Had dinner on a Sunday evening with a beautiful sunset over the water. I enjoyed a delicious scallop basket that included fries and slaw. The scallops were lightly breaded and fried just right! My wife's choice was seafood lasagna. It had almost a lobster bisque taste with several great cheeses. She said it was a WOW! Our server was Justin and he kept our glasses refilled. Does not serve single diners. I just visited this location at 4:45 PM Thursday afternoon. The parking lot was about 25% of capacity. When I stopped at the front desk and asked for a table for ONE I was told I could sit at the bar. I told the girl I wanted a table. She said, I'd have to wait for a table. I asked really, it's not that busy. She said yes, you'll have to wait. I said no thanks. Directly behind me was a couple who asked for a table. The girl said sure, I can seat you right now! When I spoke up EXCUSE ME, this isn't right. She ignored me and proceeded to seat the couple. Just for the record I'm a senior, was dressed appropriately for a beachy, waterfront restaurant. Good place for families or groups. Great seafood selection or alternatives for those who may want something else. Food came out quickly and was DELICIOUS. We loved the coconut pineapple bread served with the meal. We ordered Bacon wrapped scallops (huge), Shrimp & jalapeño grits, fish & shrimp meal, Caribbean fish, and kids fish stick (served on a frisbee)... all were so good and portions were large enough to share, pig out, or have leftovers. Pleasantly surprised would be the way to describe this visit. We had spent the day out on the coast, and we were looking for a decent place to take the kids for a bite on the way home. We turned to our trusty navigator, Groupon, and she directed us to Squid Lips. I do not know why, but I trusted the 4.5 stars on Groupon and didn't think to check Yelp...until we got there. I pulled it up and saw the dismal ratings (looks like it is roughing it to stay over 2). At this point, we were knee deep in it, so why not commit? Upon driving up, it looks like an old restaurant on the inlet. It is Cocoa, so I do not expect luxury. It looks large and fairly run down, but not in a bad way. We entered around 4pm, so there was not much of a crowd. We were greeted and taken what seemed like a mile to our table, which was inside overlooking the deck (more on that later) and the inlet. It was a really nice view. The server was quick to come up and take drink orders, and was very accommodating for us and our three minions. We took some recommendations and I ordered the conch fritters for an app and the lobster/crab cakes for an entree. My wife opted for fish and chips, and the kids went with the typical burger and chicken. The fritters were plentiful, enough to where we both commented it was too much. We were nearly full after eating them. They were good, just enough chewy to go with the batter. Nice mix of batter with crispy diced veggies. The dip was also very good. We found that our 2 year old son is also a big fan. My lobster/crab cakes were very good. I strongly advise going with the sauteed. Much better. The garlic mash was really good, and stolen by most of the rest of the family. The veggies were a bit rubbery as mentioned in other reviews...but with a menu so big, it is kind of expected. Overall, we were very happy. It is not quite five star, but has potential to be a nice local spot. The menu is way too big and needs to be trimmed, but we had no issues with anything we ordered. Everyone from the hostess to the server were beyond friendly...the kind you would expect at Disney. We would visit again, even without Groupon. Total bill for 4.5 of us was just over $60 before any discounts...very manageable :) **The deck does not have any seating at the time. Apparently, some local folk have been bitching, and they have been putting regulations on the restaurant for having dining out on the lagoon. They have flyers hanging up front and in the restaurant to inform patrons and also let them know how to voice this. You can really tell this has been an issue, which is a shame. read more

I had told my wife and our daughter what a great time I had had at Squid Lips in Sebastian, that it was a given we would be stopping in for lunch in Cocoa. To start, we got the Bacon-wrapped Scallop Appetizer, which all three of us thoroughly enjoyed. My wife ordered a Marina Margarita from the Bar, so I ordered a Mad Manatee beer. The beer was a bit dry, almost like an IPA; but, a bit more refreshing than "puckering." For mains, my wife got the Seafood Scampi; and, our daughter got the Shrimp and Grits. Of course, I had to order the the Fried Chicken Livers, which were just incredible! To go with it, I opted for a cup of Conch Chowder, which was also delicious. This is a huge property! They have other locations this review is for the one in Cocoa Beach. The inside is a hodge podge of rooms and offshoots and there is a large outdoor area. The property is currently going through some sort of renovations so things seemed a little out of place. We arrived at 530 on a Wednesday and there was no hostess at the stand, waited a couple minutes until someone finally noticed us all standing there. The menu is huge and looks like it hasn't been changed since the 80's. The service was good. A really good selection of beers and cocktails. The appetizers were really good, steamed mussels and calamari. The entrees were ok. They are all throwbacks to yesteryear and the old school seafood dishes that maybe you grew up on (fried shrimp, stuffed flounder, crab cakes etc.) The food is good it is not new or inventive so if you are looking for that go elsewhere. Food and service gets 3 stars but they need to address the menu and get control of the space: too choppy and feels like you are at a restaurant/bar/club. read more

This place had potential. Excellent location, food and drinks (specials). Each time we go it is nearly empty. The food and prices are worth the trip. But it seems with each visit we went, the bar/dining area seems dirtier. Little bugs (fruit flies?) flying around. Complete turn off. The staff doesn't seem too busy, but friendly, but one of the managers would come around to make sure everything was okay. That is nice of managers to do, however, maybe not repeatedly asking again and again and also he kept popping out of nowhere. If you go, the happy hour specials of food and drinks are worth it, just maybe sit outside. They have also been raving about the live music that was supposed to happen on their amazing patio/deck. We used Yelp to find the best Seafood Restaurant for lunch in Cocoa Beach. After reading the reviews, we chose this one. I had the Abaco Fish Sandwich,because I love coconut and mango chutney. It was excellent! My husband chose the Mahi Reuben Sandwich, and really liked that too! Our waiter, Thor, even offered to give up "ToGo" cups of water. During lunch we saw a Porpoise exploring around the Inter-Coastal Waterway next to the restaurant. Thor suggested I put some of my chips in the water to feed the fish. The catfish swarmed around quickly. The restaurant also has a Koi Pond at the entrance--with HUGE Koi due to the ability for guests to feed the Koi for 25 cents! read more

Came in the other day with my family, the food was delicious and my server was exceptional but the host was extremely rude and seemed bad at her job. I believe her name was brandy? She had medium length black hair and bright blue contacts. She seemed very annoyed by us coming in, like we were bothering her. Great outdoor seating right on the water. Walk out deck with high top and low top seating. Drinks were well made. Lobster and grab cakes were good, nothing extraordinary that separates them from other places but I would order again. Scallop and shrimp pasta has a nice butter garlic sauce.
