This store might be a drama magnet, but it also has a really great array of magnetic toys -- so I declare 5 stars. Toy Crazy was the second toy store I walked into today on my quest to find a magnetic toy for the "well under 3" crowd called Stick-O. Mr. Baby was gifted a small set and LOVES THEM, but I've never seen Stick-O in stores... and woe is me (woe is he!), I forgot his set at home when we traveled to Marin. Toy Crazy doesn't actually have Stick-O, but they do have an *extremely* similar toy called "Smartmax" -- big, three-dimensional pieces with magnets that flip around inside, so that 15-month-old Mr. Baby doesn't get frustrated because he doesn't (yet) understand magnetic polarity. They also have a whole bunch of Magnatiles and Magformers, and possibly some other magnet toys. Small store, lots of magnets. A+. Having read all the previous reviews, I was bracing to encounter an unpleasant, possibly child-hating older woman with short curly hair, but all we found behind the counter were two younger teenagers -- and a security guard, because apparently someone's dissatisfaction with the "exchange or store credit only, no cash refunds" policy had gotten WAY out of hand. There was a snarky grandmother standing way too close -- blocking the exit from the behind-counter area, harassing the teenagers, and refusing to let it go; there was an anxious mother coming unglued in all directions -- "Stop engaging!" to her mother, loudly imploring her preschool-age daughter to pick something, "So that we never have to come back here!" (as if the store were the scene of a gruesome accident), and patronizingly lecturing the teenagers to "Consider who you work for!" Perhaps the piece de resistance was another older woman who didn't seem to be related to any of these people, but had taken up the cause of the tri-generational Your Policies Don't Apply To Me posse and, having escalated to the point of being asked to leave by the security guard, stood outside shouting at passers-by about the epic injustice occurring within the toy store. "This is not what we do in Marin!!" she declared, and with great indignation. Look, I'll be honest: I was thinking about a four-star review. The downside to an impressive inventory in a small space is that, toy store or not, this didn't really feel like a place where I should take Mr. Baby off my back and turn him loose to go be a kid. That said, I can't emphasize enough how much I *just. can. not.* with the level of privilege & entitlement on display from the other adults in the store when I walked in. Yes, okay, they wanted a cash refund for whatever they'd returned. But I'll tell you: I bought those pseudo- Stick-O sets, & the return policy is right there at the bottom of the receipt. Like I tell Mr. Baby, "All feelings are okay; not all actions are okay." I get that these folks were disappointed, AND there's no call for taking out their disappointment on a pair of kids who are just working their summer jobs -- or so dramatically broadcasting distress about trying to use exactly $14 in remaining credit (without spending a cent more). So, hey: Baby magnet toys *and* not breaking down screaming at "This is not what we do in Marin" customers? Yeah, that's 5-stars-able. read more

I come here to pick up the majority of my birthday presents and they have complimentary wrapping. Over the weekend my friend bought a beautiful and expensive toy tractor for her two year old grandson..it was defective and she returned it immediately. There was zero help, service but offensive and bullying attitude towards my friend.All she wanted was a new toy or a refund as she had just purchased the item. There are always exceptions to rules and this should have been one of them..she was confused about how Toy Crazy was going to resolve this while Toy Crazy actually called security. The offensive reactions from Toy Crazy were so extreme a bystander video taped the incident..thank you sensitive onlooker, as I hope it goes viral and people see how deplorable Toy Crazy treated my friend! Shame on you Toy Crazy and I'll be sure to tell every parent I know to boycott your overpriced store! read more

My husband and I just had the best experience at Toy Crazy. We went into the store with our infant and very enthusiastic three-year-old. Anyone who has attempted to maneuver around a retail store with a toddler and giant stroller knows the struggle of trying to keep one child sleeping and the other one from taking down displays and wreaking havoc. Thankfully, my mom anxiety subsided because of the kindness of the store's manager, Randy. She allowed my little guy to explore with the cute shopping cart and engaged him with all sorts of questions, which not only made him feel very special and but also allows us parents to get our shopping done, in comfort. Booooooo get with the 21st century. We went in to purchase a babydoll and while they had an entire wall of dolls - all the dolls were white skinned w. blonde hair and/or blue eyes. we live in the bay area and it's 2018 - how about some baby dolls that represent the diverse kiddos that will be playing with them. I asked the saleswoman if there were any other dolls with brown skin, an older woman with short curly hair, and she answered defensively with a brusque - 'what we have out is what we have.' there are plenty of other wonderful toy stores in the area to patronize. read more

Could not believe the unprofessional service received here. It seems as if the worker was annoyed to work in a toy store. Constantly following behind us and over our shoulders. Lady we're not thieves and if you don't want children touching the display toys than maybe you should have any. I was not the only one annoyed with this lady's annoying service. I'm glad a dad said something to her about the remarks she was making around the store. I refuse to do any business going forward with this place. I love this store so much! The owner is super friendly, no pressure to buy anything and the store has a great variety of toys. They have classic and good quality toys. We went in to browse and walked out having bought a gift for a baby shower and an adorable handmade stuffed mouse for my baby. I would recommend this place for gifts- they do beautiful gift wrapping, and I'd much prefer to give them my money instead of Amazon!! Perhaps the staff has changed from previous, older reviews, but my son and I had a wonderful experience. It was our first time trekking over to the Marin Country Mary from the city and we found this this toy store to be delightful. The owner was warm, welcoming and charming. My son happily played at the train table in front while I perused. There was no pressure to purchase, this was right after the holidays and although I was just window shopping I found a beautiful, nostalgic bell for my son's bicycle. Toy Crazy is a cute Toy store in the Marin Country Mart outdoor shopping mall. They have display toys to play with throughout the store and magnet building blocks on a children's picnic table outside. I like how they carried environmental toys "Green Toys," as well. We could have easily spent another half hour there. The two ladies who worked there were very kind and wrapped the present in unicorn wrapping paper for me. My daughter and I were thrilled to see Toy Crazy had opened its doors at the Marin Country Mart a couple of weekends ago. We love to wander through that center and check out the turtles, fish, ducks, we love to ride the rides and have some ice cream too. Imagine our delight to find a fantastic toy store too! The shop is loaded with all kinds of amazing items, some lines of toys I hadn't heard off, and with a 3.5 year old, I thought I was in-the-know when it came to toys stores in Marin. Very reasonably priced, the owner was manning the counter, Melissa, and she was so kind and so friendly. The gift wrapping service was super awesome and they even deliver locally! It's a perfect addition to what's turning out to be one of the most kiddo friendly centers in Marin. Go now and be ready to be WOWED!! read more

Super cute store with an abundance of cool toys! Toys are literally stacked from the floor to the ceiling, in every corner. What kid or adult would not want to check out this toy store? The staff is really nice and helpful. On my recent visit the staff member was so eager to show us some cool toys that we've never seen nor played with before. Really adored her warm, enthusiastic, & by no means overwhelming approach. They have a tv & a couple of bean bags in the back for the kids (or adults) to hang out. There are some items (like the bubble wands) that you could probably get cheaper else where but other than that the prices here are pretty fair! read more

Best store ever, the manager is the best and the employees really friendly, sometimes I read the bad reviews, but I have seen also parents how they let kids go wild, or just wanting attention from parents while they are just in their phones or talking like in a coffee shop or worst like if it was the daycare haha and they just try to make their jobs, and maintain neat the store because other kids will come. they provided me with excellent suggestions of toys for what I was looking. The white short haired lady at the cash register was very condescending and disrespectful to me and my friend. We kind of ignored her at the time thinking she is probably a grumpy old lady. However, in hindsight, there was no excuse for her rude behavior. By the way, I have a 7 year old and this used to be our go-to place for her birthday gifts for friends since they do free gift wrapping. I know you don't need a doctorate in advanced quantum physics to run a toy shop, however I think she surely needs a lesson in politeness. I wish they cared more about their reputation and showed more appreciation to their customers :(( read more

If you don't like kids please do not operate a toy store. Most uncool employees towards kids in any toy store I have ever been in. Militant about not letting young teens in without parents. Kicks out kids after they bought things because "it's policy that once your purchase is complete you have to go". In short everyone here seems to just hate kids in general. This is such a cute shop! Yes things are a little more expensive than say Amazon, but not outrageously expensive and the service and choice is fantastic. They have so much great stuff and the friendly staff have a wealth of advice should you need it. I love just browsing in here and my daughter would spend all day playing in here if I let her. Not sure if the owner or manager (heavy set middle aged woman with short curly hair) HOVERED over our kids while stomping around to put back any little thing they misplaced. The kids were just showing us what they wanted us to get them. We get the need to keep them contained and they really were not acting up too badly considering the excitement of being in a toy store.We felt unwelcome despite the fact we actually ended up an overpriced gift there. I could net wait to get us out of that stifling environment. A toy store is not the place I expected our kids to be treated so poorly. I went in expecting to spend several hundred dollars on a special shopping day with my grandchildren. Unfortunately for this less then kid friendly toy store I left empty handed. The clerk at the front, Curley haired older woman, made rude and unnecessary remarks about my grandson who just happened at that moment to soil his diaper. In addition this "clerk with an attitude" followed us around breathing down our back either making sure we didn't touch or steal anything. Worst shopping experience ever! I visited this store several times in the past and had pleasant experiences, until today... A friend and I took our kids there today. The kids checked out the toys for a little while as kids do at toy stores - nothing crazy. My friend decided to buy something for her daughter. As they were checking out, her daughter picked up a toy from one of the bins in front of the register just to check it out and the woman at the register asked her to return it... As she finished their transaction, the woman said "Now get them out of here". And then she followed us out of the store and shut the door behind us. The attitude is not acceptable by any measure. I made several purchases at this store in the past and now I regret having made them. Going forward we will not set a foot in this store, let alone making a purchase and we will both take our business to another toy store where the employees are friendly, happy to have potential customers in the store and don't treat their customers as potential thieves... read more

This charming little toy store is my go-to place for birthday presents. When I first started coming here several months ago, I was expecting it to be expensive and exclusive based on the upscale merchants at Marin Country Mart. Boy was I wrong! I am consistently impressed by how warm and welcoming the staff are that work there and the impressive selection of toys in all price ranges and for all age groups. When I went in yesterday they were quite busy with holiday shoppers but the store manager sought me out to see if I needed any help. I did need help as I was buying 4 birthday gifts for various ages and genders. She had spot on suggestions for me and all items were in the $15-$18 price range that I was looking for. While my kids happily watched Toy Story on their flat screen tv, the staff wrapped my gifts in such a pretty and eye-catching way, free of charge. Thank you Toy Crazy for making my toy shopping so easy and pleasant. I will always go here first when shopping for toys. read more
