at me like "wow" what the hell. I came in July 28th to get a replacement of lenses. I waited 3 weeks no one called so went in to see what was going on.(August 18) Apparently they never got ordered. Guys ordered and said they would be ready in 3 weeks(September 1) gave it another week and went in around the 8th just to be told the machine that cuts the lenses is broken. So I went in today. September 19around 930 and get told I had to come back because the lab wasn't opened. She said an hour but to be safe come in at 11. So I came back at 11:45 to find out they STILL didn't have them ready. Was told to give them 15 more minutes. So I sit there and wait and my twin toddlers start crying. One associate asks if I wanna come back like if it bothered her that my kids were crying. So I go outside and wait in the car. I go in and all the employees are standing there staring. 12:20 I FINALLY get my glasses. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND this place to anyone again. They don't even deserve one star read more

These guys are great been going to Lens Crafters for years but made the switch today. I'm getting the eye surgery and needed a inexpensive pair of glasses so I can properly be fitted. I needed a color vision test for IBEW Wireman apprenticeship application. Most places do not offer this service so I walk in here running late and asked for the color vision test and they gave me one on the spot with no appointment I only had to wait about 3 minutes! The lady who examined me was very professional and promptly tested me! She wrote me a letter stated my test results and I was on my way FREE of charge! Went in and asked if we could pay to have my son's glasses adjusted and was told yes and that there's no charge. We were told to sign in and that's it. We waited in a chaotic, crowded space while two competing songs played over the speakers. After sitting and not being called on for over twenty minutes I went up and asked if we could please be helped. They took his glasses, fiddled with them for a bit, went and got someone else, who said something about the glasses and then started talking about her nails. They eventually came back and told me we can't adjust these because they weren't purchased here. I explained I had offered to pay and was met with a blank stare. Came for free eye exam. Got 2 glasses for 198. Mo was our salesman I appreciate he didn't push any extras just made us informed there was options. Place is noisy so be prepared. Also even if you have appt. It will take at least hour and half with no glitches.you do get your glasses in about 30 minutes so that's nice. Guess I should of read the reviews before coming in. The only person competent in that store was some nice lady Brooke. This larger frumpy poorly groomed gentlemen that they resorted to as their manager completely ignored me as he walked past me. His excuse was that he was filling in, regardless if I have a question he should of been able to answer it. Aside from the staff, the glasses selection was pretty good actually. I had my own prescription so I can't rate the doctor, however it looked like a chaotic mess in the doctors office. Update: I received a phone call from the Modesto store and from someone at corporate. They both called me within minutes of each other having no idea that the other person was calling me. I do feel much better knowing that they took the time to look up my phone number and give me a call to hear my side of the story . The optometrist and the receptionist have both been spoken to regarding how the whole situation was handled last night. The manager from the corporate store offered to wave my exam fee. I was hesitant to make another appointment but he was very reassuring that another situation like last night will not happen again so I scheduled another appointment. I am very impressed at how the manager and corporate has helped to make the situation better. read more

I'm frustrated and disappointed. I ordered glasses in May. I spent a little over $300 for a pair of glasses. Initially, everyone was nice and helpful. The wait was a little long but I was able to get an appointment the day I called so that's worth a little waiting time. However I did 99% of the calling and online follow up to track my order and the date was pushed back a few times and then was cancelled. Nobody told me this. I find my frames weren't sent so the lab ceased production. I verified the type and specifics of my order and apparently they found the frames and confirmed the description matched my order and they reassured me my frames had been rushed to the lab with my Rx and they were working on them. I received the same response when I checked status online. The estimated date of expected completion however was pushed back several times and then that order showed it too had been cancelled. I was told it HAD been sent but never arrived and likely was lost. The manager asked me to return to pick out new frames, promised to kick in free tinting and sunglasses for having waited over 2 months. I returned and couldn't find similar frames. I asked if they could locate a pair like I'd purchased from their supplier but they have no duplicates on hand. I picked out a pair I wasn't as happy with but after 20 minutes and the manager was still unavailable I left them at the desk with the representative and asked her to see that he received the frames. Apparently he did. 2weeks later online It showed they were ready! Great!! Had to sign in and wait 39 minutes to get them. They are pretty strong, like "scared to step off the curb and fall into an abyss" strong! I wasn't confident using satellite to assess my vision and I think a regular ophthalmologist in the future is a better option. I wish I liked the frames better. They had a good supply but limited styles. The frames were loose and bent, unfortunately I didn't get the tinting, a discount for waiting from May til August, nor a pair of sunglasses, which would be useless without prescription lenses. I wish I had a better experience, the "deals" offered and immediate scheduling had me feeling pretty positive I'd made the right choice. Priority naturally is getting paid but customer service shouldn't end there. I believe some extra perk or personal attention at some point was justified . I had been understanding and patient in my communication. Lesson learned. I wish I'd read the reviews here first. It seems this Modesto location has a few issues. I have been to this location a few times and I'll be honest... the first couple visits were not pleasant. I went there the first time almost two years ago to get glasses and it was because of the buy one get one free, like I'm sure is the reason for most people. But when I went I realized it was more expensive than they make it sound because you have to get an exam, and the the lenses cost is separate from the frames cost... but I thought, whatever I need to see right? I went to pick them up, and the second pair was completely different from the first pair and I've never been able to wear them. They weren't able to do anything for me and sent me on my way with glasses I still can't wear. Fast forward to last year, I decide to go in for an exam to get contacts. They convince me to get their vision care program, and of course I have to wait for my trial pairs because my eyes are a special kind of special so my dreams of leaving the store without frames were postponed. I got called in a week later and never ended up buying with them because the contacts didn't work and I had a freak accident that resulted in me not being able to wear contacts for a while. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. My glasses break, and because the other pair doesn't work for me, and I have no contacts I panic and go straight to Stanton. That's where I met Omar. I explained that I have nothing, they can hardly stay together and I can't drive or do anything without glasses. He talks to his manager and explains that he saw that one of the original people who helped me was someone who from what I can tell was fired for messing crap up, and basically said "we gotta hook her up", and hook me up they did. I got a nice basic pair of frames for $100 no questions asked. They knew I had gotten a raw deal, 2 YEARS AGO and decided they needed to make it right. We talked about my upcoming wedding and joked about the stresses of weddings, as he is a newly wed himself, and they made me feel like they cared- which is so nice when you know most businesses only care about the $$$. I had decided I was going to use the rest of the vision care program and be done with them, but every time I've gone in there since ( I had another exam for contacts again) they treat me like family, and it has totally changed my mind about them. They're not the "fanciest" place, so if you're looking for designer frames that will cost you WAY more than they're worth, and sold by people who only want your money, than you need to look elsewhere. But if you want your money to be well spent and know you're being taken care of, Stanton Optical is the place to be!! read more

If I could do Zero stars I would. I've never had this must trouble trying to talk to someone. Last Friday I went to buy my daughter some new glasses. The sales guy, Jonathan said they would be ready in 2 business days and that I was receive a call when they were ready. So on Tuesday I called and they said they were still not ready. So I called again on Wednesday, still not ready. I asked why and they said that her lenses were not in yet. Again I asked why, they said that they had to special order her lenses cause per prescription is high. Did I ever receive a call saying that it would take longer than 3 business days? No. Did I ever get a call saying that they had to special order her lenses? No. Since they also can not tell me when they will be ready, I've asked for a refund. According to Alisha, only a manager can issue a refund. He couldn't take my call cause he was in a meeting. So she took my info and he would call me back. That was at 11am. It's now 4pm and still no call. So I tried calling to speak to someone and no one can help me. I've been put on hold for a total for 45 minutes. And still not able to talk to anyone. I've NEVER had to deal with this before. Now I have to go down and talk to someone since I can't get anyone on the phone to help me. read more

When I politely told the gentleman I couldn't afford their prices, thanked him for his time and said I would just go some where else; he become rude. He actually "Thanked me for wasting his time". I went there to replace my lens in my existing frames. They talked me I to buying 2pairs of glasses with a bride of $50.00 off. They told me they were part of my insurance network whwn I told them. I went aheadand purchased both glasses at $526.00. When everything was purchaced, I asked about insurance paperwork. They filled out an out of network form. When I confronted them about it and then asked for a refund and they refused. I filed a report at BBB and requested refund several times. They advertised free exams when purchasing glasses - lie.
