On a snowy winters day, I knew I needed a warm baked treat to keep me cozy. I typically come to Fine Sweet for their fresh lemonade but today I was swept away by their apple deserts and got both an apple danish and an apple strudel. Both were perfectly tasty and flaky. My friend got an assortment of cookies that all were heavenly and we enjoyed seeing their bakers in action behind the scenes. A staple and must-visit located within Eastern Market

Fast service even with a line. I loved all the options but went for the cinnamon bun. If you're item is under $5 they charge you 25cents to use a credit card which seems fair. Everything looked tasty and I'll be back. I sat outside by the food trucks but there's tons of seating outdoors in the sun.

    Caramel Apple Pie for $20

With so many decadent pastries and pies to choose from, I'm glad I bought the Caramel Apple Pie. It was fresh and baked that morning! Although it was a bit crumbly and loaded with crunchy walnuts, I enjoyed the apple filling. I wasn't a big fan of the Toll House Chocolate Chip cookie. I would skip it and save room for the pie! There are also a lot of great bakeries and cafes down the block and near Barrack's Row like Spring Mills Breads and Shouk. So if you're looking for a gourmet pastry, it's worth venturing out. Fine Sweets offers a larger variety and bulk quantity. It's great for grabbing a box of goodies to share and take home!

This was by far the most disappointing cupcake I have ever had in my life ! The cupcake was wasn't just the only thing for my one star but the customer service was also crappy. No greeting, no smile just you trying to figure out if your next and make your order. The cupcake tasted so fucking old so nasty my ten year old could make a better boxed cupcake and take over shop. This lemon cupcake tasted nothing like lemon, had a texture of weeks yes weeks plural weeks old texture. I'm not sure how they are open, none of the pastries looks all that appetizing but like it was made in someone's home kitchen. I'm not trying to bash so hard, but please go somewhere else. Better off going to Starbucks and getting a frozen pastry reheated. Complete disappointment

The owner, Jennifer G., rescued me one day when I needed something for a celebration. She wrapped up a small coconut cake in a study box with string, then double-bagged it (making sure it was balanced). When she's on the floor, expect good customer service. I enjoy their various muffins. The double chocolate is my fav, but pineapple-blueberry is also respectable. The big rack of day-old baked goods (off to the side) has some nice bargains.

Love this little bakery. Not the friendliest of service but made up for with the food. I had a mini almond croissant and chocolate one. Then a chocolate chip muffin $2.50 Loved everything. Wished later in the day I had time to get another pain au chocolate. Loved it.

Been searching for the best cannolis in DC and these are by far the one! The cream is delicious, only thing is I wish they filled it before they served so the shell would not get soggy. Did not try anything else but it all looked delicious!

I really really want to like this bakery more, but every product I've gotten here has been disappointing. The safest best is the half and half iced tea/lemonade and the tollhouse cookies sold by the pound. My friend pointed out the reason these cookies are consistently good is because they are the pre-made tollhouse cookie dough just scooped and baked. Nothing wrong with that since that's exactly how they're advertised, and good to know that's exactly what to expect! But in my experience, all of the other baked goods look much better than they taste. The price point for cupcakes and cookies isn't too bad, but the flavor and texture isn't worth it at all. I recently got a peach pastry that was hard on the edges, had no filling in the center, and was definitely made with canned peach pie filling. I'm sure I'll keep trying to find another winner since I'm such a frequent visitor of the market, so here's hoping I pick a good one!

Another DC institution! Wonderful little local place on the southern end of Eastern Market's South Hall. Fine Sweet Shop (last name of founder was actually Fine) has everything you need in a sweet shop: Fresh bread? check. Cupcakes(red velvet!), cookies(Hamantashen! black & white cookies!), and cakes in single servings, check. Pastries? Ice cream? Check. fresh lemonade and other assorted drinks? There's a whole range of smaller cakes (as low as $12) that you can pick up if you need one for a special occasion/present. In case it hasn't been expounded upon enough, love this little spot for how much variety they offer. I can vouch for the black and white cookies, although the cupcakes I've had have been a little dry. They also run out of their fresh bread rather quickly (nothing better than picking up ciabatte or a baguette after work for dinner, neh?) But the bread has always solidly delivered. And customer service has always been prompt and professional. More reasonably priced than a lot of the market, so 3.75 stars!

The owner should look up the law because she's way out of compliance: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/23-187), but charge a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, which you are required to. They basically give you no option to avoid paying a fee. (In response to the owner's response below: They have a sign that says NO CASH, so is a customer supposed to believe they'll accept cash IF the customer has exact change, as the owner says they will? And if they do accept that cash, then they would, in fact, have cash on hand anyway, which undercuts her claim they have no cash on hand...but they don't because they have a sign that says NO CASH. Every other business in the community doesn't blame the city for their own non-compliant policies, as the owner does, and accepts cash in the same circumstances. Plenty of places are happy to take cash and prefer it, and it is required by DC law. I was surprised to see this NO CASH sign after emailing with the owner about it *a year and a half ago.* I walked right out when I saw the sign.) They also now have a self-serve bar which invites the spread of things like norovirus. There are no sneeze guards. They make it hard for me to support them even though I really have been trying to for years.

The breakfast pretzel was served room temperature, eggs were not to my liking, but good flavor from the bacon and cheese. The pretzel itself self was dry and kinda flavorless. The salted pretzel had a soft interior and crusty exterior with nice salt flakes but didn't live up to my expectations. The pub cheese was a welcome purchase to polish off the pretzel. The sweet pretzel was the best from our order. Pretzel was still dry but the cinnamon sweet topping made the top enjoyable.
