The meat is seasoned and hits the spot every time - it doesn't matter what meat you get because it is all great! Tons of variation on their menu. I get the bowls with rice and lettuce a plus every topping under the sun and garlic/harissa sauce. Chicken is great, beef is great, and I could eat their falafel all day. I love getting the bowls with their various pickled veggies for the contrast in tastes. Dolma is delicious, the kebabs are delicious, the fries loaded with deliciousness are in fact delicious, and the prices for all dishes are very reasonable. Food can take a little longer, but only because the food is cooked fresh to order and not sitting in a metal container overcooking. Their pitas are stuffed to a brim with toppings and meat, and I could eat their hummus all day every day. Every time we come to San Marcos I have to try to force myself to try something new - it's hard, but we always find ourselves back at Halal Project happily full every time.

The veggies were, as always, beautiful and fresh. Halfway through I did remark to Mr R that Halal Project definitely has more flavor than Taziki, and he agreed. It did take a little longer than expected (mostly noticeable bc it's a day we had a plane to catch) but not outrageous and the results were indisputably worth it. Love to whoever wrapped these gyros sturdily enough to make eating them in the car NOT a complete disaster; we will continue to enjoy this local delight.

My absolute favorite dish is the fried fish and chips--perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. It's honestly one of the best versions I've had anywhere. On my most recent visit, I also tried the lettuce tacos, which seem to be really popular there right now. The moment I took my first bite I fell in love with the flavor. They were fresh, light, and packed with amazing taste. I ended up eating the whole thing right away because they were just that good. I also ordered the fried dill pickles, which are another personal favorite of mine. They were perfectly fried and full of flavor. One thing I've noticed every time I visit is that the restaurant is always busy, which says a lot. It's clear that many people love their Mediterranean menu, and after eating here multiple times, I completely understand why. I also enjoyed sitting outside at the Hill Country Galleria--it's a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy your meal. I highly recommend Artemis Mediterranean Grill if you're in the area. The food is delicious, the menu has something for everyone, and it's definitely a place I'll keep coming back to.

Seemed like she was the only one working there. It was freezing. There was a couple I clocked at another table. Didn't think anything of it. We were so cold (asked our server if the temp could be adjusted and she said she'd ask) I went to my car and got my mom a jacket and my daughter and I shared a beach towel inside. On my way back in, the couple I'd seen were outside, and the guy saw what I was carrying and said, "we moved outside. It's an icebox in there!" It was 98 degrees outside. That was what they decided was better. Got a tomato and cucumber salad. Enormous pieces. Very bizarre. Like Game of Thrones for a giant pieces. Knife needed on every piece multiple times. Also the tomato was a colorless, flavorless cheap, giant basic tomato. No pretty grape tomatoes, or heirloom or anything. It was pricey. I brought it home to feed the deer. My daughter wanted fries and I was worried about how hot they'd be...no need! The place was so cold they chilled before we got them. And the space was nice; could do a nice happy hour there, except for the music. 80's rock. We ate in the freezing cold to "Final Countdown" and "Tom Sawyer". It was cold and a competition! Won't be back. Food was okay. Space was cold and ambiance was just stupid. If you want to spend 17 dollars on a plate, go elsewhere.

I was glad we were seated outside though because even though it was a warm evening, their fans were very effective creating a constant gentle breeze. The music enhanced the experience with a fun and upbeat vibe. I truly felt like was sitting at club/bar/restaurant during a cool summer night in Greece! Just incredible. The staff were also great! Friendly and accommodating from the time we checked in for our reservation. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with my gluten sensitivity! The food was delicious too. Shout out to the chefs! The village salad (also reminded me of a traditional Greek village salad) was refreshing, the hot honey halloumi was like nothing I have ever tasted before, I regret not ordering extra to-go!, the Lamb chops made me feel like we were celebrating Easter - the seasoning was spot on and cooked to perfection, the Lamb and beef kefta with rice was also tasty, but the lamb chops are the clear winner. Don't forget to get dessert! If you have a gluten sensitivity like me, you are safe with the Pistachio Panna Cotta. It was a flavor high I didn't want to end! Lol. But seriously, it was super delicious, sweet, and just the right portion. Also FYI: we shared every plate. It's the way to go there, and I'm glad our server recommended that we order everything up front and they simply bring it out as each plate is ready. (Except for dessert and drinks - order those at the appropriate times of course). Speaking of our server, Lauren S, she was on it!!! Not only was she able to serve us and other tables extremely well, there was also a very large party of around 15 people next to us that she also served. Yet she always seemed to be around when you needed her and always with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Shout out to Lauren!!! You were amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable. Can't wait to visit Aba again!

The indoor space flows nicely with the outdoors and feels trendy and polished without being overly formal. Parking is the typical South Congress challenge. There's access to the Music Lane underground garage (with a small validation discount from the restaurant) plus nearby paid lots and street options, but it can feel competitive and a bit chaotic, especially on busier evenings. Plan ahead or use rideshare if you can. Service was great--attentive and smooth throughout our meal with two adults and two kids. We ordered the whipped feta spread (excellent with the pistachios and oil; the house bread was a bit salty), Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly), grilled chicken kebabs, the shawarma-spiced steak frites, and the grilled Branzino. The Branzino was the clear star of the show--flavorful and well-executed. The chicken and steak were mediocre at best. For dessert we shared the sticky date cake, which had a nice crunch outside and was warm and moist inside. It's a bit pricey (we paid over $240 for the four of us), but the setting, strong service, and that excellent Branzino make it worthwhile. I'd definitely come back.

I decided to order a mini Persian feast: the beef koobideh with rice, doogh yogurt drink, and a saffron ice cream for dessert. This was my first time trying beef koobideh, and unfortunately, this just didn't seem to be very good. The meat itself was okay, decently cooked, and topped with quite a lot of some spice that I can't quite put my finger on. It was okay. The rice though, that is what really disappointed me. Persian rice is usually amazing, but this really didn't seem traditional and it had a strange taste to it. It also came with onion and a grilled tomato, both solid additions. Good portion though. The doogh yogurt drink wasn't homemade like I had hoped, but in all honesty, it still really hit the spot on a hot Austin day. Reasonable price. The saffron rice was also fairly disappointing. Large white chunks (clotted cream maybe? But they were pretty tasteless), gritty texture, not much flavor. Just not really worth it. All in all, a bit of a disappointing dinner in Austin. I'll have to look for a different Persian spot next time I'm in the area.

I've never been to Israel, but somehow it felt like we were there. I can't fully explain it. We ordered the hummus with the works and the falafel plate from the lunch menu. Incredible. We still can't stop talking about how good it was. The food was a solid 10/10. We have zero pictures because we were fully immersed in the experience. The best way I can describe it is love and peace in every bite. It felt like a baptism. Like we were close to Jesus.
