I always come here for the hot wing potato, today i decided to order online since i would be in a hurry and needed my food at a specific time. My order was set to be picked up at 12:30. Upon my arrival at 12:35 i was told by the cashier that my order was in fact not ready. My order was not ready until 12:48 and then i was not given extra butter or extra cheese like i asked. Wonderful place to get some great food. The spuds are AH-mazing! I'm pretty classic but the steak spud and frito pie spud are great. They even have a good salad with very few lettuce ribs (the hard part close to the core-yuck) very well priced for the amount of food you purchase. Four stars because the waitress was a little sullen faced, and I think the potatoes could be fluffier. Despite that, the selection of toppings was really great and will suit any tastebud, it's also nice to have an alternative lunch option in San Marcos that's not sandwiches or burgers. I've been to this place several times. Twice for spuds and one for a salad. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu in my opinion. You will always, always get full of of anything you buy. Went here for lunch today. I was so excited to see the sign that said they were voted best potato last year. After eating the BBQ potato I'm wondering if maybe they were the only potato choice. The BBQ potato was very disappointing to say the least. The meat tasted like it came from a can. The rest of the potato was dry and overcooked. Excellent food. Terrible phone service. I have been eating from here for years and they can't seem to figure out how to hire people to answer the phone. There has been times where they put me "On hold" and I can hear the ladies talk about plans on going out drinking, or flirting with a customer, even talking about how they hate the manager. I thought I had great baked potatoes before, but these are hands down the best baked potatoes you will ever eat. Great food at great prices. Great service as well. This place has great food! I've tried 6-7 different kinds of potatoes here, and they're all pretty excellent. My top favorites are the chicken fried chicken spud and the macaroni and cheese spud. Every time I get either, they're huge enough that I get two meals out of it. Also, their sweet tea is pretty good, too. I ordered from their delivery service for the first time last night, and it came quicker than the 45 minutes I was told it would take, which was nice. My food was hot and fresh, and the delivery driver was super sweet! The woman who took my order over the phone was also very nice. The restaurant is a little small, and it doesn't have much seating, but the workers there are always friendly. I highly recommend this place. read more

The most unhealthiest place I've ever been in but if you're not on a diet, want delicious and cheap food then this is the place! This is a small hole in the wall eatery that usually has 80s music playing and have cool things hanging on the walls and a lot of bobs burger influence, it's a chill ambiance. Now to the food, the most expensive thing their would be around $9-10 most of the potatoes are around $7-8 and they are all MASSIVE portions, creative and really tasty. You can get Mexican,Texmex, Italian, American and even Asian within a potato. I recently had my first visit to Spud ranch which from what I heard is a very good place but my expectations were not met by far. I think my experience was altogether unpleasant due to the girl that was working that day. My boyfriend and I decided to eat lunch here and when we approached the register to order the cashier did not say hi or even bother to make eye contact, she was very short with us and seemed inconvenienced by our presence. When she brought out our order she basically flopped them on the table and said "enjoy" and immediately walked away, so rude! On the other hand the baked potatoes we had were very good and very filling, if we happen to eat Spud Ranch again we are taking it to go for sure! read more

Decided I'd try this place out for dinner last night and was nothing short of pleased. I went at around 9 pm on a Friday night and the service was timely, friendly, all the while keeping the bill under a modest $10. The food was warm and my chicken fried steak potato was delicious with an even ratio of meat, cheese, bacon, and cream cheese. This place is great if you're looking for a quick pick up meal to take home (20 mins) usually or a dine-in. We were behind several people and expected to wait a bit. We ordered and took a seat.it was about 20 minutes to get our food, again, no big deal.
