This is the second time I have used Stanley Steemer (about one year apart) and the same crew showed up. Roman and Steven were great! On time, efficient, thorough, and didn't push too hard on the added services; they were mentioned but not tried to be rammed down my throat. That's a big one for me. I had one company once tell me they couldn't do my carpet unless I added some stupid 400.00 dollar service. I told him to leave and "miraculously" he got permission from his boss to do the original service requested. As a female alone in the house I felt very safe with Stanley Steemer and Roman and Steven--an essential feature in my book. I would highly recommend them. read more

We were upsold a grout sealing and color change a year ago. The color started to fade back to grey. The manager came to look at it and said it just needed to be cleaned. We cleaned some right then with their cleaner and it did not work. I said I wanted my grout to all match and maybe that meant it all had to be redone. A crew, Chris and somebody, came out and cleaned it and fixed a few spots. The colors were all different and I said I was not satisfied and they needed to fix it. I spoke to manager, Abraham, and told him the same thing. I got the run around about how it needed to dry. I said no it all needs to be fixed. They started to fix it and then SNUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE BEFORE FINISHING. I was right there and they left without saying a word. They took off in the van with no word and my stuff everywhere. Never use this Stanley Steemer! We had our tile cleaned. We were reasonably pleased with the cleaning job. However, shortly after the technicians left we discovered that they stole items from our home! We immediately contacted the business. It took them two days to respond to us. When they finally did, they told us it would take another day to talk to the technicians about whether they stole the items. After they finally got back to us one more day later, SURPRISE -- the technicians claimed they didn't steal the items. Stanley Steemer could have cared less about this! They told us there was nothing they could do for us. They wouldn't credit us any amount to reimburse us for the items. They just told us to contact the police. They are employing people who steal. DO NOT trust Stanley Steemer and Do NOT let them into your home! read more

LIES! LIES! LIES! This is my second carpet cleaning with Stanley Steemer. The first round went fine, so when I arranged the recent appointment, I requested the same crew as last time. I was told that had been arranged. That was NOT the case. I explained my extreme asthma, and need for NO fragrance of ANY kind to the new crew. I explained that the previous crew rinsed the carpet with a second pass of just water/steam to remove any soap residue. "No problem" they said. I asked for the enzyme treatment that did not have any smell (like before). I was told the enzyme treatment had a lavender scent, that would dissipate after 3 days. The previous crew had provided the bottle of enzyme treatment they used for me to smell that had no scent prior to usage. It was now explained to me that was not what would be used this time, and if I wanted the no-stink enzyme treatment, I could purchase a bottle for $16 and use it myself. This prompted a call to the Stanley Steemer 1-800 number to find out what went so horribly wrong. I was assured that I would be made happy, and a message would be sent to the manager for him to call me. When the crew leader returned from his truck to inform me that he was out of the no-stink enzyme treatment, I was promised a call from the "manager" as well. Needless to say, no calls ever came. The crew continued with the work (no enzyme treatment). When finished, I was asked to look over the carpet. It did not look any cleaner, just wetter. The crew leader then proceeded to tell me that he did the whole job with JUST water per my instructions. WHAT? No, no, no. He explained that rinsing the soap out of the carpet was an extra step that could not be done. He said the deep steam cleaning was a truly effective cleaning method, and that the steam removed 95% of the dirt/allergens. Since I signed the promise to pay prior to the work starting, I paid the man while his partner sat in my driveway and honked his horn. I planned to discuss this unfortunate exchange of NON SERVICES with the manager when he called. He never did. $107 to wet my carpet and piss me off. Just great. I want my money back since I didn't get ANYTHING for my money. I borrowed my mother's Hoover home carpet cleaner, and cleaned the family room carpet myself. The water was filthy. There was no way the steam cleaning did anything. Do yourself a favor, buy a home carpet cleaner, and do it yourself. Save the hassle and aggravation. read more

I had Stanley Steemer come out and pick up an area rug for cleaning. It was scheduled to be returned in 5 days (the day my 10 guests were coming to stay for the holidays) They did not come out at the appointed time and when I called I was told they didn't know it was supposed to be returned that day. After becoming upset with them because I had company coming, they said they would bring it because it was supposedly ready. The carpet was very wet and smelled awful! I had them take it back. I did not hear from them again for 4 weeks!!!!! I repeatedly called and left messages, but no one returned my calls. They have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was totally dissatisfied with the tile and grout cleaning job that Stanley Steamer provided. I am 65 years old and no longer wished to get down on my knees to clean my grout. Stanley Streamer was scheduled and within 3 mins. of entering my home the team tried to sell me on a grout cover up product for double the price of just cleaning the tile and grout for an additional $400. Refusing this option I reaffirmed my desire to just have my grout cleaned so I wouldn't have to do it myself. Well they got their tile cleaning machine out, finishing going over all the floor without moving the frig. or stove. When asked the team they stated that they didn't do that. My complaint then was I asked for all my tile to be cleaned not just some of it. The team started to pack up seeming to leave so I thought it would be a good time to inquire as to how they were planning on cleaning the grout. Their reply was that it was clean. I protested as it was obviously not clean. Their reply was that the grout was stained, not, "Oh, you're not happy? Let me go over it again." So here I am having paid near $300 for having some of my tile cleaned and still having to get down on my hands and knees to clean the grout myself, which I than did. Looks good now. Stanley Steamer upon my complaint was going to arrange a rescheduled appointment probably to sell me the grout cover up to, quote unquote, satisfy me. Never again. read more

Very disappointed. Had one-year-old carpet cleaned in a rental unit I own on 4/7 as a make-ready for rental. The tenant took possession on 4/23. Before she even moved her furniture in, she used her steam cleaner and pulled out three canisters of nasty water. In the two weeks and two days between Stanley Steemer's service and the tenant taking possession, no one had even walked on the carpet (other than briefly showing the place). The Stanley Steemer manager I talked to refused do anything, such as consider a partial refund or company credit. As I told him, I did MY part. I showed up and let the team in, left them to do their job, and showed up at the end to pay them. I don't think they did THEIR job. I'll be finding another service for the next time. read more

Service was terrible. They came and picked up a rug to clean. Was to get it back middle of the next week. Did not hear from them. Monday of last week they had to find rug only to tell us it had not been cleaned yet. Would get it by Friday. Nothing from them. Was told Friday evening it would be delivered today 05/31 between 8-5. It is 6:25 pm and no rug. Called and they say it is on it's way. Worse business I have ever dealt with. Two weeks. Sit at home for 9 hours today 8-5 and it's still not here. I purchased a 3 cleanings contract from Steemer and used two. I have decided to replace my carpet with hardwood, so I contacted Steemer to ask if I could apply the balance to clean my leather sofa and loveseat. I was flatly denied that privilege...effectively losing about $120. I have always thought the Steemer was the best, and have used them for more than 15 years. I will, of course, never use them again or recommend them to anyone else. read more

We purchased a home with a lot of tile, and we have been in it about nine months. We were seeking some peace of mind from a professional steam cleaner that our grout could be easily cleaned should it become looking dirty. We chose a room that seemed to us had the most discoloration in the grout. We also chose a big name company, Stanley Steamer, to perform the work and if we liked the results we would consider the additional work. My wife cleaned up after the men that cleaned the bathroom floor. They had dried mud on their shoes and tracked it into the house. That was a big black eye on our experience. The grout did become more clean looking to me. My wife didn't notice a difference. The other thing that stood out to me is that there was no attachment device to clean in hard to reach places such as around a toilet. I would have thought the experts in the field would have thought of AND problem solved this already. Nothing too bad to say but this company will not be first choice when considering further floor grout restoration. Making a mess when you were hired to clean the floors is poor form. read more

Last Friday Stanley Steamer "cleaned and treated" carpets in my master bedroom and the walk-in closets. A significant dirty water spill by a contractor was given several attempts and seemed gone. (The spaces were completely devoid of furniture.) The next morning the contractor's stain had resurfaced. I got out my 1999 Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner. (I use a professional detergent sparingly.) I did the spill and since I had a full tank I did the whole room. Upon emptying the residue reservoir, I had dark, brown water. So I did it again with more detergent. 2nd attempt same results as my first attempt. So I did a 3rd cleaning this time using only warm water in order to remove the detergent. The results, slightly lighter, brown dirty reservoir water. I know most people aren't going to do this sort of test. I didn't start out to prove Stanley Steamer's equipment didn't really get carpets clean. I spent slightly over $115.00 with S.S. Do yourself a favor. Go to Walmart and purchase a Hoover SteamVac for between $139.00 & $149.00. It comes with everything in the box. I've used mine since 1999. It's as simple as vacuuming the carpet only with water mixed w/ detergent. You'll save a fortune and your carpets and rugs and hard floors will be deep-down clean and sanitary. The Stanley Steamer guys could not have been more professional or polite. It's their equipment that failed to get my carpet clean. read more

The Austin Statement ad said $99 for 3 rooms, on the phone they gave me a quote $348 and said the discount will apply. I got my bill over $500 and the carpet is in worse shape than it was there are creases where there were none.They suppose to have deodorized,that did not happen. In other words not only I was over charged now I have to figure out how to fix the damage. read more

I called on my day of cleaning to confirm the cleaning and enzyme treatment was fragrance free as I was told when I placed my reservation. The woman told me they did not use any chemical smelling fragrance, it was a fresh smell of baby powder and would go away after 3 days. I don't know about everyone else but baby powder stinks to high heaven. At that time my reservation was canceled. This whole fiasco was misrepresentation on the part of Stanley Steemer. read more

I signed a contract with Stanley Steemer after they had cleaned my carpet. I was told that the contract would cover the exactly the same thing that they had done before. I scheduled a cleaning today under the contract and when they get here, they tell me about all these extra charges to have the same thing done. Don't trust these people. They failed to show up and called well past the service window. The manager called 2 days later only after my request. He offered a 10% coupon. I have used SS many times, but their service has eroded over the years. The local management is not able solve problems or be proactive when they know they can't make it on time. I had Stanley Steamers come out this morning to my ONE bedroom condo, and was quoted $174 for THREE rooms. The guys tried to charge me for two rooms for the main living/dining room (not separated). I looked online and saw that "an area is a room that is up to 300 square feet." My condo TOTAL is less than 600 square feet. I've had my carpet shampooed twice by other companies and no other company charged for two rooms for the main area. I asked for the office number in Austin so I could speak to someone about the cost and was told that "no one was in the office." Then somehow the guy called his boss and did get the cost lowered to $99. I appreciate the lower cost, but that should have never been a question for such a small space (not to mention there is no furniture that they had to mess with!). I'm INCREDIBLY disappointed with the customer service and will make sure to let as many people know how much you all try to take advantage of customers. Just an FYI, it's not good for business to try to price gauge your custeroms. read more

I paid nearly $700.00 dollars to have the floors cleaned in my less than 2300 square foot home. The concrete floors were filthy afterwards-I swiped over them with a wet towel and they were still black. The carpets (which I told I did not need done as I am having them replaced with hardwoods soon) was insisted upon because now I know is the only method they can use to "Fake" a cleaning. Immediately afterwards, certain stains reappeared. I told them specifically to stay out of my master bedroom closet as this was 2 men I do not know and because of personal items. Instead they told me when I was in another part of the home that they had ignored my request and cleaned that room anyway when I was otherwise involved without asking me. Do not hire this company. And....part of what I paid for too was grout cleaning-did not see one iota of a difference in any of the grout that was lightly stained-it still is. Again, do not hire this company. read more

The guy that did the cleaning worked hard and was very friendly, but his manager/the guy who came to give me the quote was very off putting. He complained about the parking situation (even though I indicated there was not going to be adjacent parking), and then reprimanded me for calling a sectional, a couch...(please note that my "sectional" is a couch with an ottoman). After reprimanding me, the manager told me it's ok, he would charge me for a couch instead of a sectional (which is double the price). I told him it was ok if he had to charge me for the sectional, and he said no no he would charge me for the couch. I thanked him. After the work was done, the worker told me the manager would come back in for payment. After a few mins, the worker (not the manager) came back in and said they couldn't approval for changing it to a couch, so I ended up having to pay for the sectional. I just felt like the whole situation was handled really poorly. I will not be using Stanley Steemer's again. read more
