So this is my 2nd review. I got an email from Daniela s after my first review and was given a number to contact about my missing frame. Well I called the number and was told they would be here Monday the 24th. I was transferred to the grossmont location where I purchased them from and a young lady told me my frame actually came in on December 30th and are lost!!! Lol!!! They lost my frame and can't locate them!!!!! This has to be a joke right? No call to say such or nothing!! After being told they would be here Monday!!!! She then proceeded to ask if I wanted her to order me another and they will be in in maybe two weeks!!!!! I mean you just can't make this stuff up! She told me she would have a manager contact me in 40 minutes cause he's on a conference call or something but still didn't confirm she ordered my new frame! Just a joke smh!!! So I came in today and spoke with manager Alex who made the situation right. Customer service goes a long way and he handled the situation amazingly! I couldn't of asked for a better solution to the problem. I appreciate how professional and sincere he was! It's greatly appreciated read more

My wife and I spent over $1000 dollars for our glasses; after seven months the protective sealant on the lense started to peal off making it very uncomfortable to use the glasses. upon returning to the store to address the problem I was told they did not come with a warranty unless purchased separately, we were expected to pay for the lense once again. manager rude and not service oriented, product overpriced and poor quality. no recommendation from me, look elsewhere for your glasses. read more

When you call they say glasses in 48 hours when you get here they say TWO WEEKS due to Covid. Really? I should have gone to eyeglass world at least they don't do the bait and switch. Also they say there are glasses for $59 there are no glasses whatsoever in the store for $59 that is crazy talk about false advertising this place is really gone downhill. read more

Stanton Optical - Back office where we waited over an hour after making an appointment. Ridiculous! - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - La Mesa, California

I have been using Stanton Optical in Grossmont for years. I recently went in and had an annual eye exam and purchased the buy one get one free frames. I picked up my glasses today and everything is very blurry. I feel like I am in a fish bowl. The associate who was assisting me told me I needed to give my eyes 7-10 days to adjust. While taking a look at my glasses the associate said to her coworker "her glasses are fine, she is just being picky" and "if you just adjust it a tiny bit maybe it will be good enough for her". I was less than 5 feet away and can hear your associate bad mouthing a customer. I told the associate I was not comfortable driving in the new glasses since they are so blurry. She scheduled me an appointment 4 days away to have my glasses looked at. I've spent all day trying to adjust to my new glasses but I have to squint in order to make what I am looking at clear. I also ordered one of my glasses with transitions so they get dark when I go outside. The glasses go the lightest shade of grey and don't nearly get as dark as the last time I ordered transitions. I gave the two stars for the nice selection of glasses and the doctor who gave me my exam, but I am extremely displeased with the quality of my glasses and the rude employees who never offered to find a solution to fix the blurry issues. Back to my old glasses I guess. read more

Highly recommend them!! I used my warranty to replace lenses. Alex even comped a new frame . Wow!! Thank you Stanton Optical and Alex!!

Stanton is probably my favorite eye glass location in San Diego. Not only is this location really good, the staff is caring and invested in your eyesight. Being a first time eyeglass wearer I felt comfortable and not pressured as I shopped. Alex helped me by finding and ordering frames I fell in love with and was able to give me a heafty discount. I highly recommend choosing Stanton optical as your next eyeglass place. read more

I bought glasses from here in which I felt like I got a great deal with my insurance. I love the glasses and the sales associate Jasmine was helpful and went above and beyond in helping me. She's very knowledgeable with the glasses. Yes I will be buying my next pair of glasses from them. read more

The staff at Stanton Optical in La Mesa patiently work with you and within your budget to ensure you get the glasses you need... and love. I ordered single vision lenses when I should have ordered progressives. When I shared this with Alex, the branch manager, he IMMEDIATELY told me to pick out another pair of frames and he would take care of me. Wow! What a relief. Over the next forty minutes going around and around the store trying to find the "right" frame, different members of the staff checked on me, showed me a couple of options; but never pressured me. Once I made my decision, Alex worked within my budget to help me get the progressive lenses I needed. This staff really wants you to leave happy and seeing well. read more

I was so pleased with my experience here! The staff were so incredibly nice. I just needed to purchase a new pair of glasses and there were so many selections available and all at a good price. I was told my glasses would be ready in about two weeks and they were ready much sooner than that. With my luck, a fight had broken out with unknown men in the parking lot. When the guys left, an employee was so kind to walk me to my car to make sure I got in safely. That really was the kicker! Very pleased with my glasses and extra kudos to the great staff! read more

If I could've given six stars I would've. I cannot recommend Tony enough. Tony is the head of sales and he helped me so much by going above and beyond the call of duty fixing my glasses. Really all I can say is Tony is the best. I've tried other Stanton Optical's but they do not even compare to the wonderful service and great deals I received at the La Mesa store. Tony is the reason why. read more

I made the mistake of going with the penguin instead of the world or the owl and let me tell you it won't happen again. One they said they did it same day they lied the optometrist was online they only had techs in the shop. Then, when we finally received our driving glasses, a week later, they didn't have the anti-glare that we were told was on all of them when we tried to explain that we were unhappy the little guy in there with the cloudy eye, proceeded to be very rude and tell us we didn't know what we were talking about. Thieves and besides that under $100 for two para glasses is bullshit. We paid over $400.. I cannot tell you how bad I would love for a shark, a killer whale, or even a seal to eat that damn penguin that one rotten stinking penguin. I would never recommend this place to anybody the amount of rude they put out at you when you have a question or comment about their product is beyond reasonable. Shark eat penguin. and I only gave it one star because I can't give it negative stars. read more

Quick and easy to get an appointment for late in the evening after work and staff was so friendly and happy to help.

Went for eye exam to get new prescription for my contacts. I was very clear on that. Once it was done, I was told I needed to make another appt. Since the doctor wrote it wrong. Took another day off work and got another test. The guy that works there named Haykel, was so rude to me and quoted me a price of 250 dollars with my insurance and I had been quoted 49 dollars the day before. I was practically in tears as he was rude and then said you can just go somewhere else then". I was with stanton for about 8 years but I will NEVER go back or refer anyone there. You will end up paying more then anywhere else. The manager John W. Was able to calm me down and I paid my 49.00. Contacts were supposed to be there in 3 to 4 days. It's been 11 and I am told they are still not there. read more

I saw the 2 for $69 ad and made an appointment. At my appointment Cody greeted me and set me up for my included eye exam. After the eye exam Cody helped me find a great set of frames. I decided to get 1 silver and 1 brown color. My lens for the first pair were done in less than an hour. They fit perfectly. But the 2nd pair of frames were out of stock. They'd order more and call me. After a week they call, and I head back. When I tried them on I notice that they are the same color as my first pair. They made a mistake, my 2nd pair was suppose to be brown. But what bothered me was they did not apolgize. It seems Cody was the one who made the mistake, but no one wanted to own up to it. Again, I'd have to come back. After a few weeks I call them and they tell me that my glasses are ready but have been misplaced. I've finally received my 2nd pair, but the whole situation has been utterly frustrating. The 2 for $69 deal is just not worth the hassle. In the future, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Robert Ball was the representative who helped me. He was very professional, informative and a perfect employee for Stanton Optical. Hello, I decided to write this review because I don't want anybody to go through a same situation as I went through. Alex (rude) The way this place manages pricing is not very honest (shady ) I bought 3 pairs of glasses starting price was $1,200 plus ,long story short price out the door was $400 plus Like making business in Tijuana horrible and I bought a insurance for my glasses, I scratched my glasses and went back ,insurance covers only frame ,the person in charge of the crew said it will be around 250 for replacement of one pair no frame somehow he said let me help you I gonna give you family and friends discount,I didn't ask for that but I say ok total $160 well I thought it was nice of him , but when I came back to pick up the glasses ,I ask another employee what did my insurance cover she called the same guy he was in another spot he ignored her 3 times then he came very agitated asking me !!!! Are you saying that you paid to muuuch!! Super loud!! !holly cow!,I gave you my family and friends deal no way!! I said no need to scream I can hear .and I told him my question if when I purchased insurance for my glasses if that helps at all he said NOOOO,only frame they never explain that on the beginning to purchase that , however is no need to be so rude .I hope this will help you to decide it's so crucial when you need help, and you get someone very violent very disappointed customer service at this location at.Grossmont shopping center read more

Awesome Service. Quick and painless.

I went in for an eye exam at this place a few months back. I took the prescription and ordered glasses and also got contacts from somewhere else because the $99 glasses I wanted from their store would have ended up costing $815. It wasn't even anything special, not any major brand, but all the antiglare, etc, etc, added up. Put both on and my vision was completely blurry. My eyes had not changed that much because I could still see fine with my old glasses. I went back for another exam with a doctor this time and sure enough the prescription the tech gave me was not correct. I told the brand manager- Mariela this and all I wanted them to do was replace my one box of contacts-- not even compensate me for the glasses which cost a few hundred dollars. She was RUDE, unreasonable and blamed me for the wrong prescription. I have never had such BAD service from any businesses. She was a complete B---and I will never go back there. For the price you get a tech, not a real doctor in person. Don't waste you money! By the way as a follow up my wife called the store and Mariela hung up on her! What kind of business is this? It's run by a bunch of baboons! read more

My mom needed new glasses and her optometrist was closed. I found Stanton Optical and called their office at 4 pm. They told me they were open, screened us over the phone )because of the corona) and were able to schedule us for a 5:45 appointment that evening. When we arrived, Martin helped us out right away. He made the entire visit seamless and pleasant! *The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is because we were hoping for a larger designer section. Aside from that, service and location were great. read more

My first experience purchasing glasses back in March, went to the La Mesa location. Went in for my kid cousin, and because of an overall good experience, ended up getting glasses for her sister, too. The kids seem to like their selection, the wait for their exams was fine, the prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. We recently needed a pair to be repaired and the experience was equally positive. You can tell Alex is a family man, too, and can appreciate the importance of taking care of your loved ones needs. Thank you, Alex, our family will be returning. read more
