Craving a good pretzel and The Pretzel Bakery has been on my To Go pre-COVID. SO and I arrived about 1.5 hour after opening and they were busy. Lots of patrons were picking up take-away and the in-person ordering line moved quickly. Definitely kid friendly with plenty in-door and out-door seating. We placed our order and waited to be called over the PA system. I'm not sure why they call you based on the items you ordered rather then the receipt number, but such is life. The breakfast pretzel was served room temperature, eggs were not to my liking, but good flavor from the bacon and cheese. The pretzel itself self was dry and kinda flavorless. The salted pretzel had a soft interior and crusty exterior with nice salt flakes but didn't live up to my expectations. The pub cheese was a welcome purchase to polish off the pretzel. Have gone here twice and will definitely go again (although not in a huge rush to do so). It's a very busy place but they seem to be as efficient as they can be. The Everything Pretzel wasn't too salty, but my favorite was the Sweet Pretzel. I thought the glaze would be overpoweringly sweet, but it was just the right level of sweetness and cinnamon intensity to not take away from the pretzel itself. This is my second time in to this bakery. My family and I were enjoying a short weekend trip to DC and this bakery was around the corner from where we were staying. The staff was very polite, worked quickly and courteous. Some items were being baked fresh and they notified me it would be a few mins wait and it was even shorter than that. The food itself is simple but delicious - what beats fresh pretzels?! We tried the pretzel dog and sweet pretzel one day and the egg sliders the next day. Friendly service. Located at the corner 15th and C street. Pretzel sliders are two for $7. My only regret was only getting one of them! Got the bacon, egg & cheese pretzel buns. Not sure what kind of cheese they use, but I love it. Wanted to stop by on Monday as well, but looks like they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Only open during day hours, but glad to see business is doing well as I saw lots of people hanging out at their outdoor seating. Their menu isn't too extensive, but the options are quite good. I ordered the Pretzel Dog and it was so good. I'm all about that everything seasoning! Not too salty and not too overwhelmingly seasoned. Simple classic size of a normal hot dog but prettier and tastier. Topped it off, with the Pretzel Bomb dessert. Overall, great lite bites, I'll definitely be back to try some of the other menu items like the Calzone. This is a nice little neighborhood spot to grab a breakfast sandwich or even just a snack! We swung by the other day to grab some breakfast sandwiches. There was a bench outside so our dog waited there. When I went inside, I was greeted by a really friendly young man who gave great service. He and some other people behind the counter moved very fast and had a good system down for getting people their drinks and food. The breakfast sandwiches were small but tasty. I prefer soft bacon and flavorful cheese (I believe they use sharp cheddar) so I loved it. My husband prefers a more toned down cheese and crispy bacon so he didn't love it as much. Stuff here is just a *tad* expensive. I am never one to shy away from pricier stuff, but willing to indulge at a moment's notice. Service is efficient and quick. The pretzels are like soft Philly pretzels. While I appreciate that the Original Pretzel wasn't too salty, it was a bit bland and something was missing. A touch of butter would have been nice. The Roasted Red Pepper Calzone loaded with cheese had a nice spicy kick! It was quite filling and preferred the Calzone over the Original Pretzel. I love fresh pretzels! So when I realized The Pretzel Bakery was just a quick little car ride away, I made sure to go out of my way to find it. The promise of a fresh baked pretzel as part of my breakfast sandwich experience had be giddy. I even went a little later in the morning on a Saturday to ensure that I had a strong appetite so that I could appreciate my sandwich even more. The good news is I was able to walk-in, line free, place my order and receive my breakfast sandwich in less than a minute after the transaction began. The bad news is that my sandwich was just a tad warmer than room temperature, so the pretzel roll was not as soft and the cheese was not even completely melted. While it wasn't bad, it definitely wasn't what I expected possibly because it was made prior to my arrival and had gone a little cold? That's the only explanation I can think of. Although I probably won't go out of my way again, I will definitely give it another shot if I'm in the neighborhood. Finally made it over here and I was NOT disappointed. They have a curated menu and everything is amazing. I love a slider and a pretzel bomb (can't say no to Nutella). Pretty good breakfast sandwiches but the service was kind of a miss when we went. We ordered ahead for pickup and got two breakfast sliders, which were probably an average size. These were pretty tasty, so I'd definitely order again. We placed an online order about 15-20 minutes before we arrived at the store and still had to wait about 20 minutes after that for our food. I think they were slammed that day but it was still a pretty long time to wait. I think this may have been an isolated incident, so I will come back and would love to try some of their other pretzels. read more

And then if you like Nutella, they have this thing called Pretzel bombs with Nutella inside and they are bomb dot com. If we go sometime after 11am then we could even get the pretzel dog and calzones cuz they're only available after 11am. So what time you wanna go? Of course they also have regular ol' pretzels and dipping sauces that you can snack on if you're not that hungry but the other options are so good, you can't start with a regular pretzel. So yeah, that's what I'd say. Something like that. That's not even including the drink options. The customer service and hospitality. One time I brought my bro here and he ordered everything on the menu. Another time, my husband and I came close to closing and the guys working the closing shift were so kind and not rushing us out. They let us enjoy our meal at our pace. Another time, brought my mother here who happens to love pumpkin flavor and it was during the fall season when there are pumpkin pretzel bombs. Hmmm what else? The prices are reasonable and my breakfast sandwiches and coffee were good, but certainly nothing unique in the flavor category. As for the space, it was limited due to how crowded it was inside and out and this made the queue area quite uncomfortable while waiting for your order. For the record, there's no other pretzel bakery in all of Washington, DC, but that doesn't matter because even if there were others, this one would be the BEST! It started out as a Hill East neighborhood joint and even though many travel from other parts of DC to enjoy it, it's still beloved in the neighborhood. They support local parent groups, have a community board and are active in the community. I've been a loyal fan from Day 1 when it was literally a walk up window a block from its current location. Back then they had a few homemade lemonades and just three different types of pretzels and three dips. All those exist (You can get three pretzel for $5 and I recommend the sweet pretzel or the regular with nutella or caramel mustard as a dipping sauce). Now they sell La Colombe coffee, craft beer, pretzel breakfast sliders, and something that will change your life- the pretzel bomb. Yes, I am going to devote an entire paragraph to the pretzel bomb. The straight up pretzel bomb is a pretzel hole with warm, melted nutella and cinnamon inside. On top, there's a warm glaze and just a kiss of salt. It's $2.50 for one and order three. Surprisingly, the plain pretzel was the worst thing we had here. The main reason was most likely a lack of heat, it was a pretty cold pretzel. The hotdog was wonderfully steamy with a unique mix of flavors from the everything pretzel bun it was encased within. The calzone was the ultimate star though- a wild amount cheese & pepperoni goodness. I wish we'd gotten a few of those!
