Pros: The restaurant was over the water and had a GREAT ambiance. The pricing is as good as it gets, I was surprised at low my bill was. I got a half order of raw oysters and a half pound of boiled shrimp. Whoever shucked the oysters needs to stay and never leave, because they were cleaned and shucked to perfection. The shrimp tasted absolutely phenomenal, I couldn't finish them after two beers and the oysters! Cons: It took a while to place my order and to pay my bill. Good food and good service. Took my mother here for lunch while in town for a few hours. We loved the location and the view on the patio/porch. We had the alligator bites for the ap. They were delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked well. Mom had the fish and chips. She was very happy with her choice. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was cooked pefectly! Not even the slightest bit dry, which is easy to do with Mahi Mahi. The server was great too, attentive and polite. My wife and recently had a late lunch at the River Bottom Grille. We both had the seafood special of the day...grilled Mahi-Mahi. The meal came with rice, for on the cob, and steamed broccoli. The food was terrific! The Mahi was just as good as some I had recently at a much more upscale restaurant in Atlanta and the portion size was larger. And the price was about half! The Mahi-Mahi was not on the regular menu. It was the daily special and I recommend it highly if you try this restaurant. You really can hardly beat the price of $15, which included the delicious sweet tea! read more

First time visit to this place. The food was good, unfortunately the service didn't match. There were four people in our party and when the food came....my dinner wasn't right.and had to go back. When we arrived, we talked to the hostess and she said there was a 20 minute wait and that the bar was full. We stood there waiting for 20 minutes and there was a table open and available the whole time we waited. After waiting for at least 15 minutes, other customers walked in and got to sit immediately. We talked to the hostess and she said we didn't give her our name but she never asked us anything. We had stood in front of them for the whole 15-20 minutes waiting. Before we arrived we called to make sure they had fried oysters available and they said yes. After we finally got a table we ordered 2 fried oyster plates and they told us they were out. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Poorest service I have ever received from anywhere in Florence. read more

A co-worker stumbled across this place driving around the area. He called an audible on our prior discussion of lunch plans and the group collectively opted to try it out for lunch today after I performed my Yelp due diligence. A group of 5 of us made our way over around 11:45. We sat upstairs with a great view. The menu covers the basic bar and grill fare: Burgers, salads, sandwiches, seafood and steak. Our server came over promptly and provided good service. A coworker and I split the alligator tail appetizer, a couple others split a seafood dip. The mains included: fish and chips, a buffalo chicken flatbread, a philly flat bread and a salad. The alligator was flash fried, light breaded, crispy hot and the absolute most tender I've ever had. It was served atop iceberg lettuce and shredded cheese, which was a bit out of place. The alligator was still the best I've ever had. The philly flat bread was the servers suggestion and it was good. $9.00. Large sandwich with fries. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well. The atmosphere is shabby cool floating restaurant right in the middle of the Florence Harbor Marina. A small camp ground is right down the edge of the river and there's a small playground under the bridge. Great views. Cool little spot. If I lived in the area I would absolutely see being a regular here. read more

The River Bottom Burger is the bomb! It may quite possibly be the best burger we have ever eaten. We also tried the shrimp flat. It was delicious. Moist plump grilled shrimp, tasty sautéed mushrooms and pepper jack cheese. What a combo! The staff was attentive and very friendly. Wow, what a disappointment. I thought this place would be good, but I was wrong. We were told (well after ordering) that they were out of salad, and ham & cheese. Really? How can you run out of those items? The food was average at best, and the service was just plain terrible. It took over an hour to get our meal, and some folks in our party weren't served until well after the rest of us were finished. Not only that, but employees came by on two separate occasions to give us somebody else's order! Then the waitress got our orders all mixed up when it came time to pay the bill. The gator app is good. The beer is cold but expensive. The service was okay and the entrees are only mediocre. The bisque was salty and everything was on the expensive side. My wife and I really like this restaurant. The location is great, views lovely. service is always excellent. I had an issue with the chef who thought she should over season (by that I mean SALT) the cajun seafood pasta dish. I sent it back which got a sneer from the chef, but I didn't care. I arrived at 4 pm and to reserve seating in an area to celebrate my wife's birthday. The person I had to speak too would not seat me and our party was supposed to be there at 5:00 sharp. So, I was left sitting there. At five our party showed up, then they tell me we can't seat you. So there I am with 20 guests and birthday gifts and cake, etc. By the way, when I arrived, the place was not even 25 percent occupied.
