[[HIGHLIGHT]]Local, v homey, popular, somewhat divey, friendly pub eatery got recommended on my visit to Florence[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not a quiet place, so if u can get over that, u will dig the esoteric atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Was a bit skeptical at first, they have a limited menu focused on 'hot dogs'; So I ordered the Jalapeño Popper Veggie Dog, .. .. Hit The SPOT. Loaded with sliced jalapeños, and a novel ranch type condiment. Never had a 'dog' like this. Everything comes loaded with their custom 'chips', plastered with chz, onions, & I don't know what. Original and Tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Check out the active bar pic; looks like it feels. Groups of adults 'talking' at each other :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is my kinda spot. A local tavern with amazing bar food more specific custom hot dogs. Paired with a fantastic beer selection it's the perfect hangout. Friendly service just like a local tavern should have. It's a must in downtown Florence.

A solid "3" (good in my book) with the potential of a "4" on repeat visits, and if I was a local I'd probably stop in here semi-regularly. I was in town for ShoalsFest and needed lunch before the second day of music. Also thought it would be nice to grab a drink or two before heading into the music and much higher, more limited beverage options. Walking around the downtown area, a lot of restaurants and bars are actually closed on weekends? So it's nice this one was open and serving hungry/thirsty ShoalsFest customers. I saw some folks walking in as I approached, so I opened the door and was told they weren't open but would do so at noon promptly. Glancing at my watch, I saw it was 11:45 am. So I found a nearby picnic table and read. I saw folks entering at about 11:55, so walked back over at noon and entered a packed house. Orders are at the first bar (multiple bar seats) and with such a crowd took a bit of time. Seems they have a few local rules (1 drink order per person at a time, not sure if that rules out shot+beer orders; 1.25 oz pours instead of 2 oz). Drink prices for "brunch" times were solid, $4 mimosas or bloody marys, etc. Lots of beer on tap. Food options included some sandwiches but primarily hotdogs, all fairly priced. I spent about an hour here and it was steady the whole time. I had a bloody mary and two different beers, two hotdogs and loaded chips w/ each. The drinks were fairly priced and good. Food fairly priced and okay--I didn't care for the chilli on the dog, and my other option which had grilled sauerkraut, onions and cheese was a tad bit better. The loaded chips may have been housecooked but reminded me of lays, and had a ton of melted mozzarella and other toppings. They were okay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the overall atmosphere here and it seems like a great place for locals particularly when they're not slammed for events[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but even as busy as it was service was great and efficient. Drinks were good, food was okay. I'd come back.

Wiseacre beer tap on the ceiling! That's my cousins' brewery :) nice to see!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cool and funky tavern in Florence.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We visited while in the area to see the Pope's Tavern Museum. It seems to be attached to an arcade type of place. Definitely more of a tavern/bar feel than restaurant feel despite the full menu; menus wait on tables and you go to the bar to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior decorations are very cool and fun. Lots of funky lights and funny art[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. There's a wall of fame for beer drinkers wherein their visages are put on top of hot dogs -- very nice. lol. My dad especially had a great time; he loved the music and the atmosphere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lighting is a little dim so it's kinda hard to see the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Large array of beer and other drink options. The menu mostly has hot dogs, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas. No fries here -- house made chips with ranch instead. The bartender was super friendly and patient with us. My parents got a chili cheese dog and smoky slaw dog; I copied my mom with the chili cheese. We all enjoyed our food! The chip serving isn't especially large but the hot dogs are sizable and very tasty. The sesame seed bun was perfectly toasted and stood up nicely to all the toppings. The chili was flavorful and I liked the Cajun spices on the chili cheese dog. That made my very spice-averse mom's nose run but if you're anything but the weeniest of weenies I'm sure you'll be fine! Hahaha. My dad really enjoyed the smoky slaw dog. He and my mom split their dogs so they could have half of each and she wound up liking that one even more than the chili. If I'd paid closer attention to the menu I might've tried the jalapeño popper styled dog...if I return in the future, would definitely go there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, nice, vibey place for a simple but delicious meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And I'm sure it's an even better watering hole for thirsty students and townies alike![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Where do I start?! That's the best beginning I have to date! The service was top notch and appreciated. From start to finish it was fun. I had two hot dogs: Korean and sweet hot, both were awesome! Hooray. Great beer menu! I was shocked. Overall: I shall return

Seriously tough call on the rating here. I think I'll settle on a 3 but it was super close to a 4,…read morejust several minor frustrations added up. I came here with one of my best friends who was home for Thanksgiving to have a girl's day out. BeeZr advertises a nice-looking brunch on the weekends so we thought we'd try it out. She wound up not being able to meet until later in the afternoon but I'm not opposed to a late brunch, so we got there around 1. It was a gray and dreary day on Thanksgiving weekend, so I get it being slow, but the restaurant was literally empty except for us and the servers. We joked it was because we'd rented the whole building to treat each other. The vibe is...fine inside. It definitely looks and feels more like a brewery than a restaurant, with large equipment and a sort of dimly lit atmosphere and a few large TVs by the nice bar. They have a small patio on the square which is REALLY lovely and definitely would've been my preference if the weather was nicer. Our server was okay. He was soft-spoken and not unpleasant, but did sort of have a knack for appearing at inopportune times during the conversation. I get that it's not always possible to avoid, but a little more discretion would've gone a long way, especially since we were the only ones in there. Our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. My biggest frustration was definitely the menu and item availability. I pre-read it and came knowing what I wanted (bananas foster French toast) only to discover that they were running a limited Thanksgiving weekend brunch menu and therefore it wasn't being offered that day. The first thing my friend ordered also wasn't available. I had my heart set on brunch so I asked for the breakfast burrito instead. Our waiter had to go check and make sure the kitchen could do it. Turns out they could - yay. But then I asked for potatoes to go with it -- and there were no breakfast potatoes available. I went with fries instead. When my burrito arrived at the table, there was no salsa or sour cream, which was supposed to come with it. Any component part of this experience is not a HUGE deal, but it all added up to be rather disappointing. My friend got the bulgogi tacos, which came in an order of two sort of small tacos. She liked them and said they were really good. She also got first a French mimosa and then a classic mimosa; I also had a classic mimosa. Both were generic but enjoyable. My breakfast burrito was decent, but I really missed the salsa and sour cream. The bacon inside was cut into tiny crunchy pieces, which I liked. The eggs were cooked very well but needed more salt and pepper. I enjoyed the bright burst of peppers and some were even a tiny bit spicy. It was a large serving but I wish it came with some side item instead of me having to order one. The side of fries was generous and they were really good -- super crispy but still fluffy inside. I thought the bill was a little high for 1 mimosa, a breakfast burrito, and fries -- almost $40. The burrito alone was $18, which seems like sooooo much for a brunch entree with no sides. Idk. Maybe I don't do mid-scale dining enough. Overall, I thought the quality of the food was solid enough that I'd consider returning, but I'd call ahead to see if they had what I wanted to avoid frustration.

I had never been to this place until I had a group meeting there. Staff was very accommodating,…read moreseating us upstairs immediately and making sure we had plenty of tables, chairs, plates, etc. I will note that the upstairs is HOT so they had industrial sized fans (eek!), but I think that's just do to the building. The pizzas weren't amaaaazing, but they were good. I tried the pepperoni and bulgogi and both were decently executed and ample in size. They have outdoor seating if that's your thing, service is good, and they really try hard. I'd go back.

Food is outstanding. There's actually options for vegetarian diets including pescatarian. So, the Romeo Roll is full of fresh gulf shrimp seasoned well with lettuce , this homemade corn salsa that's just super fresh. Haven't had a bad one yet. Tracy, owner, makes me a Romeo Roll in a salad and it's amazing with goat cheese, shrimp, (I do not eat the Andouille sausage-vegetarian) but I tried a bite because I did forget to have them remove it the second time-it's good. They have no problem customizing your order or tailoring to your diet, this is a good spot in Huntsville. It's loud on certain days which I do not mind , gives good energy. I noticed that they also support the community-important. City folks-this is as close to a dive that I can find here. They have baked fish options and kids menus-prices are very reasonable especially in this economy.

We were headed back from AR from a graduation and while staying in Tupelo found this restaurant close to our hotel. Not from being around the area weren't real sure about it but only because we were not seeing a lot of food items we liked. However because it was close by our hotel and the star rating was high, we decided to try it out. Oh my gosh; I am so glad we did. Even months ago enjoying our food to now, I can still remember how amazingly tasty our food was. My hubby and I shared the Dirty Grains with greens and things. We both have never had greens in our lives, but our server told us they were very scrumptious at the Blue Canoe. She was spot on!! They were delicious, really the entire meal was DELISH!! I am so glad we shared the dish because it was a lot and very filling. Now the restaurants famous sauce that is made fresh every day is worth its weight in gold. Our server has been there a very long time and she said she is the gal who makes it daily. I can't really explain the taste but it is very, very tasty. We were so full and it as going to pass on dessert. Of course our server told us about their dessert that is #1 on the menu...Connie's Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding (pictured). Once again super scrumptious and worth every calorie. If you are new to the area I highly recommend a trip to the Blue Canoe. It doesn't look like much outside and inside it can seem like a dive. It isn't because it's been around d a while and the ambiance is really cool!! The parking lot gets quite full and was just a bit challenging to maneuver our large 250 GMC truck but we managed. This place is a gem and well worth our visits when we are traveling through. I'd love to go when they have live music but not sure when we will be driving through.
