Our ground floor apartment was flooded by a unit above us, and our landlord called First Choice Carpet Care to remove the water and salvage the carpet. An hour after the call was placed, the carpet cleaner showed up. His name was Nick. Before vacuuming the water up, he wanted to remove the carpet pads, which required moving furniture to get access to the carpet pads. Nick was very rough with our furniture and belongings. We didn't realize how rough til the next morning when I found my men's Kenneth Cole watch smashed. Not only that, it was located under a bookshelf, almost as if someone had tried to hide it. As Nick was the only person who moved any furniture that night, it was clear that Nick broke the watch.
Upon discovering the broken watch, we called the owner of First Class Carpet Care, Craig Beaver. He was somewhat apologetic, but simply passed the buck. Craig told us that Nick was a contractor, and we would have to take it up with him. We called Nick, who in a very childish manner told us that we couldn't prove that he broke the watch, and that it was his word against ours.
