Basic food .. I was disappointed as I was expecting more from this place . It's had an old school nostalgic vibe, however I was expecting more from the food . The pancakes and waffles kind of bland , could use more vanilla in the batter . Ijs ..the eggs were cooked correctly and I did enjoy the bacon . We encountered a few friendly servers , while the rest of them had a bad attitude or were very short when we asked a question .. SMH .. I am over mediocre food with bad service.. On to NEXT !
I often get the craving for a southern breakfast and Stagecoach on Florin is the place I would usually go to! When you first walk in, it feels like you're taken back to simpler times and all you're there for is breakfast and a good time. If you're there at the right time, the restaurant gets some really good sunlight. The restaurant is always full, bustling with customers and staff, which is a great sign to see. After being seated, we are given menus and waters and some time to take a look. The servers check in after a few minutes and they are always so friendly! They are open to answering any questions that you may have and offer great recommendations. I placed an order for my usual chicken breast with a waffle and a side of 3 sunny side up eggs. The food comes out very fast, I waited probably less than 10 minutes for it. The waffle is huge and has some powdered sugar on it, which is a nice touch. The chicken isn't dry at all and is very crispy, and the eggs are cooked to perfection! I also really enjoy the gravy they give on the side and I like dipping my chicken into it. I eat a lot, but this meal has me struggling to finish it even though it's so good! Every time I visit, I am always happy with the atmosphere, food, and consistency that Stagecoach brings to its customers. For anyone who has not visited yet, I highly recommend checking them out and get there early to beat the crowd!
How could I forget about this Sacramento staple? Stagecoach is the spot for a down-home soul food breakfast at a price that doesn't make your wallet flinch. This is literally the only place in town where you can get fish and grits, pork chops, sausage patties, hash browns cooked up with bell peppers and onions, and buttery biscuits with gravy, all in one meal. Catch my drift? I've been to Stagecoach before, though only every now and then over the years. But when a friend suggested it again recently, I went back yesterday and realized this is exactly where I need to be when I'm craving a proper soul food fix. The service was quick and welcoming, and while the ambiance isn't anything to write home about, the food more than makes up for it. Honestly, it tastes like my grandmother was in the back, cooking just for us. My belly was happy and full, and so was my soul. If you're looking for a no-frills, flavor-packed Southern-style breakfast that feels like home, Stagecoach is it. Don't sleep on it.
Man this spot has been cooking up sone of the best breakfast in Sacramento since the 70s. I haven't been here in over 20 years but they haven't changed. The service was A-1, the food was on point, and because the weather was so nice we sat on the patio. But let's get to the Catfish breakfast i ordered today, it was everything I wanted and needed it to be. Seasoned to perfection, fried crispy, and it was fire. It came with potatoes, eggs, and toast but I substituted the toast for a biscuit with sausage gravy and it was the right choice. If your in the area I definitely recommend a visit. I'll be coming sooner than later.
it has been several years since my last review. in my continuing tour of local restaurants, it was time to revisit this spot. Ambience has not changed. Same great old school R&B music in the background. Same old booths. Same friendly staff. so how was the food? 1) catfish nuggets entree: fresh fish nuggets that had small pieces of bones - must be careful when consuming this entree, scrambled eggs were decent, nice side of grilled potatoes w/onions and peppers and 2 slices of basic white toast. 2) basic entree: crispy bacon and hot links, scrambled eggs but the grits had to be returned and heated up and it also arrived with 2 slices of basic white toast. So- our entrees were just ok and the prices are definitely higher than before - which all places have increased their cost. But serving catfish nuggets that contained multiple pieces of small fish bones was troublesome- a diner could've experienced a terrible situation if not careful. The cold grits were also a meh situation. 2 stars for the food and an extra star for the local ambience. so i would give the food
A Sacramento must try! Stagecoach has been around for years, and is a staple in the community. Once you visit, you'll want to come back time and time again. The portions are of great size and very worth the money. The menu is extensive and staff is super friendly and attentive.
Was craving a good home cooked southern meal! Came here with my family for breakfast and I'm so glad that we came here. There is a location in Elk Grove which is closer to my house however that location doesn't have the fish and grits so came here instead. Parking was a bit difficult but once parked it was a great experience from start to finish. I ordered the fish and grits and it was hot and flavorful. The service was also great and there was no issue with splitting the bill which was a plus.
Food was great! Husband and I shared the meat and cheese lovers omelet with house fried potato with bell peppers and onion with biscuits and sausage gravy on the side. The inside of the place will totally remind you of old diners that serves great homecooked meals. It gets crowded but there's always hardly no waiting time. Our server Nicole was great! She served us with 2 plates with our food already divided! I've only experienced this kind of service in North Carolina! Thx Nicole!
My boyfriend and I were in the mood for diner food in Sacramento, and Yelp recommended us this place. The parking lot is small and was completely full when we pulled up on the weekend. Luckily, there is a huge plaza across the street, so we parked and walked over. We opted for counter seats to avoid a wait time and were able to order immediately. Service from everyone was outstanding (5 stars). What we got: side of catfish nuggets (10/5) -- the remoulade is acidic and creamy, perfect for the well seasoned catfish. you get a lot for only 8.99. absolutely a must try shrimp n grits (3/5) -- my boyfriend said the grits had no flavor but the shrimp and eggs were good waffle breakfast (4/5) -- good bang for your buck. It came with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and a big, buttered, fluffy waffle. only thing is the waffle was on the dry side I would definitely return to try their flavored pancakes and more of that fried catfish!
My husband and I checked out Stagecoach for breakfast yesterday while doing some grocery shopping. Stagecoach is a staple in the community - it has been around since the 1970's and for good reason too! The inside was small, but very homey and welcoming. The employees were hustling around, but still made time to greet people. Our server was attentive and friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Mexican Burrito with Country Potatoes and the SOS Biscuits and Gravy. The potatoes were lacking much needed salt and the gravy was a little too sweet for my liking, but overall, we enjoyed our meal. I told my husband that I would like to come back and give them another shot - order some different items because there is a reason they have been around for so long! They offer many comfort items along with more interesting items like frog legs, catfish, trout and even oxtail. The pancakes and blueberry muffins looked amazing too! We'll be back again soon!
As "always" Tierra was amazing. The food was still a 10 out of 10 for the Chicken fried Pork chops . Country gravy was flavorful, not just salty.. Great job Stagecoach..
This place is pretty awesome! The staff are VERY friendly and attentive. Quick seating, quick to get coffee and water, and all doing this with a big smile on their faces. The decor is western/southern, hence the name, and everything is pretty well kept and clean from what I could tell. Now let's get to what you're waiting for, THE FOOD! Holy smokes do they serve you a giant plate of food! You will NOT leave hungry at all. I got the chicken fried steak and my mom got the "small" breakfast. I put quotes around small because it definitely was not that (see photos for reference). But we were not upset about that at all. The food was really good! Everything came out quick, hot, and homemade. My favorite thing I had was the biscuits. I'd just come for those and the country gravy. The only thing I'd have to nitpick is that I'd prefer a thicker piece of steak than receiving two thinner pieces of chicken fried steak. The batter on them was delicious, however for how thin the steaks are it can feel like you're only eating fried batter instead of eating chicken fried steak. Other than that, I have no complaints! This'll be my new breakfast spot to take family and friends!
My friends and I wanted to enjoy a good brunch together. It was recommended that we try the stagecoach. I really appreciated that they had an indoor and outdoor section to the restaurant. The Ambiance of the restaurant really gives you a 70s feel with wooden booths. Due to the amount of people in our group we chose to sit outside and they were easily able to accommodate us. I was able to have the turkey links breakfast which came with eggs and potatoes with the side of English muffin. I really enjoyed the coffee it was strong and not weak. The serving staff was very accommodating and was able to help everyone to get the meal that they wanted. Everyone's food came out hot and fresh. I definitely would return to try out some other menu items.

What an amazing breakfast! I got the oatmeal, fresh fruit with a biscuit and gravy. Amazing!!! We love this place. Very cozy and very clean! They have a wonderful senior menu. Everything is $13.95 and that includes a drink (coffee, soda, tea). The service is always perfect. I just realized that three of the employees are related. Christian is a manager and both her daughter Tiara and son Emanuel also work at the Stagecoach. Amazing family that gives the best service and are super nice folks. We stopped into Stagecoach for brunch while I was here in Sacramento, and I was with my uncle, his lady friend, and the daughter. And lemme tell you... we definitely did NOT leave hungry! I ordered the 1/3 lb Burger Steak & Egg Breakfast with my eggs over easy and sourdough toast. Now, anybody who knows me knows I am NOT normally a home-potatoes kinda girl. They usually just take up space on my plate. But THESE potatoes?? On. Point. Crispy on the outside, but cut into cubes big enough that you still got that good potatoey bite, with a soft, creamy inside. THAT is how you get me to eat home potatoes! And of course, I saw Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu, so naturally I had to try them. If I see fried green tomatoes somewhere, I'm ordering them. Period. These were done the traditional Southern way with cornmeal, and they were actually fried really well, but they just didn't quite hit that Southern flavor I'm always looking for. The tomatoes themselves were a little too soft for me, too. I like mine to still have a little firmness and tang left in them. The remoulade sauce, though? Pretty tasty! So while they weren't my favorite fried green tomatoes, they weren't a total miss either. The daughter got the Strawberry Waffle with scrambled eggs, and that waffle came out HUGE and absolutely PILED with strawberries and toppings. She couldn't even finish it! Her scrambled eggs looked beautiful too -- soft, folded, still a little shiny, and definitely not cooked to death. My uncle ordered the Veggie Omelette, which he said was fantastic. It was packed with all kinds of bright, fresh California veggies and had this thick layer of yummy Monterey Jack cheese running through it. He also got grits, and they looked soooo creamy. He mentioned that Stagecoach has been doing a WAY better job with their grits lately and making sure they're cooked down to that creamy perfection they're supposed to have. Because gritty, undercooked grits are a CRIME. His lady friend went with the Small Breakfast Plate -- two eggs over easy, sausage patties, wheat toast, and those AMAZING home potatoes. She said it was exactly enough for her without feeling too heavy. And then there was me... I didn't even finish my whole plate, and I'm tellin' you right now... I NEEDED A NAP AFTERWARD. Stagecoach is definitely one of those old-school breakfast/brunch spots where you come hungry, get a REAL plate of food, and leave full and happy. The portions are generous, the eggs were cooked beautifully across the table, those home potatoes completely converted me for the day, and everybody found something they enjoyed. If you're over on Florin Rd and want a good, filling, no-fuss breakfast or brunch, Stagecoach is absolutely worth stopping in. Just don't schedule anything too strenuous afterward. Very small spot but great big flavor! This place is very good our breakfast was very delicious great seasoning incredible biscuits and unique soul food flare taking you back long ago enjoying community delicacies. The fried grits took me to the shoes of South Carolina where you would see hard working fisherman with a hardy lunch of fried grits and fish. This place knew exactly how much to do it right, the molasses was rich and hearty. The gravy to those biscuits was a 10/10 the service was great very nice people and very good food. Everything was timely hot and good. The chicken batter which was used on the steak as well was so flavorful the starwberry lemonade was very tasty overall this place is a great spot for good service and food read more

This is my first time here and it's the bomb! The restaurant has been here greater than 40 years and has a lot of 70's decor with wooden benches and wood paneling and light brick on the walls with 70's funky music playing. The server was very courteous and pointed out the blue plate specials. I was super happy with the chicken fried steak and gravy special. I was transported to the South with the savory gravy on the mashed potatoes and chicken fried steak. I will be back multiple times in the future to get my fix. read more

I haven't eaten here in years and years. I was in the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by. Parking is at a premium. It was 9:30 AM on a Wednesday, and I had to park all the way in the back of the building. I can imagine what it's like on the weekends. The place is clean, and everyone was friendly. I like the western theme inside. The main dining room is kind of small, but they also have a counter, a back dining room, and outdoor seating as well. Breakfast ranges from the usual pancakes and egg dishes, to some serious comfort and stick to your ribs food. I had the trout and eggs, with the fried grits and molasses, and a biscuit for my bread. The food came quick, and oh... My... God, that was a humongous plate of food! She asked me if I wanted tartar sauce, or remoulade with my trout, I asked for the remoulade , but she must've misunderstood me, because it never came. That was quite all right, though. . The trout was tender and delicious by itself. The eggs were not overdone, so they were perfect to dip the trout in. I had never even heard of fried grits, let alone tried them, and they were delicious. They were crispy/crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and not greasy at all. The molasses just added to the great flavor. There were three giant bricks of the fried grits, I ended up taking two of them home. They reheated fantastically in my air fryer. The biscuit was fluffy and delicious, the coffee was great and they kept my cup full. The trout was on the higher priced end of the menu, but it was worth every penny for the quality and quantity of the food. I would come back just for that, but I also want to try other things here too. Thanks for a great meal!! read more

When a place has as many stars as this place on yelp, it's a must try. We had no idea what we were walking in to. Plenty of inside seating and a patio that is also covered. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. We just wanted some breakfast. Man did they have some breakfast. Some soul breakfast straight from the Lord!! Every single person made us feel like family. They were on top of filling our coffees, and making sure we had everything we needed. The food is on another level! I think we all left with food that looked like we didn't even make a dent in our plates. Everything had so much flavor. We wanted to try it all. I highly suggest everyone get something different and sample it all. Next basketball tournament out there, that's where we're going!! read more

South Sac's greatest!! I treated my mom to brunch at Stagecoach for Mother's Day! My mom loves this place. I love the old Western feel of the restaurant. The staff were so kind and all smiles. Our server, Maddy, was nice and patient with answering our questions about the menu. It was breezy outside at the time when we went to eat, so, we decided to enjoy eating on the veranda. I ordered the partner #1 breakfast: country fried chicken, eggs, and butter grits, and my choice of side was a biscuit, I asked for gravy. My mom ordered country fried pork chops, rice with gravy, toasts, and french fries. We loved every bite of our meal! And had plenty for left overs to take home. I ordered their strawberry lemonade....which was soooooo good. Strawberry puree is included and tasted so fresh....I'm pretty sure it's made in house! Thanks Stagecoach for the great grub and friendly service! I look forward to return soon! :) read more
