The sign got me! I was running to find a matcha latte before heading to the train station. There was a sign outside the store promoting a cherry blossom matcha latte and I was a sucker for it. The place is narrow with a few seats in the front near the door. I was told by another customer that the stairs lead to a nook upstairs where one can work or study. You couldn't tell from outside. The person working the counter is was so sweet. The special drink wasn't on their general menus but they had it prepared plus it already comes with oat milk. The drink was actually fruity plus it had actual flowers in it. It was a nice balance of sweet and floral. This could be a nice cozy place to work in the future. read more

You'll see neighbors popping in, people grabbing their morning cup, and the occasional laptop open while someone settles in for a bit. It feels like a true Flatbush local stop. Cozy coffee shop! And when I say cozy I mean small lol. It's more of a takeout coffee shop, but they are pushing out some good coffee and teas. I met a friend for some early am coffee and had some peppermint tea but was immediately mad that I didn't see what other tea they had. They had about 15 plus varieties of harney and son teas and so many different cold and hot coffee. A must stop buy if you're in the area. Not much room for seating prob about 4-6 persons is a squeeze, and then they have a cute book above for kids. But pretty much a to go spot. read more

I moved to a new spot on Flatbush Avenue at the southern tip of Prospect Park. Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a totally different neighborhood than what I'm used to. Very busy, lots of graffiti, heavy traffic, and so many people. I don't spend much time exploring my street, unless I'm doing laundry. When I first asked the landlady where she goes, she said there's a laundromat across from Loud Baby. That prompted a mission to find it. The coffee shop has a few benches out front and two small tables. Painted black with no sign, it's very easy to miss. Unless you know. After putting my laundry in the machines, I walked back across the street and was pleasantly surprised. It's adorable inside. Brick walls, small seating area in the front, and a two seater high top next to the counter, plus a little staircase up to a reading loft. I ordered an iced cold brew with oat milk and took it upstairs. It does get a little toasty up there so I only stayed for a few minutes, but it was long enough to catch a good vibe. Coffee was great, staff was very friendly, and being the one spot on my block that I've explored and liked, I'll be back. Need to keep checking out recommendations in the area because I'm sure there are plenty more hidden gems like this. read more

Loud Baby is a very small cafe and I managed to miss twice with my boyfriend while trying to find it. Inside, there are a few seats with tables and a much comfier lounge upstairs. The tables and chairs by the door are quite wobbly and the ac doesn't seem to reach the section. It's cooler closer to the cash register. I ordered the cherry blossom iced tea because I was curious about how it'd taste. It's sweet and I'm still not sure if I like it but it's not bad. Meanwhile, their earl grey tea is very standard. The place has free wifi and I am actually currently writing this review inside the cafe! A downside is that they have no bathrooms available, which is inconvenient for a place that sells drinks. I love this coffee shop and I've been so proud to watch this place stay afloat throughout the pandemic. Although I frequent many of the coffee shops in this area, I specifically pop by here on the weekends for their freshly baked croissants and unique coffee blends. They make jasmine cold brew and in the past they've had tangerine and lavender as well. On top of how delicious their cold brew and croissants are, I love the community vibe that you see all around the inside. There are items for sale from local vendors, a message board for services, and a small lending library. I am proud to be a regular here and I invite you to check them out. read more

I can't speak for the coffee because I am not a coffee drinker but they have every tea flavor you could hope for and also have some other beverage choices for people not into coffee or tea. It looks tiny from outside but they have a decent amount of seating and a very cute upstairs loft that even has a baby gate if that's a concern. The owners are super kind and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they do. I really wanted to like this place, since I was living in the area and may be returning soon for a stretch. But I did not have a great experience when I went. I am a chai lattefan, and it was not a hit for me. The price point was higher than many; I go to fancy coffee shops frequently, but for the size as well as the flavor, I was not a fan. Another thing that bothered me was that I sat at the little tables by the door, and EVERY TIME a customer came, the door STAYED OPEN. I got up to latch it shut every time someone came in or left, but the door would not stay latched and the noise was really annoying from the street, for someone who just paid nearly $7 for a chai latte experience. *I love that it is an economical use of space, AND that it brings income to the area*. And for that, I hope it survives and makes improvements! I don't love that the door doesn't shut, which leads to a very distracting experience for someone who wants to sit and drink their hot beverage, rather than grab-and-go. Also, no restroom after a $7 liquid item, no bueno. Fingers crossed these things can be improved after their initial investment is recouped, as this doesn't seem like a place I would return. read more

The space is kind of small but I think it just makes it homey, and they also have this cute tiny loft thing with pillows that is very cozy, and they have windows around the loft so it doesn't feel closed off and isolated.
