Great place with an extensive menu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes. We did the tasting menu which was 10 plates and it was more than enough food. We went when the weather was still nice and sat outside in the back patio which is definitely a hidden gem. Really great vibe and even better food. read more

I'll be honest. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! A friend and I visited SRV for the first time last Monday night, February 3rd, and our experience was stellar! Our service started with a warm greeting at the host stand. Our server, Yuri, was very attentive, polite, and informative. The staff seems to help each other out, and every single person who came to our table was knowledgeable and engaging. This chef and the entire kitchen staff are genius. We ordered the Arsenale menu. The meatballs were the best we've ever had. So much so that we ordered two more. Two of our favorite dishes were the ribeye and the Mafaldine. Even though we were beyond full, we could not pass up the tiramisu. The atmosphere lends itself to lingering and savoring, which, in the end, is the best part. We are very thankful to everyone who made our evening a memorable one. All in a cozy, beautifully decorated room in the South End of Boston. read more

Provides an interesting concept of sharing a variety of appetizers with a party of people which can make it very affordable. For what you are paying, the food is definitely worth it. However, it really depends what you order from the menu. Service is somewhat decent but could have some improvement. read more

Came here with a pretty large group of 12 for a Friday evening dinner, which worked out nicely since it's tough to find a venue in Boston that can handle such a group on a Friday. We were seated almost half an hour after our reservation though, which led to a fairly late and tiring dinner (we had driven there from NYC, so it was a long day). In terms of food, we had to take part in their set Tasting / Arsenale Menu due to our party size, but it was definitely a great choice and well worth it since we got to sample a good portion of the menu. Our dishes included: -Scallop crudo (Delicious!) -Potato crochette -Soft-boiled quail egg -Baccala Mantecato (salt cod on black bread - a bit too salty & fishy for my taste) -Boston Bibb & radicchio -Halibut -Ribeye steak (well-cooked and flavorful!) -Garganelli (delicious pasta) -Cappellacci (another hit pasta dish) -Semifreddo (mixed reviews - some thought it was a bit bland and too firm) They were even able to prepare separate portions for those who had dietary restrictions in our group - which was a plus so they never felt left out. The food was definitely on point, with a good variety of well-flavored and delicious dishes from Venice. Only one dish, in my opinion, was too salty, as noted above. The only damper was the timing of the service. The first several dishes (from their Cicchetti menu) came out almost one after another, to the point where our group got worried that all the dishes were this size and would leave us hungry. Then there was a rather large pause, and fatigue/fullness started to kick in. Eventually, once the mains/pastas came, it all made sense and it was plenty of food - even for big eaters. However, I think the pause kind of halted our "eating momentum" to the point where some of us just wanted to finish the dish so we could get some rest. The semifreddo (as mentioned above) was a hit/miss with our bunch as some thought it was too dense. Overall though, SRV is a very solid restaurant that serves great food in the Boston area. read more

Just ate here again! Twice in a month and the menu did change slightly. Do order the cicchetti-- you can't miss with polpette, potato crochette or quail eggs. We ate the vongole, broccoli rabe, beets with a smoked whitefish, and two pastas-- garaganelli and a mushroom risotto. If they add back the chicken with fig and olive or the striped bass in bordetto you won't be disappointed. The tomato sauces are so tasty that you want extra bread to wipe the plate/bowl clean. The flavors are nuanced and they add different textures with every dish. Many Italian restaurants over salt but not at SRV! Parking can be limited but it's worth a trip if you are looking for an amazing Venetian meal. read more

Great restaurant - hip, fun, great food. I had the tasting menu and it was excellent all the way through. Must have been 9 different smaller dishes all for $45 which seems like a great deal. The food was really great. The service was very attentive, people coming from all directions giving us dish after dish. It was a wonderful experience. read more

Delicious tapas and Italian Cuisine. Absolutely strongly recommend 100%. Look at the pictures, the food tastes even better than it looks. Wish I could give 6 stars! read more

Even better. Fave go to upscale local spot for the summer. Thank you SRV. Always delish food and phenom vibes.

SRV was highly recommend by local friends. We had an amazing dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu which was more food than I should have eaten. I couldn't stop because the combination flavors and textures were amazing. I plan on returning next time I'm in Boston. read more

One of the best restaurants in Boston. I enjoyed every second of my meal. The smoked swordfish and beet dish was shockingly a fantastic combination. Service, ambiance, and of course the food were all fantastic. Do yourself a favor and try this place. read more

Just had an outstanding work event here last week. We can't say enough good things about this place. Every single employee is friendly, passionate about what they serve, and excited for you try it! Everything from the extensive wine and cocktail selection to the pastas is outstanding! The staff really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was informed and enjoying their experience. My favorites pastas were the garanelli & the strozzapreti. The meatball appetizer is unlike any meatball you ever had - a must order. I was a little unfamiliar with some the ingredients in some dishes so some of what came out wasn't exactly what I was expecting - but just ask anyone before ordering and they'll tell you anything you want to know - I was just excited to dive in. The desserts are amazing too - best tiramisu I've ever had and their homemade ice creams are so unique. Decor is awesome, unique, and open. Can't wait for their patio to open up with the nicer weather. The managers were a pleasure to work with and our event was a huge success. read more

Alli and I (her mom) hung out in the "we don't have rez I" zone. Chris, a roving waiter, brought some good wine and apps. He was such a calm non pushy waiter and we just hung in there and then got a super bar seat! Thanks to Chris we stayed. Thanks for the great mother daughter evening! read more

I had such doubts about this restaurant since it took so long to open and my initial peek at the online menu left me wondering. However, my experience could not have been better. Considering we had a group of 10 people for dinner 5 days after it opened - the food was excellent, the atmosphere warm and inviting, the execution and timing from the kitchen perfect, the staff pretty knowledgeable. The decor in the place is absolutely beautiful and the back deck will be great in the summer. Most restaurants really have a tough time getting it all right in the first few weeks but these guys had it down like they'd been open a year. Our table did the chef's tasting menu, which for $45 each is the way go. No decisions to make on our part, they just keep bringing awesome food! And the food was great, a mix of things I never would have chosen to eat but that were delicious, and then more staple items. Additionally, there was an incident in the bar while we were there where someone had wandered in from the street and starting yelling beligerently at the hostess. The staff handled it calmly and diffused the situation to the applause of everyone in the bar area when it was over. Overall our experience was excellent. A great addition to this end of the South End! read more

The decor was gorgeous, the staff was incredibly helpful and attentive and almost all of the food was amazing. One small dish that wasn't our favorite, they took off of our bill, which was a thoughtful surprise. We took our kids with us (which maybe wasn't the best idea), but the staff was really sweet to them! read more

Cool vibe but slow/rude service, food isn't great, and overall energy is low. Living in the area, I was so looking forward to this restaurant opening but unfortunately wouldn't go back! :( read more

I'm really impressed with this place! The large party I dined with were all happy with the food, service, and price. The ambiance is lovely and the staff are attentive. I had three delicious courses and two drinks that came under $60! I'm going to come back so I can make my way through the menu. Side note - they have many delicious options for vegetarians. read more

One of the best dining experiences we have had in awhile! The restaurant has a great vibe and even outdoor seating, atmosphere is important to me and they nailed it. Next, I must comment on the service. Honestly the best service that I can remember. After ordering all of our dishes (around 8) I told the server I just need him to double check that none of the dishes have Un-pasteurized cheese since i'm pregnant. Each time food came out (even if it was a different server), they made sure to comment that the food was safe with pasteurized cheese. It was nice to see the extra attention to detail! Now for the food. The menu is separated into three sections: very small bites, starters and mains which are all pastas. The absolute standouts were the pastas. The garganelli was my fave! The sauce was a chorizo sauce with carrot and dollops of pesto. Sounds weird but delish! We also got the sausage and cauliflower pasta dish...also good. We will definitely be back. read more

What a terrific experience! The bartenders are awesome, the space is cool (exposed brick - check, hanging filament lightbulbs - check) and the food is top notch. We enjoyed the salumi misti (nice selection of meats and tasty olives), the mozarella in carozza (best fried mozzarella in town), polpette (both the meatballs and the sauce are insanely flavorful), the spaghetti a la busara (toothy pasta noodles with a vibrant spicy tomato sauce), and one more order of the polpette (did I mention how great they were??) Can't wait to return for more. read more

Our waiter, Dan, totally made up for the 30+ minute wait for our table. (We had a 8:00pm reservation and sat down at 8:40pm.) Hostess station needs more training. No need for three, only one was attentive. As soon as we sat down Dan was extremely welcoming and attentive. He explained the menu, super informative and professional. He went above and beyond by giving us a couple free appetizers. Food was very creative. Must have: Baccala on the Cichetti menu. read more

This place was great. I'd gone for a drink at the bar on a Wednesday night last summer with a girl I'd just met. We've now been dating for months and we wanted to celebrate by going back to try the food. Ambiance is fantastic, seemingly unique to the South End. Servers all seem familial, and there didn't seem to be any rush for us to leave despite how busy they were last Friday night. We took over 2 hours to eat, ordering each course as we came to it. Standouts were the octopus and the Bigoli pasta with duck ragu. We ordered a bottle of wine for under $50 and both enjoyed it greatly. A wonderful experience and we'll return soon, especially once the outdoor patio space is open. read more

Very well executed dishes from a seasonal, innovative menu! We've basically had most of their menu and have been wow'ed every time. + Atmosphere/ interior - very elegant yet cozy, lovely unique/ not overdone. Especially in love with the antiqued mirror and long bar. + Service - everyone clearly has studied the menu very well, both the foods and the drinks. Friendly but not overbearing. + Menu composition - a few items are long-standing and a few rotate out. Strong seasonal bent. Very unique, inspired and NON trendy: no oriecchette-with-sausage-and-rabe, bolognese-variation, or cacio-e-pepe here (2015's "hyper-italian" dish that all upscale US Italian restaurants seems to have put on their menu). I think the kitchen tries to stay true to its promise of regional cuisine. + Food - absolutely beautifully composed; well balanced flavors (herby, salty, sweet, sour...) and textures (99% of the time). Perfectly seasoned. The seasonally rotating items I won't comment on, since they'll get changed out. Likely to be excellent though. Among the mainstays on the menu: Stand-outs: Baccala (usually too fishy and salty when not done right. This version is creamy, oceany, perfect), beef carpaccio, pork; Magliati, all the risottos. Tiramisu is undoubtely the best in Boston (mascarpone really shines through, clear espresso flavor, not sickeningly sweet like the North End versions) as are all the gelatos A-ok: Spaghetti with Bursara shrimp (sauce was perfect, but pasta had become overcooked by the time it hit our table. Also a TB less sauce would have been nice); meatballs (too small to give you a real taste, not bad but not that great either); skate wing (a bit schizophrenic, too much going on that the skate itself gets lost. Also, the square crackers on top didn't add anything to the dish, not crumbled fine enough & there was already enough foil to the softness of the skate so it just was bothering & annoying) read more

have been back and it's certainly shaken off it minor teething issues to become a fully fledged destination restaurant in town. Although we're close by, friends who join us there do long for valet parking since the parking options are tough. read more

Belated anniversary celebration with friends last evening before concert. Such a creative and delicious menu. Hard to know where to start. We tried a sampling of many things--all very good-- but standouts for me were the zucchini blossoms (if only i could do this with all my garden blossoms!); a small item but if you like olives, they were delicious; calzoncini (almost like dessert before dinner!); and both the bianco (light and lemony) and mushroom (rich and earthy) risottos. read more

Absolutely Amazing! Arguably the best restaurant in Boston!

Had a wonderful dining experience at SRV. We really didn't know what to expect from SRV, but were very happily enchanted by the atmosphere, decor, staff and the food. Note that our visit was on a Monday for a pre-concert (3 blocks from Symphony Hall) dinner, so the restaurant was not packed, but was busy. The three of us shared 7 dishes, a glass of wine each and two desserts. We started with cicchetti's (small plates) of Marinated Olives - perfectly balanced, not too briny, flavor, Scallop al Forno - expertly cook and served in a warm scallop shell with a great lemony sauce, and the Duck Liver Mousse - light and flavorful. Small plates serve 2 but can be increased to three if desired. Following these we shared the Artichoke Pinzimonio and Skate Wing, which were both very tasty and artistically presented. We also shared two pastas, the Maltagliati with lamb sausage, harissa and fava - which was very good and well-seasoned (i.e. not overpowered by harissa, which typically occurs) and, the overall winner of the evening, the Agnolotti del Plin, which were flavorful little pasta pillows of perfection (and the sauce? WOW! - full of tasty little islands of pureed parsnips). Desserts were a wonderful deconstructed Sfogliatelle and passionfruit sorbetto and the flavorful Hazelnut Monte Bianco with pear tea sorbetto and a doppio espresso. Service was expert, we never felt either rushed or ignored. We left tastily satisfied, not stuffed, and looking forward to our second (and third, and fourth, etc.) trip to SRV. read more

Nice atmosphere and very good handmade pastas. Definitely will be back but not quite up to my recent experiences at Tapestry and Brassica.

Every dish was memorable, unique and exquisite. The tasting menu was delightful in every way. SRV lived up to its James Beard nomination.

I've been wanting to try SRV for a while, but hadn't gotten around to it because I thought it might be too upscale/stiff for my tastes. I was very wrong about that! We sat on the back patio on a beautiful evening and experienced really friendly service complete with excellent recommendations. All of the food was delicious, but the pastas were particularly impressive. I definitely hope to return! read more

Absolutely delicious. Great service. Looking forward to many return visits!

The food here is outstanding but I wonder about their 'service model.' We arrive at 6:30 to sit at the bar; the bar is full. I ask the hostess if we can have a table for 2. She says the restaurant is full for the evening. The ENTIRE evening? She sees me look at the partially full room and says 'we will be full over the next hour.' We go back to the bar and a waitress walks by and asks us if we want a table. I say yes but there aren't any available. She says 'let me see what I can do.' She comes back (it is 6:45) and says you can have a table until 8; we get seated. The waiter reinforces our 8:00 departure from the table which makes for a less than relaxed dinner. At the end of the meal he says he can get us seats at the bar (for dessert) and we say okay. He comes back with a oops, it's full and we can go on a waitlist. No thank you, this place is nuts. Then, a waitress approaches the table and says 'we have seats for you at the bar.' We give into this bizarre experience and go to the bar. As we leave, now around 9:30, the restaurant is still partially full. Pretentious, unorganized or understaffed? read more

One of my favorite new restaurants in South End. Fantastic food, not huge portion like most American restaurants. Very nice wine list and excellent service. I keep going back to this place read more

Delicious dinner, made me wish I had more excuses to visit Boston. We started with mozzarella in carrozza (what can go wrong when you get cheese? ;)), baby octopus, and tuna in saor: the latter was the best dish of the evening. What an interesting combination of flavors! The tajarin were fantastic, and the squid ink risotto very good (although a bit too much chili and lemon for me). The Nebbiolo wine was an excellent complement. Cool ambiance and very good service. Will definitely go back next time. read more

Our first time at SRV Tonite. Jessica was our server. She was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food exceed our expectations. Thank you for a great dinner. read more

Last night was the first of what I hope will be many amazing meals at SRV. We love the small dish, sharing concept of dining. Our pleasant & efficient server, Josh, did a beautiful job of describing how the menu works & making suggestions. Everything we ate was delicious with the stand-outs being the Polpette (amazing meatballs), the Vongole alla Pescatore (sweet, tiny clams in buttery, garlicky sauce w/rustic bread to sop it up) & the Fazzoletti (sausage e/broad tender pasta). Can't wait to go back........... read more

Amazing place. The decor, the staff, the drinks and the food were fantastic. Not to be missed when visiting Boston.

I've now had two delicious meals at SRV. The first time was last summer, with a large party, so we opted for the tasting menu. Everything was fabulous, and they were incredibly accommodating of my pescatarian diet, bringing modified or alternative dishes for me. The second time was with a smaller party so we ordered a mix of plates to share. Also a great meal! Very tasty cocktail list as well, and in my experience the staff are extremely nice, well-informed about the food, and helpful. read more

Dined here with a group of friends on a work trip. The plates are designed to share. We ordered it up, including meatballs, mozzarella balls, kale pear salad, ricotta gnudi, sweet potato ravioli and duck ragout and more. Table favs were the kale salad and pastas; duck ragout was the star. We all agreed the dessert was one of the best we've had - a vanilla ice cream scoop covered in chocolate and hazelnuts, with a shot of espresso poured over it at the table. Service was friendly and warm. read more

Just had a fantastic dinner here with a friend. Service was impeccable and you would never know they just opened less than a week ago. Really nice menu with many plates to share.
