What a great space! We sat outside, even though it was December, and their patio is covered and even had a heater running, which was perfect. The food is incredible and very inventive. The service was a little slow, but the staff was all very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience.

Emmet's Social Table is one of my favorite places to dine in Waxhaw, NC. It's located in a turn of the 19th century former Cotton Mill. And it's not a typical type of restaurant, it's American Style Tapas. The concept is one designed around guests sharing multiple rounds of food, allowing for different flavor experiences in just one dining experience. And there's so many amazing flavor experiences. In fact I'm craving their South Main Deggs as I type this. I've never really been into deviled eggs. I could take them or leave them, but these are insanely good. They're fresh deviled eggs with pork belly and pepper jelly drizzle and I seriously crave them anytime I'm in the area. There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy a throwback craft cocktail, local draft, or a glass of wine. Whether in their spacious bar area, dining room, or out on the large front patio featuring a 10-seat fire pit, plenty of smaller tables, and our "Social Table" that seats 16 guests from one or multiple parties. We fit our large family in the outside space and enjoyed so much good food. Service was great even with so many people. Our waitress was kind and efficient. There's the Korean Glazed wings that are slow roasted and grilled. They have a great kick and are super tasty. I loved the Kale Yeah! Salad. It was kale, goat cheese, candied pecans, and dried cranberries with honey citrus vinaigrette. This was so light and tasty. The Poke Stuffed Avocado was an avocado filled with sesame, soy, and garlic marinated ahi tuna. This was super fresh. We also enjoyed the chicken and waffles with maple siracha syrup! The chicken was juicy and the waffles were tasty. I loved the kick of the syrup. The fried green tomatoes were a pleasant surprise as my grandma used to make us fried green tomatoes when I was little. These came complete pimento cheese and sauce. My grandma would have loved these. There are several flatbreads too choose from. We went with the Figgy Flatbread complete with fig, prosciutto, arugula, and herb goat cheese. The combination of flavors was excellent. Even the shoestring Mills fries were amazing. They came out with curry ketchup, homemade ranch, and cheese dip. We ate so much food and everything was so good. I love that we were able to get a bit of everything that came out. We took some of it home and it's even delicious the next day. They also do desserts, but I didn't have any room left to try any of them. If you're ever in the Waxhaw, NC area (they also have a location in Fort Mills, SC) you should definitely stop in and enjoy a plate or two or three.

As usual the Food and Service were awesome. We ordered our daughter's food, when we ordered our drinks, so she wouldn't have to wait too long. When we finished our waiter asked if we wanted any dessert? Our daughter had seen the Skillet S'Mores so we decided to get it. This was her first dinner out since recovering from the Flu. A few minutes after ordering it our waiter came back with quite an explanation as to why it was going to take at least 15 minutes. He said that it was heated in the same oven as the Flat Breads. Normally orders as made as they print in the kitchen. It shouldn't make a difference whether it's an Appetizer, Entree or Dessert, they should be made in the order they print in the kitchen. Quite a disappointment tonight as we weren't going to wait. Instead our daughter had Salted Caramel Ice Cream. We love Waxhaw Creamery but it wasn't quite the same as an In House made dessert

Invited to dinner tonight by my Soul Family, to Emmets Social Table in Waxhaw. Oh my goodness that area has grown so much over the past decade+ it reminded me of what Union County was like when I first arrived 20 years ago. A clean, quaint downtown area on South Main Street (and a parallel street with a Jekyl and Hyde and other shoppes) with so many small cozy places to visit/eat etc. I cannot wait to go back and try "Holy Cannoli" .... "Capriccis" .... "Foxs Pizza Den" ... "Mary O'Neills Irish Pub" to name only a few by the way! Something tells me this is a Foodies Paradise!! In any case, if you have an opportunity to get out that way, it's approximately 10 miles from Ballantyne and 12 miles from Indian Trail. I wish I had gotten pictures of all the dishes, but even more reason for me to go back - and I definitely will be back! The crabcakes were very good ---- figured I was on a roll lately so, why not "More Crab Cake" (queue up the cowbell reference )! this is the fourth crabcake entrée I've had in four weeks There were stuffed avocados, Korean wings, homemade kettle chips - that were absolutely fabulous with a beautiful, flavorful, buffalo chicken dip! Baby back ribs, a wedge salad with bacon, German Sliders, BLT Sliders. South Main Deggs - Deviled Eggs - were really good (I think the only time I've ever had fried deviled egg was at Webb custom kitchen, if I'm not mistaken?) with pork belly and pepper jelly drizzle. Look at the beautiful bed of minced tomato and greenery that they sat on! It was so pretty. The Brussels glazed with a Sriracha honey and and bacon were so good as well! Very flavorful and roasted beautifully. Perfect texture in my opinion. The kettle chips were tied with one of my favorites - the fried green tomatoes. Holy cow. They were the perfect thickness (thinner), crisp on the outside, beautiful on the inside, really really good! Homemade pimento cheese on the side, which was pretty good as well. A little thick for my taste, but then we make homemade pimento cheese so I promise it's just a personal preference comment. There was nothing wrong with the pimento cheese being thick. We finished with ice cream cones that everybody got to sample, four different flavors. I asked the server to pick. Each flavor was very good, creamy fresh not overly sweet really well done. So good and refreshing they didn't make it in house it was brought in from Waxhaw Creamery! I believe it's not far from Emmets. Their other desserts I believe one of them was peach cobbler? Was made in house. We left at approximately 8 o'clock I believe? And there was a small group of folks outside waiting for a table so they definitely fill up. I'd recommend reservations if you go later on a Saturday versus 5 PM - 5:30 PM. I know this is really long, but I promise Emmets is absolutely worth a visit and while you're at it? Take a walk and maybe try a holy cannoli or a cup of tea from the tea shop or go into the small art gallery!! I know I'm missing a bunch of really unique places, but that just means you're gonna have to go and see for yourself. Oh! Take a look at the prices on the menu. You absolutely cannot beat that! Seriously, good quality, food, small plates, wonderful service really cool environment in atmosphere and a nice outdoor space. Oh! I had no idea, but there's actually Mills that they turned into - I want to say maybe condos or apartments? Just a really quaint place - and you need more than one visit to experience everything. Love supporting Mom and Pop type shops and it seemed to me there were plenty of those to go around. Enjoy!!

We were greeted quickly by a friendly server who got us drinks right away. We weren't ready to order and he did not rush us. He asked us to move our table number to the front of the table so he would know we were ready. I liked that touch! We went very traditional for breakfast. I opted for the French toast combo with bacon and hash browns. My friend opted for the spinach and feta omelet. Both arrived quickly and were fresh and hot. My food was tasty, the bacon was crispy as ordered and the hash browns were nicely shredded and not too greasy. The only thing that was a bit off was my friend asked for her omelet to be well done and she had to send it back for a recook. There was no problem with that and it was back quickly and definitely cooked much more to her liking. Overall I liked the place for a no frills but well cooked meal. The server was pleasant and we never had to ask for refills. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a nice, affordable meal.

Nice redo of a basic box restaurant as we were promptly greeted, seated, and served. Ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and lunch-size portion of mussels, and a Beef on a Weck sandwich with collard greens. The wine, the service, the mussels, and the collards were all very good. The Weck, however, did not live up to it's billng. Having grown up on 'em and made a few mean ones myself, this sammie is a basic French Dip with a sprinkle of caraway seeds. A proper Weck (i.e. Kimmelweck) is an egg washed Kaiser roll topped with lots of toasted caraway seeds and coarse sea salt, the beef is thinly sliced, medium rare beef (not thick, grey deli beef), and the horseradish is smeared on the beef vs. served on the side. Really not that good. Sip & Cider have a great location, an interesting menu, and plenty of space to be great. Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter heading back soon for another visit. Support local. Not too crowded on this Sunday night with rainy weather, so were seated right away. Very nice and interesting menu. A lot of work went into developing it and they created many special names for sides. You will see. I had the blackened redfish entree ($25) and it was a very large portion of fish and the funny shrimp in rice side was pretty blah, though the fresh green beans were excellent. Won't order this entree again. Wife had a pecan crusted chicken salad ($15) that was a hamburger- sized patty of breaded chicken cut into strips, accompanied by a heap of lettuce mix. Pretty basic and wife tired of the "salad" quickly. Other couple had an appetizer of Fried Calamari ($16) along with a bowl of Tomato Bisque ($7). All of us loved the tomato bisque and recommend it. The calamari was over cooked/over fried with the smaller pieces hard enough to break a tooth and the larger pieces not much fun to eat. Kitchen needs to look at this, unless this is standard product. Wife had the Our Cuban sandwich ($13) which was exactly what a slushed Cuban should be, with smoked pork, ham, swiss cheese, topped with spicy mustard and pickles. All in a nice Telera roll, which was soft enough so that biting into the sandwich did not force the contents out the back of the sandwich on to the plate. She loved it. Yes we all split two desserts, an apple cobbler ($9) and a root beer float ($8). There is a nice beverage/libations menu and we ask you to pay attention to the prices. The wines have a small portion, a larger portion and bottle prices. I had a large glass of the Language of Yes Cuvée Sinsó, red blend at $22. Wife had a large glass of Ghostrunner Ungrafted Red Blend at $14 and the other wife had a large glass of Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon at $26. We felt the prices were very steep, but simply recommend that you look closely at the prices for each beverage you order so you will not be surprised at the cost. All said, Sip and Cinder is a good place to go. You will like the semi-casual atmosphere and clever menu. We will be returning.

Really has the makings of a 5-star restaurant, but there were some off-putting things that got in the way. Menu is excellent. Lots of choices, your place mat is your menu until you order. Our server stuck to his order of march: drinks, appetizers, mains desserts. It was mostly a non-alcohol dinner, so the drinks were an odd mix of soda water and colored drinks with flags. Can't tell you about wine list or other prices. Order taking took awhile and we got through it. My son and I each had the Steak Frites ($39.70). Nice portions. Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Wife liked the chicken and the accompanying spaghetti with capers was very good. She took home a portion good for lunch the next day. One Pappardelle Bolognese ($29.35) well enjoyed by granddaughter. One California Chicken Sandwich ($20.70). Daughter-in-law ate half of it. Not a big eater. I did not like the finished meal plates snapped up one at a time. We were talking and it took awhile. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Burton's has a lot going for it, so will be worth your time, effort and money.
