Can I give 100 stars? I'm a healthcare consultant and have worked with lots of medical/surgical offices. This place is fantastic, better than the best. They are SO-O-O well-organized: when you arrive you are taken from machine to machine so that Dr. Ash has all of the info needed to make his diagnosis when you see him for your actual appointment. I had bilateral cataract surgery done, with an amazing outcome! The colors in this world are so beautiful; they had gradually faded from my experience. More importantly (to the CHP), I can now see the white lines on the highway!! My surgical outcome exceeds my expectations; I experienced zero pain. Very little downtime. Everyone I have met in the waiting room during pre- and post-surgical visits is happy with their care. My only regret? Why did I wait so long? read more

I went in to pick out frames only right when they opened. They were very friendly and attentive. I never had glasses so they helped me try on frames. I finally settled on a frame and they explained everything very well. Glasses were ready in less than two weeks! read more

The Optical Shop was not professional at all. I took my glasses in to get adjusted on June 21st. The clerk broke my lenses and told me that they would have to send them to another place to get new lenses. I was told they would put a rush on it and I would have my glasses back in 2-3 days. I hadn't heard anything so I called them on June 26th. I was told they are not ready and they would call me. I finally received a text message on July 14 that I could pick them up. When I arrived she had me sign them out and she went in the back to get them. She brought them to me and said here you go. I asked if someone could adjust them for me and was told they were already adjusted and no one is available. They can use some help in Customer Service. read more

Do not purchase glasses here. I purchased very expensive eye glasses with metal frame. First time I've tried metal and oh boy are they heavy. They refused to work with me and said they do not exchange or refund frames regardless of how long you've had them. Needless to say these glasses will NEVER be used and I wasted my money. Had an appt at 1:30 and didn't leave until 5:05. Doctor asked if I wanted glasses? I said no but he asked because he wanted to charge the insurance even when I know I didn't need them. He suggested I get surgery and tried to rush me to see Dr. ash. (Next door) I called the next day to get a referral so I can see a specialist and he denied giving me one so I can seek a second opinion. Do not go here!!!! I was seen by Dr. Kahn. When my eyeglasses arrived, I could not see anything. His office staff was unresponsive, so I sent him a letter. I have never heard back from him. This was an awful and expensive experience. I am left with nowhere to go. I am 75 years old and feel that my age was a negative factor in my lack of caer. Beware of Modesto Eye Center! read more

Pre tester cut me off mid way through my sentence as I explained to her my eye concerns. Maybe I wasn't supposed to talk to her about it but the way she did it was VERY rude. Full disclaimer, I am writing this review on behalf of an experience my parent who is a senior had and since I am the one who has witnessed all the effects this procedure has had, gone to appointments, dealt with the aftermath, etc. I felt compelled to leave this review so it does not happen to anyone else. My parent had Lasik/Glaucoma surgery done in one eye and since than they have have not been able to see out of that eye, almost like they have a sheer clothe like object over that eye and they have had constant excruciating pain in and behind the eye that has greatly affected their everyday life. When we have gone back multiple times to address the issue and figure out how it can be corrected the doctor only insists that the eye is better than before and repeatedly only says over and over "you signed a waiver, you signed a disclaimer". This doctor is more concerned about a lawsuit than correcting a mistake that was made which is very sad and unprofessional. Even going to the office for these follow up appointments have been dreadful because the staff obviously is aware of the situation and only shows annoyance everytime we are there. I do not recommend this clinic at all. I don't wish this pain and change in everyday life on anyone else and I hope no one else has to go through what we are currently going through. read more

First my issue is NOT with Dr. Ash. He is kind and a wonderful doctor. I was so impressed with my Lasik surgery and after care that I brought my wife to get glasses. What a crap show this has been. Glasses were ordered 9/16/21. No one called to notify they were ready. We called checking because a couple weeks had gone by. Glasses had been there and the OA claimed she called to notify. The glasses had incorrect script and missing an upgrade we paid for. They kept telling my wife it takes time to adjust. After insisting there was a problem we took them back...the script was completely wrong. Spoke with office manager Christine on 10/15/21 she was going to check and find out what happened and get back to me. No word. Called back and left her voicemails on 11/2/21 and 11/10/21 and have received to refund or communication. I called today and spoke with a staff member who was bothered that I was calling, Katie was her name. I used to feel to comfortable coming to this office and as a Lasik patient I will still have another follow up. I do not want to ever deal with them again. Sad because the doctors are wonderful. Guess I have to file a case in court to get back my money. It really should not have to come to that. How embarrassing that the staff's incompetence leads their doctors to all this trouble. read more

Super disappointed!! This was my first visit and I arrived 10 minutes early! The receptionist was pleasant and friendly! Went through the process of the vision charts and Exam part with the (nurse). She put my in an exam room to wait for the doctor where I waited and waited!! Finally after 27 minutes I asked how much longer and they said she was finishing up!! Waiting 3 more minutes and finally got up and left!! Terrible experience for my first time!! I won't go back!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would! They are too incompetent to know insurance coverage for visits! Told me my eye pain needed to be seen as a medical visit and that VSP doesnt cover that. Asked me to send them a picture of my id card. Called my old eye center-they looked up my VSP and explained what this place didn't- that I have coverage for this! I had my eyes re checked By Dr.Steinberg I got the 5 star check up I always feel that I am getting the best service and no rushing . She felt that it was time for a new pair of glasses.She referred my paperwork to the opticians and in 5 minutes I was being helped by Heather. I've been here a dozen times in my life and always received great care. Now that I am an adult scheduling appointments for myself, things have gotten harder. I have called the office 5 times over the last two weeks, at all hours of the working day. Not once have any of my phone calls been answered. There is no "call me back" or scheduling appointments online. I live out of town and drive in for appointments so I cannot walk in to schedule one. How am I meant to receive care? read more

My husband and I were referred to this place by our Primary. The waiting area is nice and has a wall water feature. Unfortunately they herd you in like cattle. And you go from one machine to the next right after the person in front of you gets up. The O.A.s don't treat you like human beings they just want to get you in and out. My Optician Assistant was extremely Impersonable, very short and rude. Not just to me but to her fellow coworkers. Unfortunately they don't wear name tags so I don't know her name. The skinniest one of the bunch, Brunette. This was yesterday October 20th 2021. The Dr. On the other hand was very polite and knowledgeable. Also front desk ladies are very nice as well. This is an update to my last review. I think this will be the last time I do business with these people! I called to get an update on my sunglasses, which I placed an order for earlier this month. I called and waited ten minutes on hold, but that wasn't really the hard part. I was told they were ready, so I drove up to the clinic to pick them up. However, I was told they were not ready at all and the woman working my case is out on emergency leave. In a nutshell, I waited on hold 10 minutes only to be lied to and sent on a wild goose chase! I don't see how someone can fuck this up, especially since all of this shit I assume is documented! Clearly, their employees need more training. I am an extremely busy man, and I do not like running around town based on a lie. read more

I saw Dr. Ash here and he is fine, and the reason I'm giving one star is because their staff service is horrible!! They just don't care about you. One time I had to send some paper to EDD in 48h. When I asked for help from their staff members to meet EDD's request, they told me the person is on vacation so you need to wait or we couldn't do this to meet EDD's request or sorry I can send you to someone's voicemail. They just don't care. Their "no" answer does not even sound friendly. I go to other eye centers in Modesto area and this is the worst. I will never come back again!! I would like to first start out with saying that if I can give 10 Stars I would but the system only allows five. I was extremely hesitant in having anybody work on my eyes. I'm just real fearful of things going wrong. From the moment I met dr. Ash I felt 100% secure and safe. I went through two procedures one for each eye. I now have the vision that I did back when I was 30 years old. Dr. Ash and his staff are extremely professional, make you feel totally at ease and know exactly what they're doing. Appointment: 9am Checked In: 8:45-8:50a Exit: 10:30-10:40a Greeted by a beautiful team, they were very friendly and expedited the check in, waited a bit to be seen but isn't that typcial of any office? I was hesitant about taking my 6 y.o. for an eye exam but Dr. Steinberg is really amazing with him. She had a cool way of putting drops into his eyes without him fussing.... (shhh its magic!) Dr. Steinberg was able to bring him calmness via counting and breathing excercises during moments of hesitance. She was focused on him and explained things clearly like an experienced kindergrten teacher so that he understood everything. We were issued a prescription, sent to a wonderful assistant who helped the kid pick his frames. There was no push towards any specific frames...she let him browse carefully and was very patient with him (He tried on many ...again and again!!) Overall a great experience. I did call the next day to request the PD number and was told their office policy was not to give that info out with the prescription. As a first time buyer of prescription glasses, I did not realize this but the receptionist was very nice in her delivery. Still awaiting the glasses ... so i will have to update this rating in a few weeks time. read more

They are amazing at protecting against COVID but three people came in and I overheard them saying what do you mean I don't have an appointment you called to confirm? The whole facility is incredibly non personal. It was like a cattle call. I thought the dr did good but their selection of glasses is small. couldn't wait to leave. Let me start by saying that I live with a condition called keratoconus. For the last 15 years I've viewed the world through smudged glasses, not because they were dirty but because my vision was that bad. My appointment at Modesto eye center was simply fate. My regular doctors office has been closed due to the pandemic so I searched for a local office that was open and willing to see new patients, luckily Dr. Kahn was willing to see me. For as long as I can remember I've been told that I'm not a candidate for contacts. Dr. Kahn not only told me that I needed contacts, but he walked me through the process and assured me it would change my vision for the better. I was fitted for a trial pair of hard contacts but after two weeks I was unsuccessful at putting them in on my own, I was feeling discouraged and beginning to think that every doctor before Dr. Kahn was right. The process felt like an impossible task, and a waste of everyone's time. Next I received a call saying my second pair of contacts were ready to be picked up and my heart sank, because I couldn't even figure out how to use the trial pair. I showed up at the office and the very first person I seen was Dr. Kahn. We had small talk and I mentioned that I've been having trouble putting the contacts in and he replied positively and assured me that he would have someone sit with me and give me a few tips. Leticia Howey was that person. I struggled and started feeling overwhelmed, I suggested that I would go home and try to figure it out. Leticia quickly said no! I've already had lunch and we're going to do this together. She was more than patient and she corrected me while cheering me on. After a few failed attempts I was able to get the contacts in. I cried like a baby, it was literally eye-opening. Leticia gave me the boost I needed. I left the office able to see. Ive always felt my way around the world and now I'm actually able to see objects, colors and more importantly people I love and haven't seen fully in years. Wow, where to start! I had a horrendous prescription, I think about -7.75 in each eye plus astigmatism. I was in ortho-k lenses (short for orthokeratology) since I was 10 years old, and I'm now 25. I have been seeing Dr. Steinberg at this same practice and I decided to pull the trigger and get LASIK. All the staff was so kind and helpful in getting my eyes ready for LASIK. Tasha was soooo sweet and informative with scheduling and answering my 5384 questions. Dr. Ash has the best bedside manner of any surgeon I've ever met (and I've worked in health care so I've seen a lot). He and Tasha both made me so comfortable and happy during surgery, and I couldn't be more pleased with my results!! I never thought I'd have such clear and precise vision. You even get a little goody bag after the LASIK, how cute is that?! I would recommend this place to anyone, and if I had to get LASIK again I'd do it here in a heartbeat! Unfortunately we will not be returning. Honestly ridiculously your pretty much guaranteed to wait an 1 to 2 hours in the waiting room. With the exception of our first visit. With the girls and the front desk acting like it's completely normal. The last straw was today my husband called before our daughters 4:00 appointment and asked "are you guys running behind if so I have things I need to get done just let me know?" The girl who answered the phone said "yes about 45 minutes if you want to wait to come in around 4:30 we should be able to check you in and you won't have to wait. We arrived at 4:30 the office manager looked at her watch,rolled her eyes and walked away?? We took a seat and waited as they continued to take other customers who had later appointments. At 4:55 we had enough when another customer complained his appointment at 4:30 they told him it would be a few more minutes then took him back. Keep in mind our appointment was at 4:00. Unless you enjoy sitting in waiting rooms I would not recommend this place at all. read more

I went there and they would not let you in the gate or the building until you filled out forms in your car first. It was very cold, raining and very windy. This shows that they do not care about their patients. I was going inside for and vision test, why can't you fill out the paperwork inside also. Does not make sense. Also the form asks about 7 pages of info. Including if you have arthritis, gout, all previous injuries, illnesses and surgeries, if you are depressed, acne, anxiety, trouble urinating. It goes on and on. I expect that if I was seeing Dr. Ash. But just for a vision test?? I truly believe that this is a violation of the HIPAA laws as the Optometrist is not a medical doctor. DO NOT COME HERE!! My grandmother who is in her 80s has to get frequent injections in her eye. Dr. Ash, his receptionist, and his staff, are TERRIBLE. I was not there personally but during the procedure my grandmother WOKE UP AND COULD FEEL AND HEAR EVERYTHING that was going on during the procedure. I am not sure if the anesthesiologist is to blame or Dr. Ash. She was crying and still talks about it and we had to have her go to therapy because of her bad dreams. During the procedure when she woke up and felt everything, she told Dr. Ash and he replied "it's okay hunny we're almost done." Also the receptionist DID NOT LET HER USE THE RESTROOM until she begged and it was not because of Covid restrictions because she watched other people go in just fine. I have already filed a COMPLAINT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH. But DO NOT GO HERE for fear of waking up and feeling everything during a procedure and just the terrible customer service. read more

My mom is a new patient here, but if it was for the first receptionist I spoke to, we would have gone elsewhere!! When I called to make an appointment for her (she is spanish speaking) the lady that finally answered was very short with me & spoke to me in a very rude manor. She put me on hold without even saying she was going to or from what I imagine maybe trying to find someone who could speak Spanish? Well, I was on hold for 5 minutes... I was about to hang up, when a very bubbly/sweet voice came on and apologized for the wait. I believe her name was Yvette. She was extremely polite and spoke to my mother in Spanish! Very appreciative for that. Makes is more personal. She had very great customer service, I hope our experience in the office is like the end of our phone call and most definitely not the beginning because I was treated poorly. read more

Although my eyes vision has gotten significantly worse they are willing to back up their work and re do it for me at no charge. WOW! Way to back up your work!
