Casual dining. There is a parking lot with limited spaces. Make a reservation. Service was nice and friendly but not consistent. We decided to get a bunch of dishes and share. 10/10- chicken liver pâté with seasonal jam and focaccia - smooth - creamy - paired with the sweet jam 7/10 -kanpachi crudo, satsuma ponzu, crispy sunchoke, mustard seed - fish was tender - slight sweet and crunch bits 9/10- mesquite smoked lamb ribs, white BBQ sauce, rosemary - Lamb was very tender and fell of the bone, sauce was tangy. 10/10- marinated mussels on grilled bread, calico' beans - mussels were flavorful, bread was toasted just right provided a nice vehicle for all the toppings. I enjoyed this dish. 9/10 - pork collar milanese, white anchovy, fennel, apple. - very balanced - savory crispy pork and the topping gave freshness and sweet and tanginess. 8/10- roast chicken and potatoes, lemon aioli, herbed schmaltz - dining companions enjoyed the this dish - moist chicken and potatoes were tasty 5/10 - campanelle, crawfish, Calabrian chile, crab butter - pasta was nice but the spicy sauce overpowered the crab butter and crawfish.

I can't stress enough how magical the flavors are. Each bite has depth. Flavor upon flavor upon flavor - they sink in & fall together like perfection. Crudo, pork Milanese, sweet potato dumplings and squash with pomegranate stole the show - freaking amazing as always. The venison tartare had a mustard base which I enjoyed. I still have a preference for the tartare version served a couple years ago with briny capers though. I hope they bring it back.

I came to Squable for my birthday dinner and it was an amazing meal! The interior is lively with an open bar and a pretty loud noise level, yet the service is so good that it keeps the restaurant at an elevated level. They have smaller shared plates and we were recommended to order 5, with 2 of them being main plates, for two people. For our cold plate we got the venison tartare, which was a standout not because of the tartare but actually because of the shoestring fries. Absolutely delicious, probably the best fries I've ever had. The tartare was also delicious but much lighter in flavor besides the mustard, honestly it was a little overpowered by the fries. For our hot plates we got the lamb chops and the charred broccoli. The broccoli was one of my favorite plates surprisingly, with a strong dill and cilantro flavor that paired well with the overall tanginess of the plate. The lamb chops were also delicious with super tender meat that fell off the bone, however it was quite fatty. The sauce it comes in is quite light which was a good balance. For our mains, we got the branzino and the rigatoni. The branzino was quite good, with a delicious sauce and a perfect sear on the skin. The fish was deboned as well. The rigatoni, on the other hand, was probably our least favorite dish. There was a horseradish gremolata that was quite strong and not our favorite. The oxtail sauce on the pasta was also quite rich but the flavors were a little dull for what we expected, disappointingly. However, we're excited to try new dishes next time, and the menu changes frequently so we'll get to taste something new! For dessert, we got the chocolate cherry torte which was AMAZING. Definitely on the sweet side, but luckily it doesn't cross the line. I also got a snickerdoodle cookie for my birthday with a candle which was sweet! Ultimately Squable has definitely earned its reputation as a delicious spot in the Heights and I can't wait to come back!

Taste wise. A very great brunch. What takes away from it is the service, price for what you get, and little hiccups. I would say that as a non brunch person, I genuinely enjoyed most of our dishes. I didn't enjoy the overly brisk attitude. Our plates were just plopped down in front of us with no description, no nothing. Like the tater tots are 32 dollars for 6 blocks I would like some little into or blurb ( the tots are delicious btw). We also had to ask the waitress for new plates quite a bit. No one wants to eat a burger off a plate that just had jam and whipped cream on it. Also, we came for a friends birthday so I thought they would do something but no. Idk maybe places don't care if it's your birthday anymore. I would maybe come back for brunch but I'm not rushing back to pay new American prices with mid tier customer service.

This place was so good half way through I forgot to take more pictures ‍‍ The parking is pretty decent, but the restaurant is pretty small inside. I recommend making reservations. When we got there, we had to wait a little longer than expected . I think we waited like an extra 15 minutes but worth the wait! It was also on a Friday as well. We ordered a bunch of shareable items. This place is definitely a shareable tapas type vibe. definitely recommend. Fun fact. We asked the restaurant manager why it was seemed squabble. Because squabble is what people do when they fight. They said the owners that were creating this restaurant could not decide on a name and they were squabbling about it. So they decided to just call it squabble.

Tastebuds awakened. Met the bestie for our monthly girl's date. She is the best. Roughly 6 min from home so plus plus. We had a 7:30 pm reservation. (Reserve, reserve, reserve) The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. Clean, organized. And dimly lit. There is a patio but it was roughly 40 something outside so no thanks. We were sat at a quaint table by the wall that had a nice light pouring downward. The menu is small. They have a full bar so cocktails and mocktails. Our order: afterglow (cocktail), kanpachi crudo, dumplings, charred broccoli, vegetable lasagna, seared branzino, chocolate hazelnut budino Kanpachi crudo (4.5/5) - delightfully refreshing and delicious; the citrusy sauce paired perfectly with fish dumplings (2.5/5) - recommended bc of its popularity but it just wasn't for us; the wrapping was overly soft and the filling wasn't enough to get a definitive flavor - the overall presentation was nice but it just wasn't our thing Charred broccoli (4/5) - the sauce had a combo of tangy, nutty creaminess which paired well with the charring of the broccoli Vegetable lasagna (4/5) - very hearty, for vegetarian only dish, it's def a twig in lasagna because at first glance it reminded me of French toast, def worth the hype Seared branzino (3.2/5) - I think my expectations were high; the fish was thin, the skin was a bit overcooked in certain parts making it chewy - it wasn't bad but it just didn't hit the spot Chocolate hazelnut budino (3/5) - reminded us of Ferrero roche it was a nice ending to our meal The menu changes. So make sure to look online before reserving. The staff is incredible. Everyone was nice and friendly. They do talk fast when describing the dishes Parking is two smaller lots and if you go on the weekend be prepared because it's in a corner with a variety of restaurants and shops. Def think it's a place everyone with an open palate should try.

Was back in town visiting friends and FINALLY got to try this spot. The ambiance is great, low lighting that's perfect for an intimate dinner with friends or date night. There's also plenty of seating - there was a large group dining at the same time as us, so the restaurant can definitely accommodate that. We tried so many things. We got the squash, the lamb ribs, the broccoli, the rigatoni, the chicken, and the white fish (I forget the name). Everything was DELICIOUS. Our favorites were definitely the squash, the chicken, and the broccoli. We were a group of three, and these five plates were the perfect amount for us to share. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a fancier dinner with friends or family!

Really cool spot. Absolutely love furniture and the overall look and feel of the spot. We had breakfast items aside from the pasta dish but all were fantastic. Really want to come back here and try more items.

Went here for bunch mainly for the beef fat tater tots after seeing them on instagram. However, everything was delicious. We also got the dutch baby, kanpachi crudo and loaded fries. They asked if we could tolerate spicy for the loaded fries and we overestimated ourselves, but the flavors were so good! The tater tots were crispy and melted in your mouth -- a sort of play on sour cream and onions, the salmon roe giving little punches of salt. The dutch baby with the bacon was a perfect mix of sweet and savory, made me miss making dutch babies at home. We'll have to come back for dinner.

10/10 everything was excellent- server was so nice. Mussel bread and leeks and chicken and oxtail rigatoni and... wait I'm listing everything- but truly everything was insanely unique and delicious flavor!

Squable never misses. I have been multiple times and I always enjoy it. Parking can be a little tricky since the lot is small, but there is street parking available. I have tried most things on the menu and I love that they change it up every so often. On my most recent visit I had the lamb ribs and the cheeseburger. Both were amazing and worth ordering again. One thing I always have to get is the charred broccoli. It is one of my favorite dishes there. Also do not sleep on the vegetable lasagne. It is so good! Consistently great food, great service, and a menu that keeps things exciting. Always a go to spot for me!

    Is kids friendly?

Definitely in terms of atmosphere, but the menu may be a little too advanced for them

    Is there valet parking?

No, not when we went. They have a parking lot and we didn't have trouble parking.

Is there a happy hour menu?

Last I was here in January, we had a note in our check saying HH is 4-6 weekdays at the Bar Top. 1/2 off all booze

What time does Sunday brunch end for dinner to start? Or are both menus available all day?

Brunch ends at 3:59 and Dinner starts at 4:00.

From looking at the pics the Dutch Baby is not a pancake? Please explain, a starter? Main dish? Side?

It's more of a pastry dish with a thin bottom layer and a flakey crust. It's more on the savory side with a bit of sweetness. A must IMHO. Would work best as a starter or a side. Try the dessert bread to end the meal! Both were excellent.

    Is the patio dog-friendly?

As of 9/24/19, the patio is NOT dog friendly. Confirmed via phone call with Angelica.

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back

This cucumber based cocktail was very refreshing! I also had a Clover Club which I enjoyed (I love the egg white)! Fried Deviled Egg - I opted to add caviar for an additional $8. It was good, but I just really prefer traditional deviled eggs without breading on them. Market Fish - Absolutely delicious! The fish was tender and flaky, seasoned well, and the tomato bacon broth was soooo good! My only complaint was the small portion. Bees Knees - Delicious! Caviar Tots - Compliments of Chef, Ryan (thank you)! 2nd Visit: I came back for dinner. Our server was Chris and he was really nice. We ordered a bunch of items for the table to share. Drinks: I did a So Fresh So Clean because I'm predictable and I loved it the first time. I also had a Negroni and it was really good. Butter Burgers: It normally comes with two, but Chris was nice and brought out a 3rd burger so that we could each have one. I enjoyed the French onion flavor in the beef, but the burger was too buttery for my taste. Crispy Potatoes - Very good with great flavor. Mushroom Empanada - I didn't try any, but my friends enjoyed them. Hanger Steak - It took 40 minutes for the steak to be brought out and unfortunately, one steak was overcooked while the other was undercooked. I tried a bite of the overcooked steak and the flavor was there. The steak was tender enough for my preference. Market Fish - Red Snapper. It was a larger portion, but the flavor wasn't as good as the first time. Additionally, my fish came out about 10 minutes before the steak and it got cold because I was waiting on the steak to be brought out. 3/6/26-Michelin Man? More like Michelin...maaaaaaan…read more.. In good Mel and the Doctor fashion, a rough week equates to "let's go have a great night." We get dressed up and venture to Le Jardinier. While we were super excited and ready for a great Friday evening, we checked in with an unwelcoming hostess. Mind you, this is our first impression since we have never been to any of the locations. He asked the hostess if we would be seated close or after our reservation time (that would determine if we would have a drink at the bar), we received a condescending toned response of "you can have a seat and I will work on getting a status update on that." Duly noted. A few minutes later we were told we could go to the bar to only then be escorted to the table. So we will look past that "weirdness" of initial service and get ready for a stiff drink...the bartenders know what they are doing! Martinis were the name of the game and they were perfect. Just perfect. The prefixe and wine pairing was the game plan. But before the fun stuff, came the bread service. Bread was more than bread, it was warm savory pillows with the perfect butter. Made a crumbly mess while tearing up the bread basket, expected table crumbler service, after, nothing. For Michelin, we expected the fine dining cleaning in between each course. The service was odd, and the servers seemed cold. The kanpachi and the scallop of the prefixe were Michelin. Overall, we might give it another shot, maybe it was a bad day...but still grateful to get in last minute due to rodeo season. Let me know your experience!

Came to Bistro Menil for a friend's birthday celebration to have afternoon tea on a Sunday for 2PM…read more Reservation process was smooth and our table was ready when we arrived. There is a small parking lot available for guests at the Bistro and for the Menil behind the building. There was plenty of parking available when we arrived. I was the first to arrive and as soon as I walked to the host stand, the host had time to say hello but then the phone rang. I was discouraged that he asked me to wait while he took the phone call and unfortunately it took several minutes. Once he hung up, he seated me promptly. The afternoon tea is lovely - you receive either italian soda (lemon or raspberry) or a glass of champagne first. Next, our food arrived and a little while later, we ordered our tea. All of the drinks were delicious and served at great temperatures (hot and cold, depending). The food was also delicious and the perfect portions for the occasion. At times, it was hard to get in touch with our waiter and service was a bit slow, but overall a good experience and I would go again for afternoon tea.

After entering, you are immediately greeted like family in a relaxing environment but with top notch food. It was my friend's bday so we celebrated with complimentary bubbles which was a nice touch. We enjoyed a large portion of their limited/rotating menu that did not disappoint. The tuna was my favorite. 10/10. A very extensive, higher end wine list complemented the meal nicely. Definitely need reservations -- book as early as possible. Seating is very limited especially for larger parties. Parking --- street parking around the block. Wasn't too difficult. Definitely a must try!

We made reservations several days in advance and still were only able to get patio seats. The vibe of the place is so Houston. It's a really nice restaurant - inside is small and cozy, decorated beautifully. The patio only has 2 tables but it's elegant. And it looks out at the highway, billboards, downtown, and abandoned homeless encampments. During dinner, we had a bachelorette party bus park beside us and a couple shirtless guys come up from the bayou with fishing poles. But it works - that's Houston! Food itself was good, but not great. I'll give it 5/5 stars for originality - each dish was unlike anything I've had elsewhere. - ratatouille- 4/5 - it was interesting, and mostly loved that it was soaking in some delicious olive oil. - broth- 4/5 - a nice little spicy kick, but otherwise was just okay - Tuna sashimi - 5/5 - fish was fresh and tasty! Appreciated the crunch between the layers of tuna. - French cheese pancake - 4/5 - generally can't go wrong with bread and cheese. It's interesting, and I liked the green onions topping it. - Fried shrimp and shiso- 4/5 - didn't love the sauce this came with, but otherwise this almost tasted like a jalapeno popper with shrimp. - snapper - 3/5 - poached, and pretty bland. Came with a very fishy seaweed reduction on the side. - potatoes side - 2/5 - don't get these unless you're looking for just boiled potatoes. They're pretty flavorless. Overall, interesting food for a one time visit, but unlikely a place we'll return to.

He was full of energy and very knowledgeable. He gave us details of every dish and has his own recommendations. Hands down the best service I have ever witnessed and received in Houston. Mezcal old Fashion: 7/10.. balanced and a bit flavorless. Kind of hard to explain. Lobster & clam pasta: 10/10.. wonderfully seasoned and the best thing I ate regarding a seafood style pasta. The clams were not that good but the lobster itself was perfectly seasoned. Dragon fruit Gin & Tonic: 10/10.. a must try. I never drank gin before and glad this was my introduction. Crispy phillo dough: 10/10.. you must get this as a desert. Perfectly buttery, flakey and the vanilla bean ice cream inside is just chefs kiss. I can eat 30 of these things honestly.
