On that visit, Molly spent over an hour with me walking through stroller options, breaking down components, pricing out configurations, and answering every question with total clarity and confidence. Her knowledge is exceptional. She has specs memorized, understands the nuances between brands, and clearly knows what makes baby gear safe, functional, and worth the investment. More than that, her professionalism and patience stood out. She treated this like the major life decision it is, not just another transaction. This store has been a part of my parenting journey from the very beginning over three and a half years ago, and I am endlessly grateful for the guidance, expertise, and care they provide. We love Sprout SF and specifically wanted to leave a review for the Mill Valley store as we were here for the weekend and came to this location. We came in to look at travel strollers with our 9 month old and dog. Molly was incredibly helpful (and patient) with us as we tested three different strollers with our baby crawling around and fussing. I can't say enough wonderful things about this amazing boutique and the incredibly knowledgeable staff who work there. My husband and I went in on a Sunday after trying strollers at a big box store (total disaster) and in desperate need of someone to just give us a no nonsense explanation of the different options available, pros/cons etc. We are both older, first time parents (41 and 49) and have spent more time than is healthy on the internet trying to research the available products. We should have saved the time and just headed to Sprout. I mentioned we dropped in on a Sunday and the shop was fairly busy, yet one of their staff spent a solid 30 minutes walking us through the strollers and car seats and gave us a completely candid review of what worked, what didn't, what was worth the money and what wasn't. She is a mom and also nannies and, frankly, by the end of the 30 minutes she had given us more tactical and pragmatic information about child rearing than all the research combined. She was amazing! Her coworker was helping another couple who were equally clueless and, in the little I overheard of their interactions, the coworker was equally brilliant, informative and helpful. Never did we feel rushed or like we were being "sold" to. We left knowing exactly what stroller and car seat we wanted and while we didn't buy it that day (it's still a little early) we will absolutely be going back to this store for the purchase. I don't like to leave negative reviews, so I'll keep this short. I went into the shop, which I've previously loved/raved about, and the sales associate asked if I had any questions. As a FT mom, 4m pregnant, I know very little and decided to engage further about strollers and popular choices or features. I was immediately met with an aggressive and unsupportive "well depends what you want". End of sentence. Being curious for more information on all the options I continued the conversation while the associate spoke very loudly at me in a harsh tone. It was clear she wasn't very warm or patient. Her answers were extremely demeaning-- as though I should already know these things about the 50 stroller options that all look entirely the same. Understandably we all have rough days, I myself left feeling stupid, awful, and very emotional. It was not the informative experience I was hoping for as a new mother looking for advise from a well established baby store. Nonetheless, I was extremely disappointed with this sales associates lack of kindness and service. Though I don't plan on boycotting the store, I do think this associates behavior should be brought to the owners attention. read more

What a wonderful store!! All the baby's clothes and bedding were purchased from Sprouts by my son and d-i-l, but the car seat was not. Sprouts was so accommodating that their car seat expert installed the car seat for them to make sure it was done correctly at no charge. Not only that, but an infant insert was needed for the car seat and Sprouts is lending them one at no charge until they can purchase one! I rarely write reviews anymore, but Sprout Mill Valley definitely deserves one! I've shopped here for many years and have had continually excellent customer service from all the employees over time, but lately especially from Molly who is one of the managers in the Mill Valley store and is exceedingly kind, knowledgable, and patient. She knows every in and out of every piece of gear and can guide you to what you need/want without the confusion of drowning in online research. They have a wonderfully curated collection of books and small toys which are very inclusive and diverse and are often things you wouldn't find elsewhere. My favorite are letter block sets but not just in English, they carry Arabic, Hebrew, Spanish, German etc. and as a multi-ethnic-lingual family this is so appreciated. Sprout is my go-to place to find gifts for pregnancy/babies/toddlers (alas they don't carry things for older kids, but for that I go to Tantrum down the street) and it's always a pleasure to shop locally especially when the people are so amazingly lovely! read more

Totally saved by Molly at the MV location. We just hit our third trimester and hadn't started our research yet. We were just starting to feel anxious -- then Molly immediately resolved our angst. It was clear she was incredibly informed, experienced, honest and invested in our parenting experience. She took a great deal of time with us to explain strollers vs car seats vs bassinets (you get the idea). After realizing the wealth of knowledge she had, we scheduled a follow up 1hr consultation with her to go section by section in the store. We looked forward to this appointment for two weeks. It was everything we thought. We left feeling so prepared -- something we didn't think was initially possible -- and that a load had been lifted. We feel great about all our choices and purchases. I want to love Sprout because the clothes are so cute, they have a great selection of must-haves and in general, you can find what you're looking for. All that to say, are they EVER open?! They erroneously close all the time. I have quite literally tried to go in 6 times in the 8 weeks I've lived in Mill Valley only to find them closed--and no, it's not on mondays or tuesdays when they are clearly closed. I'm talking about Saturday's and Sundays. Random wednesdays. It's really challenging to support a business that is so lax and unprofessional with its random hours of operation. So I was in this store on Saturday. I have been in before and have purchased before. It has always felt soulless and maybe on the verge of closing however that has not prevented me from shopping there. My last visit though has sealed the deal. I will never go back ...why? I was struck by the callousness of the decision to put felt animals' heads on the walls of a childrens store that are direct depictions of hunting trophies. I turned to my friend and mentioned my surprise and she said she felt very uncomfortable that they were that unconscious. I decided to engage the woman behind the counter about it, non defensively, and she responded to me in the most abrasive way. I was so surprised and realized that not only could she not wake up to the fact that this decor could be offensive but then she went on the attack. Im sure she will flag this and it will be removed because it technically is not about a point of sale however I do hope that we start to get, as a society, that such things are not good for our children, animals, the need we have to raise kids that will steward the earth and not hunt it...and if you like hunting of animals that come we can breed in farms, ok, but she has elephant heads on her wall. Stopped by after lunch at Sol Food to get a gift for a friend. This is a really cute store. I ended up buying a really cute onesie but I won't post a picture until I give it to my friend. They have adorable clothes for babies and toddlers and it wasn't hard for me to find a gift. I had to stop myself from buying a bunch of stuff even though I don't have a baby! They also have cute art that you can buy. I bought a cute SF inspired wood print for my house. They also have cute animal or plane themed framed art that I would love to buy one day when I have a room to decorate. They even have classes for babies! When I walked in, there was a music class and they babies were having fun listening to the songs. It was a larger store than it looks from the outside. read more

Cute store, with cute items! Helpful employee and a play area for kids! A lil pricey for the products, but still a cute place to shop and hang out for a good 10 minutes in the play area. Really clean changing area for the baby. I came here last weekend to sight see, because Mill Valley was having their Winterfest (free food, crafts and cocoa). The manager at SPROUT went above and beyond with helping me to find the best organic baby gear. I ordered a portable crib for my baby and the mattresses were back ordered. Knowing that I was almost due, she proactively called competitive stores and was able to find one for me. AMAZING customer service. She cared more about helping me then the revenue and by doing so gained a customer for life. I'm obsessive about buying organic safe products and it's so relaxing to shop here and know that someone else has done the homework for me and I don't need to read labels and google every product. I went there today with my little daughter she got $100 bill from grandma. She wanted to buy the stacking rainbow. We saw it, it was there. Over priced at $82 as I have seen it online close to 50 but whatever. As we walked in, we were greeted by the younger lady, very pleasant lady. We started walking towards the register to complete the purchase. Suddenly, an old woman, gets up and says to my daughter " you cannot go into the tents with your shoes on". Mind you, my daughter was walking in a straight line going to the register, had no interest in the tents or anything else... When she said that, my daughter looked at the tents, and the old woman repeated again! Don't go into the tents. At this moment, I put the stacking rainbow back, took my daughters hand and stormed out of that hell! The nice young lady still said goodbye very politely.. Is the old woman the owner? There is no other explanation for someone so Rude and vulgar to be working in a mill valley store unless they own it!! I feel bad for the younger nice lady! Working with someone like that. Will never go there again, will definitely spend my money elsewhere.. Will warn all the mamas at the Marin mama group about it. read more

I always have a great time shopping here so I thought I'd finally write a review (I'm officially a yelper now!!) Their selection of organic clothing is top notch (although can be pricey). The store is always so clean and beautifully merchandised. I especially enjoy their personal care products. I have super sensitive skin and I have found products that work great for me here. Who says you have to use baby lotion on just babies. ;) I have gotten friendly with the staff and I feel so welcomed everytime I step in. Always my go to shop for baby gifts. What rude customer service. We went in buy a Bumbleride stroller and a Nuna car seat and I got literally scolded for looking at the features and trying to determine if these items were right for us. The sales associate, who knew nothing about the items beyond the color options really soured the experience. Forgot supporting this local store. I traveled to this location in search for a specific organic wool blanket that I'd researched online. I walked in and was greeted by the nicest person I've met in the bay area. The store is super clean and they carry high quality products. Clearly, some of the best, the smartest, non-toxic products of any child store I've been to. Did I mention, non-toxic. Do you know how hard it is to find an organic wool comforter?! Sadly, we learned that the size I was after wasn't carried in the store. I was so disappointed as this product is nearly impossible to find in any other store and I'd travelled over an hour to obtain it. Whitney then offered to order the blanket AND helped on the shipping cost because she knew I'd travelled over an hour to visit the store. I recieved the blanket PLUS Whitney emailed and called following up on it. It was the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. Because of this, and the amazing (and ADORABLE) selection of products, I'll continue to shop at Sprout (Mill Valley) and will make a point to shop at their sister store when we relocate back to Brooklyn. read more
