Great sound track on the day of my visit. The young man behind the counter was nice enough to write it down for me. The store has an eclectic collection of funky stuff you probably won't be able to live without. Prices are reasonable. There is a price point for everyone. Its so unique that its hard to put into words. Hopefully you will get a feel for it from my photographs. The captions give you a bit more specific info. You will definitely feel welcome there. Revolution 9 is such a cute shop! I stopped by yesterday for the first time in about ten years. It was nice to see how very little had changed in all the ways that matter. Going down the list: Attentive customer service? Check. Excellent selection of fun, nerdy, and political gifts? Check, check, and check! If you have Star Wars, Tolkien, Harry Potter, or Studio Ghibli fans in your life, Revolution 9 is a great place to shop for gifts. I got my fiancé a funny "Greetings from Tatooine" postcard and found a My Neighbor Totoro insulated lunch bag for myself. Most times, I just come in here to look around and I always want to buy something. Great place to just wander if you're trying to kill time or need entertainment before lunch or dinner. The staff are relaxed and quiet. You're probably not going to get a greeting when you walk in through the door, but if you have any questions or want to talk to them, they're more than happy to engage with customers. If you have extra time, hang out on the comfy old couches and watch whatever movie they're playing on the television. The owners also highlight youth talent from our community with art/activism displays, poetry readings, musical performances, and more. Revolution 9 has a back area of the store which features reptiles and small animals, (Pre and Post Pandemic) they offer kids drop off, which is run by the most imaginative and engaging family! As someone who loves to wander around Fairfax with no agenda, I find myself stopping by Revolution 9 quite a bit. Lately the clothes haven't been my style, but I still love their selection of cards, books, toys and stickers (I'm 27, FYI). Rev9 is also an art space and an event space for local youth, and I always enjoy looking at the artwork on the walls (usual by high school students from the area. This place is just cool. A lot of retro and political shirts with a rather large greeting card section that seemed to just be taking up space. A lot of imported stuff from Japan such as erasers shaped like day to day (in Japan) items such as a bento box full of food. Quite a few DVDs and random jewelery, not sure I've seen so much Tim Burton related merch in a single store so far. There is not a single shirt over a Large so those of us with shirt busting shoulders are out of luck. Plenty of belts and such for scene kids, in fact the girl that was working the register when I left looked dressed for an emo concert. Lot of stuff to just look through, I didn't actually buy anything as nothing peaked my interest but definitely a good time waster once in a while. read more

Based on merchandise, this place would be a 5, but unfortunately out of the 6 or so times I have been here we have never has much as gotten a hello or greeting when we walk in the door. Sound picky? Maybe, but every time I have come I feel an overall sense that they couldn't care less that I am there. Perhaps I am a "tween at heart," (yikes) but adults also love this store. It's anime-european-urban-design-pop-gift heaven. I find myself shopping here among actual tweens and their parents, who are the bulk spenders of this shop (to my immature surprise!) But I bought a very unique art book there about the merging of craft and fine art in the 21st century. It isn't one you'd see at a bargain bookstore; it was limited edition. I paid $40 which is the going rate for current and gorgeous tomes like that. I also bought a "Wonder Woman" lunchbox for a wonder woman colleague for about $18. The jewelry is more "affordable spectrum," and the occasional $5 t-shirt sale basket on sidewalk REALLY stops traffic, deservedly: from it I got a red t-shirt of the thinner, finer cotton, showing a pen & ink drawn CROW reading a book. I'll admit it: I live in Marin and as a result, have melded into the world of the yuppie. It is nothing I did consciously, but the fact is, I am white and well paid; so there you are. Luckily I live in Fairfax, so an ember of "stick-it-to-the-man" side can continue to quietly burn in good company. Revolution 9 feeds the punk-wanna-be side of me deliciously. Oh how the counter-culture-kitch abounds. It is perfectly designed for anyone to waste time basking in the liberal/artsy/goth culture. What a cute little shop, with friendly service. A great collection of little gifts, and I was really surprised at the great prices for a gift store in Marin. Love this store! I always find the perfect present, card, etc. and they have a great sale bin from time to time. I also have found some unique, eco-friendly clothing items here. Besides the fact that this is just a super fun store with some really cool trinkets, I want to share a story about their awesome customer service. I was in the store shopping when a woman came in to return an item for money back. The salesperson, Rachel, I believe, informed her that returns were for store credit only and that she was notified of this when she purchased the item. The customer wasn't hostile but was incredibly persistent about demanding her money back. Rachel was patient, kind, and understanding as the woman went on and on about - quite literally - her life story including her children, divorce, career and how she "desperately" needed the money from the return for her outfit to go Spain where she was going to finish her novel (I love Marin and a lot of its people but to demand money back on an item you purchased because you need a new outfit for Spain just is the epitome of yuppie, upper-class privilege) Rachel called her boss who wasn't picking up to see what she could do. She and the customer eventually agreed to get back in contact with each other about the return later on in the day after Rachel was able to touch base with her boss. She handled the situation perfectly. As someone who has been on the front-lines of customer service for ten years, I was impressed by her service. Great store, great employees. This was my second visit to this store and I (and now my hubby) just LOVE this store. The owner is very sweet and has great taste and it is the kind of store I can wander into and find plenty for me and also a zillion great things for gifts. Her stuff is across the board from Japanese kitsch to unique shirts and jewelry to cool bags, clothes, unique off the wall items that make you smile and more. Very worth the visit! There stuff is pretty cool, but their prices are painful. There is one woman who works(ed) there that was extremely unpleasant towards me. I was shopping for a gift for my friend, and out of no where she practically accused me of trying to steal something. She banned me from touching anything, and I quickly walked out of there. this place is great, it has a lot of good vibes and it's a great place for gifts or just to browse, it has a lot of quirky edgy trinkets and stuffed animals and had a very alternative feel. My only complaint is that most of its items are very over priced and expensive, this is understandable because a lot of the items are imported, but some of it is way too expensive. read more
