Today I called Turlock Eyecare and requested an appointment because of a constant pain in my left eye. I was given an appointment within an hour. I was greeted by Tori and warmly welcomed to Turlock Eyecare. I was directed to Clare, an intern who examined my left eye and provided needed information for care. I spoke to Dr. Robillard who was able to determined I had an eyelid hair growing inward to my eye. Dr. Robillard pulled the ingrown hair with a hand held tool and spoke to me about treating dry eyes. Extremely nice staff. The office is very nice and clean. I've gone to a few different offices in town but have not found an office that I feel comfortable with. This was one of the best experiences when it comes eye exams and if you only plan to do that then go for it! Although my exam was great, purchasing here was not a great experience. I brought in a pair of rayban sunglasses to purchase prescription lenses for them. The person helping me order my lenses was not knowledgeable in any of the lenses they offered. I was purchasing transitions and there were many add ons and offers and I had many questions but they were not able to answer or give me any information other than the small 4 word description that was on a paper. She was very kind and being as helpful as she could and not the reason for my bad experience. I ordered the lenses. I got probably the highest price of lenses because I think add ons are worth it, but I was very worried with my purchase from the lack of information I got. They took my glasses, glasses case. I go in to pick up my glasses and notice my original Rayban lenses were missing. I asked what happened to them and the front desk went to the back and tried looking for them but I guess could not find them. They then tell me that I traded in my old lenses for new ones for some reason. I paid almost 270 for just prescription lenses and they then needed to keep my old lenses for? You kept my 100 dollar lenses and charged me almost 300 for prescription lenses with insurance?! Really bad service to make a large transaction like this and not give any notice or information. read more

I was in dire need of an appointment due to my sons frames breaking. We already had an office we had been going to for quite a few years. Sadly, the office we had been patients of were unable/unwilling to accommodate our special needs. This turned out to be the biggest blessing in disguise. With frustration, I turned to google to search for a new office. I came across Turlock Eyecare. I tried to fill out the online form but the calendar didn't load so I called. The sweetest ladies assisted me, Carol and ? Tami? (I'm so sorry if I am forgetting your name). They advised they were booked solid until mid-October. I explained the urgent situation and they offered a wait-list for cancellations. I told them I would come no matter day or time. No joke - within the HOUR, I received a call from Carol asking if I could be there within 20-30 min because they just had a cancellation. Wow! Thank you, Lord. This was an answer to prayer. Visit: We had the opportunity to see Dr. R. The second he walked in, we knew this would be the best experience. He was cool, calm, collected, funny, engaging, interested in my son, and went above and beyond to explain every detail and allow engagement in the process. I have NEVER seen this type of customer service treatment, EVER. He is a rare gem to this field. I haven't met the other Dr but I've heard he is the same way. My son was instantly put at ease. I cannot thank Turlock Eyecare and Dr R for their outstanding, exemplary customer service!!! I paid OUT OF POCKET for this visit (well, the frame portion), and it was worth every penny. They also offered to fix my son's broken frame for FREE since his new ones wouldn't be ready for 2-3 weeks. Oh, they put a RUSH on that order also. If you are unsatisfied with your current Dr, wish to have your children be immediately excited to go see these Dr's, and/or you are willing to be patient with the appointment wait time (or in my situation zero wait time) - YOU MUST CHOOSE TURLOCK EYECARE. Everyone from the phone call, front desk, eye care assistants/techs (not sure correct name I'm sorry), and Dr delivered superior service. We went through this business for my 9 month old son's glasses and we were really disappointed. First off, they have very few frames for babies so they had to order some which took a while. Once they finally arrived, we went in to order the frames. They initially stated it would take another 2-3 weeks for the glasses to arrive. After 9 days, I call to get an update on the glasses in which the lady that answered said they were in. On our way to the appointment, we get a call that the glasses were NOT in and they hadn't even been ORDERED. They stated they had to wait on the insurance however it was already pre authorized. Then they say the glasses would arrive in a few days. Meanwhile this entire time my son can't see. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. We will not be going to them again. read more

I had my appointment here well over a year ago to establish care and obtain the prescription for a new updated prescription pair of glasses. I had VSP vision insurance at the time and it worked beautifully with this office who accepts it. The office was well organized, neat and the environment was professional. The appointment did not run on time unfortunately and I arrived early. The doctor was professional and helpful in nature as was the front receiving office area. Because of my budget, purchasing glasses here was not an option so I requested my prescription on paper and would later obtain my glasses from Costco which turned out really well even for bi-focals. This was the first time for my vision to require the bifocals. This year, during the COVID-19 environment, I needed a new exam but this time lacked vision insurance availability so I phoned to see what a cash-pay cost looked like. It looked like $160 just for the exam including dilation, refraction, and receiving your prescription. This would have left me with no available funds to purchase glasses with. This would have been an appointment with Dr. Hammell the original person I saw nearly 2 years ago. They didn't have an appointment so I could have been placed on a waiting list. Unfortunately, the pricing was outside of my budget so no appointment for me. Lastly, and unfortunately, neither I nor the new Ophthalmologist could read the medical exam records from Dr. Hammell because they were in a font size of about a 7 or an 8 if not smaller. I requested the records by phone and retrieved them in person. Maybe they were screenshots? The Ophthalmologist made verbal notes about this stating the exam results from Dr. Hammell were very difficult to interpret. The office person stated at Turlock Eye Care that the doctor likes to print out the exam results himself. I can appreciate this hands-on approach and I like it. One suggestion for this really helpful and friendly office would be to please enlarge the font size for requested medical records to at least a font size of 12 so they are useful. I'm sure this was an accidental oversight just wanted to make note of it. I really miss being seen in this office because of how professional and thorough they are and if the day comes when I have vision insurance again or they lower their fee for a cash-pay client I'd like to return. read more

I came into my appointment with lots of questions about my vision options as far as surgery, glasses and contacts and everything was expertly answered in a friendly and easy-to-understand manner. Turlock Eye Care on Colorado has always been a perfect eye care team. The front area personnel are professional, well-informed, and friendly. There is very little "waiting around" as staff keeps the patient going thru procedures and processes in a timely and comfortable manner and pace. Dr. Robillard is extremely well-informed, keeps updated on all new info in eye care, is a great diagnostician, communicates very well with the patient and informs patient of all info and answers all questions. He always friendly and takes time with the patients, never making them feel rushed or ignorant. Nice people and my doctor is awesome. I gave them two stars and will not be returning to them because of the quality of work from their lab. I purchased two pair of glasses from Turlock Eye Care. The first pair was returned quickly but they had to send them back because the lens was placed incorrectly. Great catch from the technician. When I got the glasses, I noticed that they had a prism at the top of the lens. They sent them back and it was about 80 percent better. My second pair was the same situation. I received a call that they really couldn't do anything for me. The technician asked if I was seeing floaters. Hilarious. I have showed the glasses to two of my friends and they also see the prism. Unfortunately, I am picking up my defective glasses today and will have to deal with it. I have been using glasses for the past 22 years and I have never had this issue before. I am actually sad because I really liked my doctor. I am appalled that I am down over $1000 dollars and have glasses that I am unhappy with. The technician told me that they have never had this problem before, so when you make such a statement you open yourself to a negative Yelp review and a call to my insurance carrier to dispute the charges. I miss the days when people were concerned with good customer satisfaction. Update: 10/19/18 Today I received a call from the office asking me to come in and to allow them to try to fix the situation. I sincerely appreciate the call and their willingness to try to fix the situation but I informed them that I no longer wanted to do business with them. I appreciate the call and their willingness but I shouldn't have been sent packing in the first place. Kudos to them for trying to fix the customer service fiasco. Extremely pleased with Turlock Eyecare. I have been a patient there for many years and have always been satisfied with the care I receive there. However, this past week they went above and beyond. One morning this week I stepped on my glasses and they were a mess. As I have very poor vision, I rely on my glasses. I took the horribly bent glasses into the office. They tried to repair them, but they were too badly damaged. Of course, I was most upset and asked about possible options. After discussing a few different options, I was told that they had just started a new service where they had an in-office lab. I could choose new frames and I could have a new pair of glasses that day. I jumped at that offer. I chose my frames and left. Less than two hours later I got a call that my glasses were ready. Dr Robillard is BU far the best eye doctor in the business hands down. Very thorough and professional when it comes to his patients. However the staff at the front where you pick your glasses has opportunities to say the least. Robillard gets 10 stars. The ladies at the two glasses desk get a negative 8 that brings this rating to a 2. Two years in a row that they manage to totally mess my orders. Last year was my sunglasses that took two times and still didn't get them right. I was told that I would be receiving a 40% discount on future purchases which I did not get, it's ok that doesn't make or break. After my exam when I came out to finalize my glasses the lady already had everything drawn up without consulting what I wanted to do based on last years prescription I am assuming. She then tells me that she can't give me an itemized receipt until I pick up my glasses ( still waiting on that)This year for my new glasses I paid extra like I always do for the extra thin lenses and anti scratch lenses. When I picked up my glasses I noticed that they did not give me the thin lenses so I brought it to her attention. Brace yourself for her response and I quote, oh we don't have that anymore. I said if that's the case then you should've told me this ahead of time so I could've made my choice. Her explanation was a comparison to going to a restaurant where you normally order the same thing and then it's no longer available in the menu! I told her that if this was the case then I would go to a different restaurant or order a different meal based on what the customer wants. So now I had to wait two more weeks because apparently it is still available. I'm not a very picky person if she would've just admitted that she made an error I wouldn't care too much but the fact that she was making excuses and lied is what kind of put me on this situation. I really hope that the doctors take this into consideration because it is affecting their business and I'm sure they are not even aware of this. I recently had a visit and had my 16 mo old with me. The staff was so patient and engaged my daughter during my exam. Dr Robillard was excellent, he was very patient while I had to chase my daughter down the hall in the middle of the exam. The selection of frames was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful deciding on a new frame. I would recommend this practice to anyone in the Turlock area! The doctor is absolutely wonderful. I'm giving a 1 star because the service I received from the lady who tried to give me my glasses was HORRENDOUS. The lens of my glasses were not to my liking and I told her I would like them fixed and she told me that I had to take them home and give them a try. I could barely see out of these glasses because they're bifocal and the line was so sharp between the two lenses it was almost impossible for me to see through them. We went back and forth with this and she was raising her voice so much at me that she was basically screaming. I felt totally disrespected. My children and I had great experience at their facility. I was a little nervous at 1st but Dr. Hamel was excellent with all 3 of my children. They were very comfortable with their exams, they had a good time. He was very thorough with his exams and explained everything very well. Especially when it came to one of my children needing eyeglasses. He explained his condition and the type of glasses he needs given his young age. Then the ladies that helped with picking the frames of what would work best, not to mention more cost effective and not break our wallet. They're very knowledgeable in what they do.
