We wanted to love this place - first for the location (what a great people watching spot and with plenty of parking)! Next, we wanted to love the actual goods of offer - beautiful presentation and a huge variety of do-it-yourself pick and choose tray style self service! Lastly we wanted to love the checkout service - it seemed ready to get people moving along! Most of these things held the weight we wanted and anticipated, short of the location and parking. The goods - we sampled a Yuzu tart (tasted like soap?!) and mango croissant (a bit of soapiness in this one too, oddly) a chocolate explosion croissant (best of what we tried and chocolate was evenly distributed) and one each of the pretzel shaped pastries (ok but nothing exciting and tasted bland). Again- skilled presentation and mastery of baked goods form...these all looked great and tasted...just ok. There were three staff members at the counter and two seemingly were distracted while one gent running the register was taking care of the 5-6 people deep line. Only as the line approached the cafe area and door did the other two staff start taking customers at the other register. Im not sure if the customer service standard in charlotte is meh. The employees aren't friendly at all, they dont greet you, they dont smile, and they take forever to get your drink ready. The mango smoothie was absolutely disgusting. It had a weird after taste and had a very weird chemically taste to it. I was definitely not a fan and would not recommend getting a smoothie from here. I threw it away after a couple sips. So gross. Probably the worst smoothie I have ever had. There are lots of cute baked items here so maybe people should just go here for that. Wanted to try the honey dew bread but they were out. My friend got the pumpkin spice matcha and said it was okay but had a weird taste to it. Whatever they use to clean their machines is not good. Uh oh - I sense a theme starting. We love the baked goods ... and have been semi-regular, but the "kids" that work there are downright rude. (And slow). The question of what milks they have is met by a rude pointing to the post-it on the register. (So sorry to ask - I'll be sure to read all notes before approaching going forward). Waited for a drink to be met with a passive aggressive "can I help you" - when we asked if our drink was on counter (we'd waited 10+ minutes and had eaten our food before drink was ready). And she said, "I'll let you know when it's ready" (ewwww). They genuinely act like you're hindering their down-time. (So sorry). The one at this location is even more amazing!!! A bit sweet and savory. I also got the pretzel that had some sort of custard inside and it was pretty good too. Coupled that with a matcha and I had a pretty great Sunday. I wish the flavor of the matcha was bolder though. My husband had the Ube and we both thought it was better than the matcha. Ambiance is cute and roomy. The staff is pretty nice but are sort of busy because this location gets swamped. There is a free parking deck connected to the building. Experience: I've been here about a dozen times, and I've perfected my order. The milk cream bread with an iced Earl Grey honey lemon tea is the best combo. Anytime I change the order, I've craved it, but I'll settle for another tea if they're out like the Ube or Matcha. I came to Tous Les Jours to order a birthday cake for a child and left shocked by the unfair and discriminatory treatment I received. The employee was dismissive, openly biased, and 100% arrogant. I was ignored and treated with a complete lack of respect, courtesy, and basic human decency. When I asked to speak with a manager, this employee stated they were working UNSUPERVISED with no manager on duty -- just two employees who looked like high schoolers (or acted as such) and clearly lacked training in customer service. I have worked in the food industry myself, and I would have been fired on the spot for treating a customer with such insolence. What made it worse was that this employee showed impertinence to the highest degree in front of children. This wasn't a trivial request for myself -- it was for a child's birthday cake. Yet no consideration or empathy was shown at all. I will not be returning unless this employee receives the training they clearly lack. Some type of disrespect must be happening inside management for them to allow this kind of behavior from such a classless person. If these actions are allowed to continue, this store cannot progress with employees like this. I hope this issue is resolved. If questioned for this review I highly suggest looking at your security footage to see how your employee literally turned their back on me in the middle of a conversation. I've always had great experiences at this Tous les Jours location, which is why tonight's experience was so disappointing. We arrived at 7:30 p.m., fully aware the coffee shop closes at 8:00 p.m., and were only ordering three coffees. Despite there still being 30 minutes before closing, the barista, Darian, refused to serve us. The cashier (the guy with glasses) was professional, kind, and apologized for his coworker's behavior, which we truly appreciated. Refusing service to paying customers during posted business hours is not the level of customer service I would expect from this location. I hope management addresses this, as one employee's actions can negatively impact an otherwise excellent business. read more

Happened to visit the Ballantyne location late afternoon on a Saturday but was unable to try any of my planned out baked goods so decided to try a noon visit with the SouthPark location and so glad I did. They had an abundance of stocked goodies and it's a bigger storefront with decent upstairs, small outside, stacked stair(see IG), indoor cafe/lounge seating. Reminds me a bit of a cozy bookstore cafe vibe. Now to the bonus gems... Picked out Strawberry Croissant- fluffy creamed filled fresh strawberry goodness, Chocolate Croissant- OMG most delicious chocolate baked good w, slivered almonds, Garlic Sausage Block- Savory upscale way better Auntie Annie pretzel dog, and two additional we took home to try later... a Milk Cream Cornet Pie and Blueberry Cream Cheese Bread. I thought these were the same as the Green Tea loaves that are sold in a pair of 2's, but nope. These are just plain loaves, with no cream. A bit disappointing because I couldn't really trace the taste of Green Tea...but as with all of TLJ breads, these were Oh-So-Soft, light and fairly healthy (considering!). Anyway, these tasted really good with whipped cream. What I love about many (if not all?) of their pastries are that the calories are listed. Very disappointing experience overall. When we first came in, there was no greeting and the employee was unwelcoming. The drink tasted extremely off, almost rotten and I've had this drink here before, so I know this wasn't normal. When we returned to request a refund, the doors had been locked early (7:42 PM even though closing time is 8:00 PM). Although we eventually did receive a refund, the employee was on her phone the entire time with AirPods in. What made it worse was that instead of addressing me (the person who requested the refund) she looked at my sister and asked if she spoke Spanish, then continued the conversation with her. The girls at the counter are not very attentive nor welcoming. I've had several instances where they were not listening to a cake or coffee order I had. They seem to be preoccupied with talking to each other rather than taking care of the customer. And this last instance, I waited about 15-20 minutes for a latte (and no one else was in line). Someone finally came up to ask me what I was waiting on and I told them my coffee order. Then they followed by asking me what it was (with an attitude). This place is so adorable and I recently found out Pittsburgh is getting its own location! This was my first time visiting a Tous Les Jours -- you grab a tray and serve yourself from the pastry cases and cake displays and then go to the register to pay and have everything boxed up. The cloud bread is supposed to be phenomenal and I'm determined to try it next time. Most items are French bakery items with a Korean take on them.
