IF I COULD PUT NO STARS I WOULD! I purchased a slice of strawberry shortcake on Friday night, and placed in my refrigerator to eat on Saturday. When I took a bite out of the cake, I noticed that there was a layer of mold underneath the strawberries. I immediately spit the cake in my mouth out as I was disgusted... not to mention i am 4 months pregnant. I've been coming to this place for a few years now. If you are a fan of mall cookies, Heaven's Bakery is a very good go-to in Central PG County. Some prefer Iverson Mall cookies however if you've been to one mall cookie shop, you been to the all. This place is centrally located in Northern PG County and saves you a trip down to southern PG to Iverson Mall/ Heaven's Bakery cookies are always fresh, meaning, they haven't been sitting for longer than a day or so. They always offer to warm up your cookies in the microwave and they come out on the verge of falling apart in your hand which is a good indication of a homemade, fresh cookie. My favorite is butter crunch, any variety of chocolate chip and of course the PG County favorite, snickerdoodle. You certainly can purchase single cookies however it is customary to buy by the pound or fraction of a pound. Just so that I don't get too beside myself, I usually order a 1/4 pound which will last long enough for the car ride home. They have other desserts available like cake slices, brownies, cheesecakes and custom sheet cakes which I've only tried their sliced cake on a couple occasions. If I ever try their sheet cake or other desserts I will be more comfortable giving this place an overall 4 which I don't doubt they are worthy of. Try this place out. Thank you to Heaven's Bakery in Greenbelt for a fabulous custom cake for my friend's baby shower this past weekend. I shopped around for a few weeks before deciding on Heaven's. While our local grocer bakeries are wonderful, they all had the standard 'decorating' book that is mostly for sheet cakes and I was ready to shop at high end bakeries, which were truly above my budget. But, I wanted the cake to be the showpiece, then I remembered Heaven's Bakery at Beltway Plaza (they are famous for their delicious cookies, especially the snickerdoodles). I always liked their display cakes in the cases and decided to visit the bakery 2 weeks before the shower. After searching the books of photos, I decided on a small 2-tier cake, top chocolate layer and bottom vanilla layer. The size says it's for 40, but it really served 65 people (and I did not cut small slices). The price was right, way cheaper than their counterparts. My friend loves this little 'Chanel' baby image we found on Etsy. So I bought a downloadable copy for $4 and a beautiful ribbon from my local crafts store and asked the store if they could be incorporated into the design with our color hues. The final design was exquisite, and the cake itself was so moist and scrumptious. The icing was just right, not too sugary and not too bland. Awesome awesome spot for custom cakes and delicious treats!! For my birthday last year, I had a 1999s theme (when I was in high school).. and Daria was my favorite TV show then (and still now). So, we had a super unique request of doing a Daria Cake! They not only did very well with the decoration of the cake, but, also, the cake itself was soft and flavorful and the icing was PERFECT! Every so often when I find myself in Greenbelt, I venture over to Beltway Plaza to pick up snickerdoodles from Heaven's Bakery. The mini-sized cookies are soft and chewy with a bit of a crunch around the perimeter. They are absolutely delicious. I can't say much for their cakes as I only go for the cookies. Nestled on one of the inside corners near a main entrance of dilapidated Beltway Plaza Mall sits a run of the mill Pg Co mall bakery. In the display case sit airbrushed cakes to show off their handiwork and dozens of pastries. I can't speak to the quality of their cakes or pastries as I've never purchased them. But baybeeee lemme tell you about these snicker doodles!!!! I'm hooked. I always say consistently keeps me coming back to an establishment, and I've been coming here for years to get my fix. The cookies are airy, buttery, and light with the perfect balance of crisp and chew and a whisper of cinnamon. I also like their chocolate chunk cookies, they remind me of my toddler's little chunky little legs - thick and chocolatey! They say start with love, so I will. The cookies here are really good. I usually will get my new favorite snickerdoodle (Since discovering them @ Iverson Mall cookies) and a splash of chocolate chip. Everything here looks good. I just usually stick to cookies. I've had issues with the "elder" staff here and I've just had enough. So much that if I see certain people working I won't even bother. They are low energy, snappy, and have attitude. Long story short. I asked for half a pound and asked if it was possible if I could get some that appeared to just come out. When the sister treated me rude I asked her 3 times, isn't it important that you get to know the community you serve? Any good business man knows this, but she would rather be "right" and just kept saying "it depends." Silly, dumb child. So you make it obvious that you don't give a f_ck about the community but want to take our money. The way they talk down to people f color is disgusting. Amazing!!! I was nervous looking for a bakery that could bake a cute cake for my daughters first birthday like the one I wanted and that it wasn't crazy expensive!!!! I found Heaven's Bakery on Yelp. Was very nervous when I saw this small bakery on one corner inside the shopping center but I did see that they had pictures of cakes they had made and one like the one I wanted was there. Price was $70 to feed about 20 people. She was very accommodating when I called a day before to change pick up day from Wednesday to Saturday. A hidden gem inside of Greenbelt Mall. So I had the responsibility of getting a custom baby shower cake and had inquired with several other bakeries. Prices seemed to range between 180-450! As a college student I am tight on money. So during my monthly trip to the eyebrow threading booth I I realized that directly across the hall this bakery does custom cakes. After showing a picture of a sample cake I asked for an estimated price & was told 145. Shocked at how cheap it was compared to other places I asked to view other cakes and was provided with 3 photo albums filled with past cakes. Pleased with what I saw I went ahead and placed an order. Being as though it's Greenbelt Mall I was nervous on how my cake would turn out. Come the day to pick it up I was ecstatic! Every detail I asked for was met to a T. All afternoon the cake received compliments on the looks. When it came to tasting the cake more compliments followed...It's so moist, the icing doesn't have that weird after taste, it's so light...and so on.
