Four of us stopped in on a Wednesday. We stopped in because of the good reviews and because half wanted breakfast and half didn't. I'm not sure where the good reviews are coming from because my experience was not good. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns. The eggs were GROSS! They were too cold and had absolutely ZERO seasoning. They were lukewarm at best so the cheese wasn't even melted. The hash browns were dry and flavorless and tasted like not fully cooked rice. I ended up sending the entire plate back and eating somewhere else. Another person had the sunrise with frozen Walmart chicken tenders, dry and flavorless hash browns and gravy. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Our waitress was good and we had no issues with her service. Sadly, that's where the positive experience ends. If you're a person who seasons your food I can't imagine you enjoying this food. read more

The food is consistently served hot and delicious and the menu has a plethora of different options appealing to many different tastes. The atmosphere is welcoming, as are the attentive staff. Beware though, this diner is no hidden gem. The restaurant is prone to crowding, especially on weekends, but the wait tends to not exceed thirty minutes. They give you pretty generous portions of food too! I got the garden omelette, which comes with your choice of hash browns or grits and toast or biscuit. The service is also very friendly and prompt! Just beware on the weekends it gets pretty busy so be prepared to have a bit of a wait. I have come here several times and have never had a bad experience here! Decided to try this location, since we always go to the one on Monroe. Had a little bit of a wait due to small crowd. I ordered farmers breakfast burrito with a few modifications. Food was made exactly the way I ordered it. Our waitress was attentive and courteous. My husband requested a changed dish due to his corn beef hash was over cooked. Technically this is a 4.5 stars but it's not an option... and the only reason for that is I give lunch a "4 star" rating.. but breakfast is ALWAYS a 5! You can't go wrong with Stacks for breakfast.. I've had their version of the lumberjack and I've had one of their skillets and both were awesome. My daughter asked "dad, how do they get their pancakes so fluffy?" To which I had no answer, but they are good.. very good. Lunch was a mild disappointment as I felt a Greek owned diner would have a better Gyro.. but sadly, Stacks comes in 3rd for "best Gyro" in Waxhaw... I won't mention the other two places in this review because that's just not cool. Don't get me wrong, the Gyro was good... but the tsatsiki was not as robust as others' and they were a tad skimpy on the Gyro meat on the sandwich. I was also disappointed with "Stack's original recipe" onion rings because quite honestly, I couldn't discern their rings from basic frozen onion rings. Overall, Stacks is very good... We typically visit the Stack's in Matthews (it's closer to us), but decided to venture out to the original in Waxhaw this past weekend. Glad we had our GPS because it was hidden in the corner of a strip plaza. The restaurant was very nice inside (maybe a little nicer than Matthews). It was nicely decorated, laid out, and clean. They offered the same great service and excellent food (at a very reasonable price) that we expect from Stack's. It was worth the drive. I ordered one of my "usuals": the Tuscany omelette. Filled with sausage, provolone cheese, red peppers, and spinach, it satisfies my breakfast craving. It came with a side of their perfectly cooked hashbrowns (or you can get grits or oatmeal), and toast, made from their out-of-this-world, thick-sliced homemade bread. Went to Stacks 3/20/24 for a late breakfast (around 10:30 a.m.) Ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, hash browns and toast. Toast and bacon were yummy. Eggs were lukewarm with cheese sprinkled on top instead of scrambled in with the eggs. Hashbrowns were also lukewarm. Obviously not freshly cooked. Waitress was ok. Spent more time looking at pictures on another waitress's phone than coming back to take our order and bring our check. For a relatively busy time there wasn't much of a wait on any part of the visit. I went with a western skillet and a short stack of pancakes. Skillet was really good, decent portion size and tasty. Kind of wish I grabbed a pic. I love a good western omelette so all mixed up with hash browns sounded (and was ) great. Pancakes hit the spot too. First time here. My wife, a friend and I ate here for a late breakfast last Sunday. We were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes. It was almost an hour before we were seated. After sitting at our table for 10 minutes we were asked to move too accommodated a large group that would better fit the table we were presently at. Drinks were comp'd. It took almost 20 minutes before our food came out. The food was delicious. The server was courteous and professional. The owner was polite.
