I live down the road from this place and I pass it everyday on my way to and from school. I'm Irish, so naturally, I love potatoes. Considering both of those factors one would assume this would be a perfect fit for me. I gotta say, It does fit pretty well. Today my brother and I ordered from here for lunch. I normally would have gotten a ranch spud but I opted for the Tejas chicken sandwich with fries and my brother got a steak spud with bacon and an order of mozzarella sticks. All of the food came out tasting very good and both meals were very filling. I wished the fried foods (fries and mozz sticks) were a little more cooked as they were a little soggy and soft. I love the hot wing spud, it's best baked potato I've ever had! It's a large potato topped with crispy chicken bites tossed in a spicy buffalo sauce, cheese and your choice of blue cheese or ranch. I choose both on the side, so the chicken wouldn't get soggy. The girl on the phone told me it was one of the most popular ones too. So apparently we both recommend it. Spud ranch has such a special place in my heart. I always say I'm going to get something different but I get the chicken fried steak spud almost every time. I find myself getting a craving for it. It's the only restaurant I care enough about to favor from. Sometimes I wish they would have the option for smaller/half potatoes for less price, because I can't eat a lot and they can get pretty pricy for me. It's also a fairly small restaurant so it's not great for sitting and eating with friends, so we usually get the spuds to go and take them home with us. If you think a baked potato wont fill you up, you'll be sorely mistaken here. Spud Ranch is more than just plain ol' baked potatoes. You can order it a number or different ways, from the Parmesan Spud to the Mac'n'Spud, Hot Wings or Fajita meat. I usually treat myself to an Original, with butter, cheese, sour cream, chives, and bacon, but I've ventured out into meatier pastures. Be careful though, if you get something with breaded chicken, such as the Parmesan Spud! Its delicious, but I'm always so excited to eat that I end up burning the roof of my mouth! If you get the Mac Spud, be sure to ask for extra cheese because they can get a little stingy with it. (Not a necessarily healthy option, but delicious nonetheless.) If potatoes aren't your style, they have sandwich options as well that come on thick slices of Texas Toast! I havent tried it, but a friend of mine got one (I'll update with which one later) and before I knew it, his basket was empty! He said he loved the french fries as well. And if you think you have the stomach for it, there are a number of appetizers. I'm partial to the fried mushrooms. The batter they use isn't greasy and just has this good home taste to it. They're served hot though, so let them cool down before you bite into them (trust me, I know!). I've heard good things about the fried okra as well and the fried jalapenos. Problems? It's not necessarily expensive, but if you're strapped for cash, you might think of going elsewhere. Granted, one spud will usually last me for lunch and then plenty of leftovers for dinner, but still. The more thats in your spud, the more it'll cost. For a cheap but stuffed option, go with the Original. They always have a Special of the Day though, so be sure to check!! Its usually worth it. Atmosphere: VERY small space. I'd usually go with take out. It is very cute though. Lots of cowboy stuff and some novelty Mr. Potato Heads. Service: Friendly, but delivery is long. 45 minutes to 1.25 hours just for one potato. Oh my goodness. This place was SO incredibly good. The bf and I had Spud Ranch for dinner last night and it totally hit the spot. He got a Chicken & Broccoli Spud and I got a Spicy Chicken Fried Chicken spud which also had cheddar cheese and ranch on it. We didn't even talk to each other while we were eating because they were so good. They have so many different types of spuds on their menu and you really can't go wrong with either one of them. If you don't like potatoes, they also have sandwiches and appetizers on their menu as well. We got ours to go last night so I can't really speak much to the ambiance of the place, but who cares when the food is this good? Minus one star because they are closed on Sunday and they only have one phone line so its a huge pain to call because you're almost always going to get a busy signal from the other end.
