America is a unique and vibrant country. And sometimes, to experience its true atmosphere, warmth, and diversity, you don't have to look for anything extraordinary. Sometimes, all you need to do is walk into a nearby Diner. A Diner is a place where you can truly immerse yourself in wonderful American traditions, experience genuine respect for others, and get a feeling for what a particular neighborhood is all about. It's not simply a place to have breakfast. It's a small but important part of the community -- a place where, over a cup of coffee and a good meal, you can feel the local atmosphere, see the people, hear their conversations, and, for a little while, become part of everyday American life. Today, our family breakfast turned into a wonderful collection of bright emotions and pleasant discoveries. Completely by chance, we discovered a beautiful new place in North Carolina -- Big View Diner. And the experience begins even before you walk through the door. You immediately notice how clean and well-kept everything is. Once inside, you are welcomed by beautiful design, a warm and cozy atmosphere, and, most importantly, genuine human kindness. Today, our wonderful experience was made even better by Maria, the lovely and friendly young woman who took care of us. Her beautiful Spanish smile, natural Latin warmth and hospitality, combined with attentive yet professional and never intrusive service, made us feel welcome from the very first minute. And then comes the most important part -- the food! The wonderful kitchen team, using fresh ingredients from local markets and farmers' markets, turns an ordinary breakfast into a little work of culinary art. And it is in places like this that you realize something very simple: American culture is not only about skyscrapers, highways, and big cities. It is also about small neighborhood Diners where the tradition of meeting, talking, sharing a smile, and simply enjoying time together is still alive. Today we experienced exactly that -- warmth, hospitality, wonderful service, delicious food, and the feeling that we had discovered another little corner of the real America. A big thank-you to Maria and the entire Big View Diner team for giving our family such a wonderful morning! Sometimes, you don't need to search for something grand to feel the soul of America. All you need to do is walk into a good Diner. read more

Kristen was our server and she was amazing. I served for 11 years, and the best service is always "giving guests what they need before they even ask." Kristen did exactly that. She kept our drinks filled, brought sauces without us having to request them and stayed one step ahead the whole time. A great server can make or break your experience no matter how good or bad the food is and she absolutely made ours. 10/10 service. The food was great too. I got the Caesar chicken salad wrap and it came with a generous amount of fries. The only miss: don't get the $1 cookies. They were stale and tasted like plastic wrap. read more

I ordered a BLT and the service was very slow. I was the only one in my family to wake up in the middle of the night with GI distress and very sick. The lettuce on the sandwich was the only thing that wasn't cooked and the sandwich was the only thing that I ate that day that no one else in the family ate. No one else sick. Related? read more

This place at one time was good. Each time I go it gets worse. Today I got 2 eggs, sausage, muffin, and grits. Grits were not warm. The person I ate with had steamed Broccoli. It was undercooked and crunchy. Does anyone check in the kitchen what they are sending out to their customer's? read more

Had breakfast here today. Avery was our server and she was fantastic! Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had ( the California!)! Hubby had the Southern breakfast and loved every bit! We were happy to know they make the potatoes to order and could get them without onions and peppers!!! Highly recommend!!! read more

Back again. We are very pleased at how well this diner has improved over the past couple of years. Although not regulars here, we do drop in when we are hungry and just can't decide where to go, especially if we do not want the "dining" experience. Today we wanted a good, Greek Gyro ($16 each). Very excellent, only to be bested by The Greek Grill in the Red Rock shopping center in Indian Land. Service was great, lots of refills on drinks and Maria took good care of us, without any fuss. Very confy lunch and a menu that offers just about anything in the area of American food. Super clean and parking right out front. read more

This is the nicest looking diner inside and out I've been in (and I'm from NY). The service was fast and very friendly. The 50s/60s music playing for all to enjoy. Our waiter Andrew even warned us our brownie sundaes were very large in case we wanted to share (He was great BTW. The food was delicious and it was appropriately priced. I highly recommend! read more

We used to go here regularly however the NY/NJ attitude/flavor just became more and more of a headache. Including coffee with breakfast M-Friday reeks of east coast/north. They will absolutely not give you iced tea (prob just as cheap or cheaper to make) and insist ONLY coffee. Because of this, we have chosen to give our business to Stack's Kitchen not to far away either in Matthews or Waxhaw. Their breakfast food has always been excellent. The one time we went for dinner, one entree that 2 of our party of 6 had ordered was extremely salty. We let the others have a taste and everyone agreed it was extreme and overpowered the flavor of the meal. When we complained, there was no solution. I have heard since then there are new owners. We shall see tomorrow. If there is a huge change, I will edit this review. read more

I am a regular customer and have been since I moved to Indian Land seven years ago. I go there for breakfast or lunch. I have found the food to be delicious and the wait staff fantastic. They know me by name and are always both friendly and accommodating. The omelets are great; the pancakes and waffles, especially the waffles and hot chicken, are excellent, and the chocolate brownies are so addictive they should be illegal. As for the ambiance, it is a diner. It has been that design since it was built. Think of diners in Brooklyn. read more

Terrible service, waitress Missy rude, and arrogant when I tried to explain my concerns, coffee not hot,I placed the order and it didn't come as I asked, I Explained this to Manager Elizabeth and told her I would only pay for the coffee since the order wasn't right. Manager Elizabeth not much better. No concerns for customer. Management changed a couple years back, and the Big view is not the same. Management and customer service is lacking. read more

Time for an updated review after almost a year. My buddy Randy is recovering from foot surgery and has not been out of the house for weeks and wanted to get some lunch. He kept saying 'diner' so i suggested this place. We went for lunch but he ended up eating breakfast. I had the patty melt on rye and the house salad with vinaigrette dressing. We had outstanding service from Kristina. The patty melt was good but I think they are better on sourdough.. I was little disappointed that none of the salad options included iceberg lettuce. As we entered Randy made a comment about the 'slick' floor. Then as we were leaving a couple were making the same comments. read more

Consistent good food, although the craziest largest menu ever!, service is always good, portions are huge.

4/26/25 Enjoyed a great breakfast with a buddy before our round of golf. Not my first visit here, I've been several times and each visit has been great. This morning I went with an omelette. Ham & cheese as my typical go-to. Omelette was pretty big (I didn't finish it) and stuffed full with my toppings. Service was great and the place is always clean. Staff is super friendly too! read more

My chicken parm came out watery the noodles were over cooked like mush the sauce was so watery I thought it had ketchup on it. Flavorless sauce Luke warm. Had it remade came out worse. The other food my family got was average nothing special wouldn't do dinner again. My waiter was awesome tho only good part to this night out! I only treat myself maybe once every other month so the treat out was a bomb. The air conditioning was dripping on me so our waiter moved us promptly! He felt so bad about the food. Keep the waiters replace the horrible cooks. If I wanted chef boy rd I would have got a can but would have been better I think. The place was clean tho a plus . read more

Great menu with lots of variety, with fast and friendly service. I didn't love my stroganoff and had high hopes for it, which is the only reason I docked it a star but my wife and kids loved their meals and my tastes of their food confirmed they were in fact great. I would go back next time we're nearby. read more

Terrible. My wife ordered the Ruben. It was grisley and not edible. Swapped it for a salad. I ordered a fish sandwich but got a fish entree. They took it back and made a sandwich out of it. You had me at breakfast burrito! We've been meaning to try this spot and we're glad we did! They weren't crowded at all early on a Sunday morning so we were seated immediately. The coffee was served hot and the breakfast burrito was tasty. I liked how fries were an option instead of the breakfast potatoes. My husband enjoyed his traditional breakfast plate. It definitely feels like a diner but the space is huge! They need to make some updates because the leather in the booth was all cracked and was really rough to sit on. We enjoyed our breakfast but nothing really blew us away. I would like to go back and try their lunch or dinner menu. read more

Absolutely horrible place to go. Stopped in on a Monday night at 7pm. First we had to wait for the host to come to the podium, then when he finally recognized we were there he came over and told us he had to ask the server if he could seat us. When he came back he told us they weren't seating anymore customers tonight. Refusing customers an hour before closing is unacceptable especially when there were tables open and servers available. read more

Just had the worst breakfast in my 73 years of life. Ordered biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were as hard as bricks and very little gravy, and what little there was, cold with a film over it. I came in here recently with some friends before a round of mini golf nearby. I was charmed by the place at first. I enjoy a good tacky diner and was impressed by the desert display when you walk in. The place is quite large and it had a decent crowd so I had high hopes. The experience left me somewhat baffled mostly because I encountered something that I haven't really seen before, and that multiple items that were prepared and served not how they described on their menu. To start at the table I ordered us some disco fries. On the menu they are described as cheese fries with bacon and chives and served with buttermilk ranch. When they were brought to the table there were no chives and instead of ranch we were served with a side of brown gravy. We all were kinda confused and the server offered no explanation. We were hungry so we just shrugged and ate them anyways. For my meal I ordered the chicken parm sandwich. It is described as being a fried chicken cutlet with marinara, and basil pesto along with cheese. When it was brought to me there was no pesto at all, and maybe a slight smear of marina sauce, so little that unless you lifted up the bun you would think there was none at all. We were eager to eat and be on our way so we could go play mini golf so I didn't feel like complaining or sending my food back, but it was a strange experience and makes me wonder if they had new cooks back there who aren't familiar with their menu. On top of that the fries were over cooked so the cheese wasn't gooey or melty it was just caked into the fries, and the sandwich was dry, essentially just a fried chicken sandwich I wouldn't call it a chicken parm at all. I really wanted to like this place but it just fell flat for me. read more

Our waitress was wonderful--very attentive and kind. Unfortunately, the food fell short. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked, unseasoned, and drizzled with vegetable oil. The lemon pepper salmon lacked any noticeable lemon pepper flavor and was slightly overcooked. The sweet potatoes were heavily coated in what tasted like pancake syrup. read more

It's been a while since we have been at this restaurant. Food was ok. Nothing to go back for. There was only us and another table and the service was less than par. Horrible service, food was way overpriced. Didn't get drinks until after the food was delivered.

We tried this restaurant twice while staying at an extended stay near the restaurant after we had a house fire. Order both times was wrong! Wrong food, short of items order! We came in at 7:10pm on a Sunday evening. We were greeted at the door by an unfriendly person who looked at his watch, and informed us that the kitchen closes at 7:30 (even though the posted close time was 8pm). The server approached us, looked at her watch, and informed us that, again, the kitchen was closing shortly. By the time we ordered, we were the only customers in the diner. How sad for an establishment that, previously, used to be so busy. Our food was mediocre at best. We will not be back. read more

I used to eat here when I first moved to charlotte and it was the closest thing to a NYC diner. It lasted for awhile and it was good. It was recently sold off to new owners who have destroyed the menu and the food. I went once when it first swapped and it was terrible. Went again a few nights ago. I had a soup and a chicken pot pie and my dad had a soup and a grilled cheese. They bring out two pieces of toast and cheese in the middle that is not melted at all. My chicken pot pie is cold. So we send both back. Out comes both again, this time my crust from my chicken pot pie is no longer there and I ask why? The server says "it melter when we heated it up" I just looked at him and finally said "are you joking, I want a new one" and im not sure what I got because it came out too fast and it was semi raw too. Best part, my dad's grilled cheese comes back out and it looks like it was killed 5 times. I ask the server "would you eat this" and he said no and I said why did you bring it out? He brings another and it's ok. Lastly? Why buy a restaurant and destroy it? I hope the old owners see this and buy it back. read more

Was excited to try this restaurant because I just love a good diner. The fries and ranch were very good. I got a smash burger and my husband got a chicken club (they were out of turkey). Food was alright, I wouldn't say my burger was a "smash burger" but it was fine. It is a large restaurant and was pretty full on a Monday afternoon. It seemed to be a clean environment but did have a weird, contradicting interior design. My biggest complaint was the service was sooo slow. There were people there, but it wasn't packed and they had a good amount of people working. There really wasn't a clear explanation to why it was so slow because everyone around us was getting what they needed in a timely fashion. So overall the experience was okay. I do think it was incredibly overpriced. read more

Never a bad experience. The food is great and the service is always professional. Maria is our favorite waitress!

Ended up here for Breakfast and what a treat. Cute decor, gave me NYC diner vibes. Becca was our server and she was great. I had the Belgian Waffle with whip cream and fresh strawberries. Delicious and so fresh. A side of Bacon that was O so crispy. Hubs had the French Toast and Sausage it didn't stand a chance. All was inhaled quickly and deemed "Really Good". Then came the best part, Desert. Walking in there were so many things in the Bakery case I couldn't decide. I asked our server for suggestions and she couldn't decide either so I asked her to surprise me and she did and was a Happy- Fresh Coconut Cake that tasted like Grandma made back in the day. Thanks Becca! Looking forward to my next trip. read more

BEWARE: Ballantyne, Charlotte A while back I went to Big View Diner for dinner with my guy. This was not my first HOWEVER it was my last. This underage looking teenager was our waitress. The entire time she was focused only on my guy smiling in his face, taking his order, and making sure he was good. She was working overtime for a tip. But I was the one taking care of the bill. joke was on her! I didn't say anything to her, but I did bring it up to my guy. He said she is young and I was reading too much into it. Well, the waitress returns and asked my guy if he wanted coffee. He said yes and walk away, never asked if I cared for some. WOW!!!!! Now I am pissed, she has no manners or respect. She returns with coffee in hand and proceeds to lean over my guy to place the coffee on his far left. I caught her mid-lean and grabbed the coffee out her hand spilling it, just a little. She ran off upset. Baby girl may have told her mommy because an older waitress maybe Manager came over to the table to ask if we are good. I said yes and we are ready for the check. I did not make a formal complaint like I wanted to but was asked not to make a big deal because we both are not returning. This happened almost 2 years ago but I happened to do a search and this diner came up. Why not do a review and let everyone know what type of "Workers" are at that establishment... Ladies beware! Btw: the food was mediocre and let me not start on the wait time or all the customers who were complaining when we arrived. read more

What a little gem... My family and I visited this place last weekend on Mothers Day. I know what you're thinking....ridiculous!!!!! Especially with no reservations! Lol In my defense, we just moved here May 1st and the wife really wanted flapjacks.... Relax, I know they're called pancakes but flapjacks make it sound like a party... Anyhow, we get here with no reservation on Mother's Day, the host, an adorable sweet red head, said 30-40 mins so we of course naturally go wander off to the Harris teeter parking lot where my 2 year old, 1 year old, Mommy and me ate donuts and made funny faces at each other. 30 mins flew by. And said hostess called me. We were promptly seated and ordered our food. My wife and I were trying to paint a picture of how ridiculous we looked with crazy kids laughing and playing with sunglasses as we ate our food. And then it happened.... The nicest bearded gentleman came by to say hello. Like a kind young version of Ulysses S Grant, he was humble and kind yet clearly the leader of the flapjack brigade. He was so kind. Said hello to my kids, brought them fruit, juice and even cookies! My kids were so thrilled and my wife was so happy. It was the perfect Mothers Day Brunch. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming and the people so kind. We will definitely be regulars and be back! Thank you to Benjamin the manager, the sweet hostess and our server for making this a great Mother's Day! read more

I was a little worried when I pulled in and the parking lot was empty. The decor in the dining room reminded me of a high-end Italian restaurant that has abandoned the property. The menu was offering everything from a meat and two for under $15 to high-end steak. I chose shrimp and grits. Tomatoes, peppers, corn sausage shrimp and grits. What I did not expect was a plate that looked like jumbali. Unorthodox appearance but the flavor was fantastic. Going in for the carrot cake now portions are giant. The server was a highly trained professional. He knew how to Take care of people. He gets 5 stars just by himself. read more

Family and I came for breakfast on a Sunday around 9am. It was busy but not crowded. We were able to get seated quickly. The kids had pancakes and bacon - a large thick fluffy pancake and couple pieces of crispy bacon. Maple syrup was warm, which was a nice touch. I enjoyed my crispy corned beef hash and eggs. I love how they crisped up the outside of the hash while it stayed soft on the inside. Nice thick toast is included. Would love to return to try out other things on the menu. Noise level was pretty average for the breakfast crowd. We could comfortably talk without having to yell and we didn't have to compete with loud music. Service was outstanding. I mean, really outstanding. Our server was helpful, personable and very professional. She checked on us but wasn't intrusive. She got all our orders correct. In fact, every employee we encountered was great. Love this place and would love to return again. read more
