This store was so fun to shop around in. They have tons of different old school games, like twister, that took me back to my childhood. They have something for everyone in here. They have lots of toys, stuffed animals, games and puzzles. I had fun talking with the shop owner. We were both reminiscing back to a time we could actual play the game twister, with ease. The is a cute little toy store along Bridgeway in Sausalito. They have a nice variety of offerings including a range of board games, animal figures including mystical creatures like dragons and unicorns, puppets, stuffed animals, books, and plenty of unique gifts. My favorite part was the collection of stickers on display. I ended up purchasing an adorable suatelier mustache sticker set, which included much more than mustaches... bunny ears, top hats, musical notes, and more. Love the artwork. A kids game store in Sausalito. Very much aimed at the preteen and younger crowd. However, they do carry the Klutz Rocks and Minerals Kit that I have not seen before. Walked through and saw some interesting games ranging from classic to modern. big to tiny things (they have tiny dice) ended up getting some fun stickers for $3.50 each! I'm immediately drawn to any spot that has the word "Games" in it so when I was passing by to grab some ice cream, I instantly knew I had to stop by to see what this place had to offer. The store front has a variety of stuffed animals displayed and you can see inside there are aisles of fun gadgets to browse through. I walked in and the first thing I see is a shelf with San Francisco-related children's books, which I thought was cool and special since we're just across from SF. It's nice to see local stores supporting and carrying books that young children can read about at an early age. This store carries Dowdle puzzles, cute stuffed animals, knick-knacks, books, children toys, paper dolls, mini building blocks, shirts, games, and countless other touristy items. It's a great spot to pick up something local to the Bay Area or Sausalito. You can spend a good 20-30 minutes (without children) and more with! Such a fun spot amidst all the chicy boutiques in Sausalito. The owner of this spot also owns the Sausalito Ferry Co. across the road. I didn't explore all of the store, but if you have to get a gift for a child (preferably a girl) between the ages of 5 - 13 or so, this is the place to come. For starters, they have a huge selection of those Japanese oh-so-kawaii erasers. At $1.25 each, it won't set you back much. They also stock those trendy silicon bracelets, Silly Bandz, that come in assorted colors and different themes. The latest themes are: dinosaurs, summer, zoo animals, letters, etc. You know the ones that have been in the news lately and are being banned slowly throughout the school district? Yeah, those ones. There are the usual pens, pencils, smencils (scented pencils in tubes), little tchotchkes, etc. If I came here 30 years ago, I would have gone absolutely wild with consumer joy. read more

I know I need poker chips in a matter of hours. It's not a usual circumstance that I've got a deadline with an odd need. I usually have my car packed with a variety of unnecessary items that many ask, "So what do you really need all of that with you at all times for?". I'm that person that has the bizzarre accoutrement in order to satiate whims of my crew around me. Tonight is game nice though, and that means it's not going to be for kids. We may break out the Boggle, maybe the Pictionary or Solar Quest, but I will be coming with poker chips, in order to play the big boys game of blackjack. We're not messing around with blackjack, we're serious. My Vegas crew and I are all about it. Sitting at the tables for hours and hours at times we've begun to be famous at doubling down on twelve, hitting seventeen, and even staying on fourteen sometimes, and winning. That's the key operative part of the sentence, WINNING. Games People Play is located in Sausalito, tourist land if you ask me, and there are very few times where I'm willing to fight for parking and deal with that sort of drama. But today, I'm on a mission. The store is absolutely packed, and I mean packed, to the gills. I can't find anything in there and sometimes the staff can't either. The place is packed with an amazing amount of inventory, so I kinda can't blame them. They had my poker chips, which was perfect, and they were cheap, only about three bucks. When does three dollars either make you a ton of money, or give you hours upon hours of fabulous entertainment? Almost never. Maybe my Starbucks latte, as I wouldn't be able to function during the day without it, but otherwise nothing really comes to mind. They have all sorts of games there, for all different age groups. I almost picked up a few others just because they make me reminisce about childhood and the good times. You know, the days where we didn't have to pay a mortgage or work eighty hours a week. At least I know that everytime I need a bizarre or last minute game concept for "sunday rockstar game night" I know exactly where I'm headed, dreaded tourist land. I think I'll start running Sausalito shopping stops tandem, like I do in the city for to go food, that way I don't have to talk to anyone, I can sit in the car and doublepark and the mission will be accomplished in a matter of minutes. read more

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an archeologist and a professional board game player when I grew up. My father was always supportive of my dreams, so he equipped me with hand shovels and gloves, and spent countless hours playing board games with me. From Chutes and Ladders, to Candyland, and Sorry!, we played some competitive games, and formed some fantastic memories. Walking into Games People Play sent me back to a happy time when encountering Lord Licorice was my biggest problem. Living alone, I decided to get some single player games, so I bought Set and Tangoes, as well as some hologram cat playing cards for my crazy cat lady friend. The guy working there was super helpful with suggesting mind-bending single people games, and I love Set, though Tangoes was so frustrating for me that I wanted to stab my carotid artery with an oyster shucker. Only game here is madlibs. I searched everywhere looking for board games and didn't find anything. There were a few stacks of playing cards here and there but where are the rest of the games? I was expecting to find Lite-Brite, Candyland, Chutes & Ladders. Maybe I'm blind? I read the previous reviews and they all mention that this store is filled with all types of classic games. This place has the most incredible selection of Japanese erasers I've ever laid my eyes on! You know, the ones that come in the most ridiculously cute shapes and sizes (e.g., mini toothbrushes, mini foods, etc.) for $1.25 a piece. I was with others who were in a rush so I didn't get a chance to stock up on these goodies, but I was drooling over them and will certainly be back. a cute little toy store in cute little sausalito. a must for families with children. being a child at heart, now grown into the world of modern toys, i was surprised to see marbles! marbles were the original pokemon cards. at least for me, i imagined marbles to be the hearts of flying mythical creatures, that we had excavated, hence their designs inside. they have a lot of classic games that don't have the bells and whistles of modern technology. so, if you have a major appreciation for simplicity, or plain old nostalgia, this place will make your heart melt. marc out. read more

This is becoming a dying breed here: a game where I can browse games and such. It's too bad because I grew up loving board games, and back then the idea of a video system is the old Atari 2600. There is definitely not too many of these places left, it seems. Therefore, it's fun browsing here whenever I happen to be visiting this part of Sausalito. I would even give it the fifth star if only their board game selection for browsing was better. read more

There's a lot of hard-to-find games that draw a lot of folks in, as well as small toys and game accessories to peruse as well. Cool little gift shop with lots neat things to look at. Lots of stuffed animals and unique old school toys. The funniest thing about coming in here was a guy looking to buy something for his niece or daughter. He was asking if the employees had anything of some purple dinosaur that kids like. He had no idea of who Barney was! The employees said that they really don't have anything anymore as Barney is yesterday's news. I guess it's all about Yo Gabba Gabba now. read more

I think this is a really cute store. You can find all sorts of games and trinkets here and they have a whole sections dedicated to Sanrio characters (e.g. Hello Kitty) and Curious George. They also have tons of stickers and other fun stuff like themed playing cards (e.g. Tinkerbell and Disney princesses). They also gag gifts like fart powder, fake beer that makes water look like beer but taste like dishwater, snapping bubble gum and so much more!
