I was greeted by Tori and warmly welcomed to Turlock Eyecare. I was directed to Clare, an intern who examined my left eye and provided needed information for care. I spoke to Dr. Robillard who was able to determined I had an eyelid hair growing inward to my eye. Dr. Robillard pulled the ingrown hair with a hand held tool and spoke to me about treating dry eyes. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Avak himself was the opposite. After completing all required forms, including disclosing that I have glaucoma and that I was declining treatment, Dr. Avak came out to the waiting area and abruptly told me he would not provide service. He stated that he "did not want to take the risk" of being blamed in the future, even though I offered to sign a written waiver acknowledging my refusal of glaucoma treatment. He refused to consider it and told me to leave. His assistant apologized and explained that it was his private practice and he could refuse service. While that may be true, the manner in which he handled the situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. Patients deserve respect, clear communication, and reasonable accommodation -- especially when they are simply seeking a basic eye exam for glasses. My experience with Dr. Avak was deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend him based on his conduct.

I called Generations to see if I can have my exam redone to make sure my prescription is accurate and Sandra told me I'd have to pay for it again (as my exam was done back in March). I no longer feel like a valued patient because I was ready to purchase my lenses from Generations as I always have as long as my prescription was right. I obviously wasn't trying to get a free exam, I wanted to make sure my prescription was accurate.

I never said that the date in September were an issue, in fact, that was fine with me. It felt as though she was just being lazy and didn't want to gather new patient info. rip off...false advertising …read more............ we saw an advertisement on tv stating free eye exam and 2 pair of glasses for $79.00. we went into the store on countryside drive. i did the eye test and picked out 2 pair of glasses. i wanted one pair tinted and the other transcitional. they kept putting additional options on and by the time they were done the total came to $1,244.82. i told them that that was very extreme and that i have double coverage and they said oh we only take one of the insurances......then i stated that i was charged for the second pair and they said oh its only a per centage off. my co pay for the glasses was $ 532.00 out of pocket...i feel they should let you know before hand what is what,,,,, then my husband had an eye test and since he goes to a specialist for his diabetes they did a second test and then said they couldn't give him glasses he would have to go to the store at 3200 sisk road in modesto to have the doctor give him a special eye test. so all in all he had 3 eye tests and charged him $ 59.00. he learned from my experence to only order one pair and he had anti-glare and was charged $75.98 which was supposed to be free. his total came to $696.91 so his co pay was $232.99. i think this shop is a rip off and would never never recommend it to anyone..
