Dr. Irish and his staff are a classic example of professionalism. They are kind, courteous and helpful. Their office is immaculate and well staffed. Dr. Irish takes his time to explain things to you. Recently my wife had an irritated cornea issue and Dr. Irish stayed late to help her. Absolute life saver. When I recently went in for my appointment, the whole staff was wearing California State University, Stanislaus, lightweight jackets. I asked why and a staff member told me that they wanted to support our local university. Class act on their part. They obviously care about being a good neighbor. I have never ever met such a rude person ever and I work in customer service, this lady was beyond rude and I will never return, I'd rather stay blind than to get any work done here. I'll go somewhere else for glasses or contacts. Terrible. Love, love this office. Staff is very friendly, organized, yet professional. They follow through with appointments and keep the patient in the center of it. They remember patients very well. It feels personal. The doctors are great. They take time to explain things and work with you. Also very personable. I was recently changing my prescription and it didn't feel quite right. They have patiently been working with me to ensure I get the right prescription and frames. There is really no wait times. The Drs. are always wonderful and for the most part most of the staff, my family has come to Monte vista for YEARS, unfortunately it is always that one issue with that front receptionist who sits directly in front, who is just very rude, it was either pay the $39 for a dilation that won't cause blurry ness or the standard one which will, I explained I have to go back to work and work in front of a computer and she just looked at me and goes "no, you won't be able to see" so I said ok well I need to reschedule and she goes "ok then you will need to pay $25 for a cancellation " I was only trying to RESCHEDULE because I sit in front of a computer doing data and billing, after I was already frustrated she goes "well you can sign a waiver" and was just so rude about it. This has not been the first time an issue with her either, my father has had to personally call Dr.Irish and another staff member who magically made 2-3 appointments appear within two weeks vs the 3 months she gave us. Unfortunately I just got all my information and will be going with a new optometrist. read more

Staff was courteous and friendly,But I didn't like the additional fees for everything. For example for contact lenses they have a fee, They wouldn't give me a prescription for contact unless I go through a distribution service that they offer. They also had all these additional fees for prescription glasses, my insurance usually pays for everything.I rarely pay anything out-of-pocket, or even a co-pay. They even charged me that today.I chose them because they were a VSP provider, never again will I go back to them! read more

I appreciate Dr. Irish so much but whomever responds to emails is not very helpful. I use email to schedule my appointments as I don't like to use the phone for personal calls while I am working. I have contacted them several times, the second response explaining that I cannot call during working hours. They never replied. Additionally, last year I had telephoned (I wasn't working) and the attitude of the person just made me think they do not care if they have my business or not. I ended up going to a different Optometrist because of that last year, although I prefer Dr. Irish. read more

Monte Vista Optometry has been excellent from the beginning. We moved out to Lathrop, but still come back to Turlock for them. Dr. Irish was kind enough to take his weekends and allow people on the waitlist to be seen sooner than their appointments. He was very patient as my 6 year old daughter that has to be seen for her vision problems. The front desk is very pleasant and always remembers my family when we come in. Gave me attidude saying that my info was incorrect for which it was not , and refused to even make an effort to help look when she was looking in the wrong provider . Used to go to the typical low cost places for my exam and glasses and never felt welcome or any personal connection to make me want to go back. Even though more expensive, I tried MVO years ago when my brother recommended them. What a difference!! Great, clean office. Wonderful selection of frames. Much better exams! Awesome customer service! I switched to Dr. Irish, new to MVO back then, when my brother's Dr. retired just a year after my first appointment. I was amazed at how he took the time to explain every procedure. He's always taken the time to answer any questions I had. He and the staff give me the sense that they appreciate my business and really care about my eye health. I've never had any reason to complain. Also, very happy with the frames I've purchase from them. I've never been pushed nor had a sales pitch to get new frames after an annual exam....it's totally my choice. Because of Yelp, this is the place we chose to get our eyes examined, and we were not disappointed! The facility is extremely nice, the people were friendly and efficient, and the doctor was, too. The equipment is all state of the art. Best of all, they found my husband's prescription from a few years ago in the Bay Area was too strong in one eye, they corrected it, and he has much clearer vision and wider range in that eye now, super important since we both do a lot of reading, and he is a type 1 diabetic and has had treatments for diabetic retinopathy that reduces his vision somewhat. We will be coming back here every time for our prescriptions to be renewed! read more

I made my first appointment here for 11am. I received confirmation texts..none of them stating the time, so when I showed up at 11am, I was told my appointment was at 10:45 and since I had received the text, my appointment was cancelled for being 15 minutes late. The woman was rude and kept repeating my appointment was texted to me. I told her it had no time and I was told 11am. She told me that I would not be seen. I wasted my lunch on this appointment. Usually, I dread going to seeing an optometrist, because they either rush you through, or they try to up sell you on all these tests, or gadgets or stuff. Dr. Irish did neither. His staff did an amazing job giving me thorough tests, and Dr. Irish took the time to explain clearly about what these tests meant and how health my eyes were.
