The Oakland location is prime, but I am so glad that this location has opened! There are limited food options in this area (office buildings) and we definitely needed more variety for lunch. The pizza is so good and I have to say, their gluten free dough is probably one of the best out there. If you like pepperoni, sausage, and honey, try The Big Von! It's delicious! I love that they often have BOGO free or other deals that really make it worth the money. The workers are so friendly and always welcome you with a smile. The vibe kind of reminds me of a bright and airy pub, and the amount of seating is great. This is quickly becoming one of my go to spots for lunch and dinner. read more

We dropped in for lunch on a rainy day. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Outdoor seating was not an option because of the weather. Indoor the place is huge behind the counter but customer seating is limited, especially for large groups. The metal chairs are definitely not very comfortable. One orders at the counter and you take your drinks to your table but they do bring the food to the table. Now the positive stuff: all three pizzas that we shared were delicious! Crispy,thick and tasty! Jackie was very kind and helpful, even though she was the sole employee by about 2pm. The cookie was big enough for six of us to share! Wish I had taken a photo! It was my first time ever at a SPG location. The staff greeted me immediately upon walking in, and asked if they could help. This location was clean, bright and roomy. I ordered the Big Von, which had a good amount of toppings and cheese. The crust was cooked through, and it had that nice crispy cheese edge. Some bites were a bit too salty for my liking, which I think was from the white sauce drizzled on top. I was able to schedule my order for a specific pick up time and the friendly team executed my 3 pizzas and wings right on the dot. My hubz was able to order a custom vegan pie without cheese, I got the Ellen Supreme and the lemon pepper wings. Everything was tasty - albeit kind of salty - crispy crust, cheese and ample toppings! 3.5 stars. I got pizza two days in a row because it was so good the first day. Unfortunately, for me the second day I got pizza it was super dry even though I paid for extra cheese. I think they forgot most of the white sauce too. The first day, my pizza tasted like how Pizza hut use to taste back in the early 2000's but waaay better. Quality ingredients and the young Hispanic woman helping me was super nice. Every visit I spent $50 plus dollars. This place tastes like what a true Detroit style pizza would taste like. The ingredients put into the pizza taste good quality and were balanced. Pepperoni was better than average. The texture was also something that I noticed was better than other detroit style pizzas Ive had. Nice crisp edges and not burnt and clean tasting. The middle was soft but not doughy. Wings were also solid. Crispy outside, juicy inside and good flavor and not greasy. The stand out to me was the ranch. It had a lemon zest to it and great on the wings. but it also great on the pizza! (Im from california dont hate me) Came here for an early lunch on Saturday and we were the only ones dining in. Staff was nice and helpful. Although they seem to be dealing with "new store" syndrome. Not 100% sure on certain ingredients. Took about 10ish minutes to get our pizza and shorter time for the wings. The restaurant is on the smaller side. Its clean and has a new store look. Basic decor with posters on the walls. A very casual spot for lunch or late night quick dinner. Yum. We parked on side street at paid meters. Parking is very limited at this location and is paid only. Walked into a super modern, clean facility. Staff was very nice and welcoming and explained the menu since it was our first time. The music was pretty loud in there and made it a little hard to have conversation. We chose the build your own and had sausage, mushroom and olive. The size is perfect for two people and dag gone it was so good. Came during their soft opening- there was like only 4 parking spaces in the front so you have to park further and walk. Small but cute place, very much a casual spot where you order in the front and pay out before sitting down. They have beers, pizzas and small bites. We tried the P-lo pizza that consisted 4 slices for about $25 as well as a side of the Schezuan dry wings. It was rather salty but very crispy which I liked. The pizza had quite a kick to it, they do not skimp on the ingredients which is great. The pizza is rather small but it is filling especially if you get small bites as well. We decided to try the pizza during the soft opening. There was a 40% off promotion. My friend had waited almost two hours the day before for her order so I was a little skeptical. The app wasn't accepting orders so I decided to check the website. The app had hours 11:30am-9:00, but the website listed 3:00pm--9:00pm. Ordering opened up a little after 3:00pm. I was bummed to see a number of the pizzas unavailable. The estimated wait time was 35 mins. My partner arrived about 45 mins after the order was placed and he could see our order just sitting there. It was closer to 50-55 minutes for the two pizzas. We settled on the Big Von and Ellen Supreme. The bread itself was very good. The Ellen Supreme toppings were just okay. The pickled peppers and grilled onions were underwhelming. We couldn't really taste the sauce on the Big Von. It was a little doughy. I understand it's a soft opening so I know they're working through some hiccups. Not sure if we would try this again. read more

Got a burnt pizza, got hassled for requesting a refund. I'm not a food Karen...I've done 300+ reviews on Yelp, and the vast majority of them are positive, pretty much the only time I leave negative reviews is when service is poor. Ordered a P-lo pizza on 3/27 at 11:00am via their app. While inside, I opened the box and saw the pizza was burnt. I like crispy pizza, when I make it at home I always leave it in the oven for a few minutes longer than instructed. But this pizza was way too burnt for my taste. The onions were completely carbonized, the pepperoni was half black, and the cheese on the sides were completely black. A bit of char is good, but ash and soot was getting on my fingers from just touching it. See the photos and judge for yourself. So they burnt my pizza, no big deal, mistakes happen, I wasn't too fussed about it. I didn't have time for them to remake a new pizza for me, so I would probably have come back another day. I hadn't eaten any of the pizza, so I asked for a refund. This is where they lose me. The employees proceeded to tell me this was completely normal, telling me "its just how Detroit style is!" and how its not burnt, that its "crispy" and this was how all their pizzas were. It was crazy to me that we were all looking at the pizza, how the cheese was completely black...and they were trying to gaslight me into taking the pizza instead of just processing my refund. Later on I looked up other people's photos and they definitely didn't look like mine. I was calm, but passive aggressive/hostile tone from one of the employees just made the whole exchange into an uncomfortable argument. I proceeded to start taking some photos of the pizza, and that's when the employee quickly snatched it and brought it to the back. I only got to take 2 quick pictures of it before they took it away. Only then, did they finally agree to giving me a refund. Then they told me they didn't know how to give refunds, and made me write my name and phone number on a post-it. As I was walking out the door, the employee had to get her last word in and said in a snarky tone that "it was a shame I didn't even try the pizza". Only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 was because I did eventually get my refund. Plus their pizzas do normally look really good (when not burnt). But next time, instead of arguing, just process the refund...it will save everyone a headache. read more

Micro Chain featuring Detroit style pizza. I have not been to Detroit to benchmark it ;). It is a good pie. Thick. 4 slice pie is $22-25 bucks but feeds 2-3 of me. It was good. It's a fast serve pizzeria and is brand new. Has that vibe. Servers were friendly and very busy in this soft opening week. I finally tried the square pie because they opened a spot in Walnut Creek next to Bart. The place is a cool spot. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Pie w/no green onions. For me the pizza was too salty. And it tasted better the day after but it was still too salty. I will need to return to try a red sauce square pie. read more

If I could give a 3.5 I would just a forewarning going into my review. I have been wanting to try square pie guys for a while and was very excited they opened one up close to me. Me, my partner, and our friend all went. My friend got the P-Lo pie and Szechuan wings and my partner and I split a buffalo chicken pie and lemon pepper wings. The cashiers were knowledgeable and kind. The inside was clean and modern which I can appreciate. My first gripe with this place was price point. 6 wings for $15 just seems expensive and the pies are deep dish yes but they are $25 each with no add ons and aren't very big, if you share with one person there will be no leftovers. Second is the taste of their ranch. This is a personal preference but their ranch has this tang to it that would really change the flavor of anything dipped into it rather than enhance. The Szechuan wings are a mustttt they were my favorite thing. The lemon pepper wings were average nothing exciting but good. The buffalo chicken pie was tasty but it lacked some heat and maybe another veggie to balance everything out. I do not eat pork so I did not try the P-LO pie in entirety but my friend and partner really liked it and felt it had all elements to make it one good pizza read more

I had become a fan of Square pie Guys when I used to pick up them up thru the Local Kitchen via Door dash out of Lafayette. I had seen their stores in Oakland, I had tried the multiple times and love their Pepperoni and their Mushroom pizza. I had recently see them open a location in Walnut Creek in the Waymark building by the Bart station. I kinda ordered it close to closing time, but they were super friendly and also helpful. I seemed like they had a few seats inside and outside the restaurant. The pizza was delicious as always and we will go back again. They have a P'lo pizza with Vodka sauce, Sausage, Longanisa amongst other good stuff. We will go and try more of their pizzas on their menu. read more

I wanted to get the p-lo pie based on reviews but was told they took it off the menu, sadly. But I tried something else the cashier recommended and it was yummy! I also had the square cookie but far my favorite thing I had was the garlic cheesy bread with marinara. It is so good!! Do yourself a favor and get it. The ambiance is somewhat industrial but I imagine it warms up when there are more people dining in. I see many people grabbing takeout, which I think I'll do next time. My experience is solely for a DoorDash order. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage and a cheese for myself and two kids and it was plenty of food - we had some left over! The crust is my favorite. I usually toss pizza crust but this crust I can eat forever. Nice and crispy. The dough is also very very good and soft. My order came hot even though I live about 15 mins away so that was nice. Easy to drive past and miss where it's at, if you see the huge sculpture flowers on the corner you're in the right spot. There's a construction area blocked off right near it. The pizza was ready exactly when it said it would be which was impressive and it was the best pizza I've had from any SPG location. Service was friendly even though they were slammed. They have gluten free crust and it was yummy! I looked again at the menu and didn't see a make your own option (which I prefer). The only miss was the ranch for me, it was watery and didn't have the best flavor on top of being pricy for small container. The lighting in the place is pretty bright, white, and rough, but it was clean and nicely done with plenty of seating. They have their own app you can order on. read more

We dropped into this location while Square Pie Guys was having their 40% off for opening week. The honey and I split a 'Make Your Own' and we loved that they had an option for Impossible Meat as well as Herb Chicken. I'm not usually a fan of deep dish, but the honey is and we found the crust not too crunchy and well cooked. I did feel they went a bit light on the toppings, but the price was very reasonable and the service was prompt and friendly. They also have so much more seating than we expected both inside and outdoors. All in all, they're a solid 3.6 and the location is fantastic for the local lunch crowd. The pizza had some heat but wasn't too spicy. Though thinking about normal prices and value, almost $30 seems a bit high. ***Now for the unfortunate experience during soft opening, day 3 mind you, not day 1. This DIDNT factor into my score because soft openings are for ironing out the kinks and learning, but it wasnt a great experience. It took an hour to get my order; I wasn't advised of how long the wait would be on the phone; there were not enough employees; one employee was purely dedicated to cutting the paper liners for the boxes which probably should be a prep/morning activity, not rush hour; many pizzas (including mine) sat ready on the back counter with no employee in sight to call out names for hella long (see photo)... even after I got the "your pizza is ready" text, it took another 10 minutes before I got it. I actually had to use my phone's camera to zoom into the waiting boxes/tickets to see if mine was ready and Sure Enough it was sitting there the whole time (?). On top of this, the people calling out names were so quiet... when you have a large crowd you gotta Speak Up or else it adds to the wait, crowd, and confusion Anyways, still big props to all the workers who were grinding it out. read more
