Last Wednesday I went to Stacks with my granddaughter. It Was about 9:45 am, only a third of restaurant was filled. I ordered coffee, hot chocolate , then our breakfast order. The waitress had to be prompted twice to bring my granddaughters hot chocolate. It came halfway through our breakfast. The hash browns were cold. Too much cheese on the cheese omelet. Our waitress pretty much ignored us. Warning on tipping in a lot of Bay Area eateries!!! Our waitress hovered over me, holding the handheld charging device halfway to her, halfway to me, so she could watch. I wanted to only leave a 10% tip, but felt guilt tripped to leave more, so I put in "15". This is when you choose Custom Tip. It will show that tip will be calculated as a Percent. I put in 15. I didn't realize it was calculating it as a dollar amount ($15.00) until looking at my receipt later. I left her a $15.00 tip on a $47.00 bill!! She probably saw this and said nothing. All my fault, everyone just look carefully on how the tip is being calculated on those handhelds. I caught the same thing later in the week at an ice cream store. read more

For many years, this has been one of my favorite places -- the food is good, the service is fast, and on Sundays it's perfect because we usually stop by after going to the farmers market. It used to be ideal to go with my family or friends, but unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience two Sundays ago, and I don't plan on going back. As usual, I went with my family, and the wait was short. We sat down, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered our food and were eating peacefully when my husband told me to discreetly look down at the floor. To my surprise, there was a huge cockroach. My husband had felt something crawling on his leg, and very calmly, he brushed it off, saw what it was, and stomped on it. I'm just thankful it didn't happen to me, because my reaction would have been completely different. By chance, at that exact moment, the manager was walking by. I asked her to come over and told her what happened. She turned around without saying a word, went to get a broom and dustpan, cleaned it up, and left. She never apologized or showed any sign of empathy -- it was as if nothing had happened. Like I mentioned, I've been a customer here for years. I've even gotten to know some of the staff, from bussers to a few past managers, and they were always kind and attentive. So I definitely would have expected more from the manager that day. read more

The service was good but the place was not the cleanest and the food was as expected, which is just okay. They were big portions though! We were seated right away and my seat was covered in crumbs lol which was a nice surprise I felt on my legs since I was wearing shorts. There was also a noticeable black thing on one of the spoons. Not the best, but also not the worst place. Their crab omelet was essentially good, love that a lot of their dishes come with a bagel. The chilaquiles were surprisingly good the sauce had good flavor, the only flaw was the totopos being soggy, chilaquiles gotta have some crunch in them. Also their mimosas were alright, I was really looking forward with their flight selection, but it wasn't all that. Bloody Mary was not good either, it was just spicy and bland. This is a Full Stack order of Banana, Macadamia, and Coconut Pancakes for Monday. I never had Pancakes like this. This is an awesome combination. These Pancakes are heavenly. The Batter was phenomenal, the contrast in texture was on point, it taste slightly exotic, it's fragrant, and it's sweet but not too sweet. Vicente, oh how you make this a fantastic first time breakfast experience for me and my friend. Stacks is a charming breakfast restaurant lying on the edges of downtown Campbell. Where there is a large parking lot and street parking nearby, the interior is defined with their purple walls and hanging lights that resemble a classy 1950s diner. Open for breakfast and lunch, they have a wide array of selections for breakfast, including omelettes, waffles, and many more. Our server for the morning was named Vicente. He was a sweet and cool guy. He came back to see if we wanted more strawberry lemonade. I ordered the pesto omelette which was so large in portion. I almost couldn't finish. The eggs were done just right and I love the potatoes they made. I think it would be better if there was no salt. The pesto on top of the omelette was a fantastic touch. My friend liked my dish too. Unfortunately, it can mean long waits, but they do move people through as quickly as possible without making anyone feel rushed. The Mexican omelette consists of beaten eggs folded over a filling of diced bell peppers, onions, avocado, and chorizo. The vegetables seemed slightly undercooked, and the eggs were slightly overcooked on the outside, leading to a dry edge. The wait after ordering was very long as well. I always go to the Campbell farmers market and see a wait for this place. Finally got to try it and I don't understand why people go here. There's no wow factor. Just your typical American diner. I ordered the chicken fried steak, banana macadamia and coconut pancakes and my bf got the Popeye omelette. There was no flavor to any of the meals. The potatoes I got were extra crispy to the point that they were burnt. Tasted like something I could make at home. The only thing I liked about this place is they offer bagels in substitute of toast but they charge $1.50 extra for cream cheese. The bagel was thiccccck and my fav thing about my entire meal. Basically undercooked potatoes, very gristly corned beef and the eggs over easy should have been over the top of this instead of on the side. One of the things I love about this place is they leave a little thermo of coffee and hot water if your drinking tea so you can get refills quickly.
