Wow. Sprinkles never fails to impress me. They're always so perfectly iced and presented nicely. I decided to grab a box for a friend's birthday and fell in love with their Christmas flavors. The gingerbread cupcake was moist and had the ideal ratio of gingerbread flavor to vanilla frosting. I would order this again in a heartbeat. I've never had a cupcake with a similar flavor and liked it almost even more than a gingerbread cookie. The chocolate peppermint cupcake is a crowd favorite. I wish they made this a full time flavor. The way the peppermint texture topping complements the rich flavor of the dark chocolate cake is incredible. Next time, I'm ordering more chocolate peppermint. The red velvet is always a hit. I received two of each of the gluten-free flavors, the red velvet as well as the lemon blueberry. I am a chocolate cupcake kind of girl so I definitely preferred the red velvet, however the lemon blueberry was very light refreshing however my only feedback is that they were probably too many blueberries so the cupcake was not very stable. I'm conflicted in my review of this place, I had really high hopes but I was definitely let down. I placed a pretty large $140 order for 31 cupcakes for my sons birthday. I actually cancelled my order from Georgetown cupcakes to try out this place, and I honestly wish I didn't. The customer service inside the store was great. The cupcakes were ready on time. The decorations were nice. But, there was an eyelash on a cupcake. Not just on top, but in the icing. They offered to refund that one cupcake but at that point I didn't want to eat the other ones with the same icing. The cupcakes themselves tasted basic. They were not moist, kind of dry? Ok, so the last time I went to Sprinkles Cupcakes, I got the Chocolate Marshmallow cupcake and I was not a fan. But lately, Georgetown Cupcake hasn't been doing it for me, Baked & Wired was just so-so, and Red Velvet-who? Cue the Dark Chocolate cupcake, which has restored my faith in the Sprinkles brand. The Belgian dark chocolate cake was moist, the chocolate frosting was chocolaty and light (not as heavy as cream cheese-based frostings). It's every chocolate lover's dream! I would definitely get it again. The employees who served me my cupcake and rung up my order were friendly. Sprinkles has a loyalty program and the cashier made sure that I got my loyalty points without prompting, which I appreciated (some places could care less if you get your loyalty points or not). My only gripe is that when I ordered my cupcake, I wanted to eat-in, but the place is so small and seating is limited (only two tables) that there was no other option but for me to get it to-go. I would have loved to get the full Sprinkles experience and eaten my cupcake there, at its peak. We had wonderful experiences with Sprinkles this year. We find their cupcakes to be superior to their competitors and their customer service is impeccable. In their cupcakes, Sprinkles achieves the perfect balance of rich, moist, springy, light cake that tastes decadent, but preserves the delicate yet coarse texture of a well-crafted cake. Their frosting, especially in comparison to their well-known competitors, is equally balanced--no cut-your-teeth sweetness or close approximations to something else. Just light, fluffy frosting with the right touch of sweet and essence of real flavor, properly proportioned to compliment, rather than distract. I also did a cookie taste test (self-professed cookie snob, here) and their chocolate chip cookie is the best bakeshop cookie I've had. It achieves a lot without trying to hard and has the perfect touch of salt to enhance the vanilla, chocolate, and butter you expect to taste in a good chocolate chip cookie. Finally, we would especially like to thank Sprinkles and their manager Matt for their help with our Diwali celebration this year. Covid forced us to ditch our annual get together, so we chose to take treats to our neighbors instead. Enter Matt who listened with sincere interest in our Diwali traditions and then patiently guided us through the options for delivering, in true Indian fashion, mini boxes of sweets (mini cupcakes) that were seasonally appropriate, beautifully presented, and utterly delicious (we made sure to have some extras for us)! Throughout, Matt was generous with his time and attention, making it a great experience for us.
