The food was very good, everything was fresh and the combination of flavors were perfectly flavored. I ordered the chicken avocado bowl with Romain and quinoa as a base. You can pick your own and I subbed crunchy rice vs. tortilla chips. I loved my bowl and wistfully look back to try some of the other bowls I saw other patrons order. This is a fast casual spot, you place your order while going down a line to select ingredients. At the end your salad or bowl is tossed and ready to eat. I've been a Sweetgreen customer since the original Mountain View location opened roughly 15 years ago. Today was the worst customer service experience I've ever had at any Sweetgreen. I specifically requested a bowl for dine in because I strongly dislike eating out of the compostable cardboard containers. They affect the taste and overall dining experience for me. When I asked for a bowl, I was told none were available. The problem was that I could clearly see bowls in the restaurant. I was told they were "dirty" and unavailable. I also observed bowls being used for wrap preparation. I pointed out that there were other bowls visible, including plastic and porcelain bowls, but Store Manager Julia repeatedly cited "store policy" and offered no solution whatsoever. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of effort to accommodate a loyal customer. No attempt to wash a bowl. No alternative suggestion. No effort to find a manager-level solution. Just a flat "no." As a result, my wife ate her salad, my daughter ate her wrap, and I sat there watching because I refused to eat from the cardboard container. I've happily supported Sweetgreen for over 15 years, but after today's experience, that relationship is over. Other fast-casual restaurants like MIXT and Tender Greens have no issue providing proper dine-in bowls and plates when customers request them. The issue wasn't the bowl. It was the attitude, the unwillingness to help, and a manager who seemed more interested in hiding behind policy than solving a customer problem. After 15 years as a customer, I expected better. For the price you get a good portion, I loved the dressing and also liked that you can still customize it and add additional ingredients if you want. You know it's kind of hard to eat at sweet when shake shack across the street but I would say that sweet green like the food you can tell is really fresh and it's like really good. The only thing I would say it's like really expensive. They don't have like that many options. Health choices and reasonably price. You can go to McDonald's and get some greasy unhealthy food for a couple bucks cheaper than a healthy plate/bowl from here. Their food is hot and fresh, and made to order so you know you're not getting anything that was reheated in a microwave. It's clean, organized, and the food line is quick due to the amount of workers they have. I favor the Caramelized Garlic Steak as it's tender and juicy bites go very nicely with the wild rice and sweet potatoes they offer. They ask you if you want light, medium or heavy amounts of dressing on your bowl. I asked for medium but my salad was swimming in dressing. Otherwise, the meal had loads of flavor and it was refreshing. The service and vibe was fine. Overall nothing amazing. Highly positive opinion of sweetgreen Walnut Creek location. It's probably the restaurant that I frequent the most within the downtown Walnut Creek area, due to having a sweetpass membership where I pay $10, which allows me to get $3 off every order, with a refresh period of 12-hour periods. The staff that works here are always friendly, the orders arriving timely, and them just knowing how to efficiently have folks in and out for this fast-casual category of restaurant. They definitely have folks that keep an eye out for utensils, to ensure that tables are made fit for sitting, and that all things run smoothly. When comparing this location to a couple of the other locations that I frequent - SOMA and Oakland City Center, I would drop it 1 star, down to the current 4 star rating. It is marginally less expensive than some items than the SOMA location, but in terms of cleanliness, sometimes the staff would be too busy tending to customers to empty out the compostable bins. This has resulted in frequent overflowing of the compostable bins and a huge mess by their disposal area by their restrooms. When compared to the Oakland City Center location, I would rank this higher in terms of timely pick-up orders, but noticed that some items are about $1-$1.50 more expensive than this Walnut Creek location. The food is always fresh, with quality ingredients, and well portioned. I would stay that this is one of the main selling points and why I decided to sign up for a sweetpass. read more

I have never been scammed in this way before from a restaurant. The guy making my order was also a little lost and didn't know what he was doing. He was not helpful at all. About $16 for a pretty pedestrian salad, but to be fair it only had 500 calories. So, there ya are. The salad you asked? I got the buffalo chicken with blackened chicken, buffalo sauce, caesar dressing, blue cheese and tomatoes. Again, 500 calories, but nothing crazy here. I'd imagine the calories all came from the dressing. I asked for some purple cabbage to brighten up this dish with both texture and color, and they let me know that it would be extra. Again, eh? The main gripe: it was so noisy inside AND (big and here), there was no seating. This is a one off, but like kind of a big one off: Like literally the chairs were gone, minus a few. I followed up with the staff and they were like oh, yeah, they were taken, we are getting new ones. Well, that is great, but like new one's weren't there yet. I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Sweetgreen support and feel compelled to share it. I made an online order in error and tried to correct it immediately, but Sweetgreen provides no way to edit or cancel an order and no way to contact the store directly. Their automated system makes it impossible to resolve a simple mistake. I contacted support right away and was told I would receive a refund and that someone would follow up within twenty four hours. No one ever reached out. When I tried again, I had to repeat the entire situation to another support agent who confirmed I would be connected to a live person. That agent then told me they would only refund a single item, not the entire incorrect order, even though I had placed a corrected order only minutes later. I explained that this policy creates a situation where customers have no way to fix a mistake and no way to speak with a store before an order is made. Their response was to repeat policy language instead of addressing the situation or offering a reasonable solution. The end result was no meaningful help, no accountability for the earlier promise of a full refund, and several long back and forth messages that went nowhere. This experience made it clear that Sweetgreen does not support customers who use their own online ordering system. What should have been an easy fix turned into a very poor experience that left me feeling unheard and dismissed. Met my friend here for our pre-Christmas lunch that we do annually in Walnut Creek. Sure it's pricey but then again what isn't these days? Especially when you're served fresh, high quality ingredients. I thought their pre-configured salad and bowl options had a lot of variety. Something for everyone! I got the California crunch hummus salad which was packed full of flavorful veggies, hummus, chick peas and pita croutons. Very yummy. I don't like olives and they let you substitute so I got shredded carrots and dressing on the side. Nice and filling lunch.
