I asks the barista can I go to the bathroom I was pregnant she told me you must purchase something I said I am going to purchase something as soon as I go to the bathroom she was making like 10 drinks the customer in front of her seen that it was really urgent as soon as she took the next customer who was in front of me the customer said you know what just take her she said no you was waiting longer , She had no consideration that I was pregnant she was very rude and disrespectful. Yes, this new hideaway on Atlantic Ave is perfect to visit after a long day or an event at Barclays. The neighborhood has already been taking advantage of this place and setting up birthday parties and lunch meetups. It has fresh cakes from a local bakery. There is a back room for private parties of 6-8 as well as tables in the main section and the front of the cafe by the window. I really wanted to love this place, but after giving it a lot of tries it's a great concept with questionable execution. I can only speak to their drinks and food - every milk tea I've ordered from here has ranged from mediocre to actively disgusting. They don't know how to prepare matcha here - it's come out bitter and burnt tasting every time. Their bubble tea has that horrible fake brown sugar flavoring instead of real brown sugar. Their iced earl grey latte was at least palatable, but weak, and the citrusy flavor you usually get with them tasted fake somehow. The last straw was when I ordered a chicken sandwich from them and the chicken was raw in the middle. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I'd already eaten half, so I'm just here waiting to find out how sick I get from it. I love the idea of a neighborhood cafe with board games, bubble tea, and snacks, but they need to get their kitchen in order for this to work. I'm never coming back unless they make drastic changes to how they prepare food and tea. read more

Not good for boba tea (bubble tea, tapioca pearls). Not sure how they cook their boba, but I don't think they cook it in honey or brown sugar so the pearls were very bland. Most tea places sweeten their pearls so it's always a sad disappointment when the tapioca is not up to expectations. I got the peach oolong tea which was pretty good for an iced tea, subtle peach flavor with a strong oolong taste. Also, they looked like they had a lot of games so it would be fun for that! read more

I really appreciated the chill, familiar vibe from the baristas, the size of the wooden tables, the shape of the long indoor space, even the diversity of the customers. It's not too loud nor too quiet, staff are friendly and accommodating but not overbearingly attentive, and the prices are all pretty reasonable. It's hard to find a place in Brooklyn that isn't pretentious and exclusive but is also nice to relax in with a friend on a weekend for a while - somehow Squarrel manages to achieve that feel in a super commercialized area. Squarrell is my favorite local business to have opened in the neighborhood in the past few years. It's great to have a spot to be able to meet up with friends and play games. They have really friendly staff, great tea (@Squarrell - please add Mango popping boba to your bubble tea topping selection), and are conveniently located near Barclays center. I would like to see a wider game selection and have the ability to purchase games from them. I'd much rather support Squarrell than Amazon, so hopefully that will come in the future! I live close by, and always come here to grub a cup of coffee in the morning before I go to work. They have very decent coffee and tea, the staff are nice and friendly. What makes them different than other cafe is that they have a huge selection of boardgames!!! It's great to invite couple of friends and play boardgames together after work.
