Typically this was my go to diner on Saturday mornings but it's been a hit or miss lately. The management here are definitely not very friendly & always seem to have some type of attitude that you notice right when you walk in the door. Some waiters/waitresses are great but others not so much. Definitely a mixture of attitudes with the staff/management. I usually get a veggie omelette or waffles which always comes out great. I also love the eggplant parm sandwhich so the food is relatively good. Servers are usually quick & attentive as well. Only a couple of times I have had crappy service here. The Springfield Diner is just OK and nothing more than that. I've eaten here at least a half-dozen times now simply out of convenience, but I've never had anything that is especially great. Breakfast, Italian, BBQ, chicken entrees, etc. -- all just so-so. Even their iced tea is bland. Most of the items are not badly priced so if even the food is consistantly average, it's not overpriced. Personally, I have not found the food portions to be a 'big' as some have characterized them to be. Maybe I've just ordered all the wrong things, but most of my dishes have been pretty average in size. The baked shells and the fried chicken portions were actually kind of small overall. The service has been pretty good overall so no complaints there. I think all of the waitresses -- at least after the first time we went there -- have all been nice enough and attentive. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Springfield Diner as a place you need to try, but I wouldn't say stear clear of it either. The Springfield Diner is definitely a staple in the area for late night weekend grub. That being said, me and my buddies frequent the Diner on Monday nights to grab a cup of coffee and shoot the breeze. It's almost become a regular weekly occurrence. And I don't plan to stop coming here any time soon. I have only ever ordered one or two items from this place that I found unsatisfying. The breakfast food is always on point. The fries are always cooked to perfect texture. I would never order a steak here, but their entrees are still pretty damn good. And it goes without saying that their desserts, which light up the store-front cases, are brilliant. Every now and then I get requests from home to bring a tasty slice of lemon meringue pie home. All in all, a great place to sit down if you feel like grabbing a bite casually with some friends, be it a late night, an early morning, or just a mid-afternoon lunch, this place is never a bad choice. This is an average diner with standard menu and the food is ok nothing outstanding. The coffee was the best part of the meal. The home fires could have been cooked a little longer for my taste. Food is typical good diner food. A large menu to pick from and fast service. The only down side was our waitress did not wear a mask. She had one around her chin and periodically pulled it up to cover just her mouth. I finally complained to a manager who couldn't be nicer and got another waitress to serve us. He tried to explain to us that it might have fallen as she walked but after watching her realized that did not happen. The original waitress continued to either wear her mask incorrectly or not at all, even after the manager told her to wear it. She complained loudly about having to wear it. When the restaurant first opened after covid we went the first week and had a similar experience. It's been months and I thought I would try it again. Sadly, not going back again. My daughter was doubled over in pain from her meal no more than five minutes into eating it. My fish and chips were stuck together and when they were pulled apart there was a White mush from the breading. Great portion sizes and flavors that are timeless. The menu is large enough that you'll never get to try everything. The Brussels sprouts are delicious and the fish dishes never disappoint. My mom particularly loves the pies and cakes but I could die for the rice pudding. Sometimes it's a little overwhelming to sit in here, but when my appetite is big enough, I love filling up on this delicious food. Plus the wait staff is great! read more

This is a local favorite! So good in fact, that it's become a monthly tradition for my friend and I to catch up over dinner. We make a point to leave Philadelphia (where we live) to eat here - it's worth the car ride! The menu is HUGE with options for just about everybody. The food is consistently good - be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. The portions are pretty big too - I usually can't finish my food (and look forward to my leftovers), especially if you order a full entrée which comes with bread, salad or soup and a dessert! Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The ambience is definitely a step-above as far as it goes for diners - great lighting, clean and modern. The menu is scary big, the food comes out insanely fast, portions are HUGE, and the prices are low. Love going here for breakfast and lunch, but have not had a good dinner experience. This is definitely a quantity over quality type of place. Use common sense when ordering and stay away from the more "exotic" items that they most likely sell 1 a week of and most certainly come out of the freezer. Not the place to experiment. A place with good food, but the staff is horrendous! When you are making your order they feel a need to question your choices and/or laugh at it. Very unpleasant and unprofessional behavior. Honestly very bad, I went there a week ago and it was very busy so I thought to my self, I alway see them busy they must be very good. I continue to pull in the parking lot and got in there and it was extremely crowded, to the point of not following COVID 6ft guidelines. They were able to sit us so I just followed them, a couple minutes in I felt very uncomfortable. They were so packed that they don't even take their time to clean the tables for the next customer, it was get in eat and get out. The waitress took forever before coming to take our order and the food took even longer. I order Belgian waffle with ice cream and chicken tenders, and my companion the bacon cheese burger. We both hated our food, but I did enjoy the Belgian waffle. I think the service could be better and the food too. But don't get me wrong I'm not one to complain and just mention all the bad things about something, so I will say their dessert looks wonderful, it's nicely decorated and I would definitely order a cake there for an event. Stopped for dinner after a great night at Bates. Husband had the Greek Trio, I had the open-face roast beef with fries. Husband loved his. Mine was piled high with roast beef. Unfortunately, that is the nicest I can say about it. The beef lacked taste, the gravy was highly salted and the bread was stale, not toasted (I asked), hard stale. This was the first bad meal I had ever had here. Throw the stale bread away, don't try to hide it under beef and gravy. The waitress was upset. The free cheesecake was very good, but I would have preferred a more palatable dinner. We will be back, but not if their cook continues on that path. read more

My husband and I have been going to the Springfield Diner weekly for breakfast for the last few years. The Diner is huge with two large sections and a medium sized section with a counter, but during peak times on the weekend mornings there can be a wait. Rarely have we had to wait more than 10 minutes. There is a nice mix of demographics - young people, families with children, us older folks. The food is respectable, satisfying diner cuisine. I order my eggs over easy and they are done just right - not over or under cooked. Coffee is hot and plentiful. Other diners in the area use a Bisquick-type mix for pancakes and waffles, but not the Springfield Diner. Their pancakes and waffles taste homemade. Same goes for the hashed brown potatoes, which are heaped in generous quantities onto the plate. My only complaint about breakfast is that sometimes the bacon is overdone - dry and brittle. And that's only sometimes. The service is attentive, efficient, and friendly. We see the same set of servers almost every weekend and it is nice to see the familiar faces. Compared to diners in Philly, the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend the Springfield Diner to anyone looking for a simple traditional diner breakfast. If you are looking for high-end diner food (challah French bread, small-batch maples syrup, artisan bacon from local hogs), move along. read more

So the menu had quite a few salads (none under $11) which I wanted to try but new takeout would be less than great. I opted for the chili, which would seem pretty easy, a no brainer for a quick takeout snack. Can I just say for $5, did the "chef" just open a can of hormel?? To say it had the consistency and taste of dogfood would be insulting the dogfood. Isn't most chili made with at least SOME tomatoes? Not a one, not a taste of one....ground mystery meat with no flavor and maybe 6 anemic kidney beans. I was going to stay and order a full meal but they do not have wifi, nor a very welcoming staff. Springfield Diner is a nice alternative to IHOP. They have a huge selection of baked goods on display when you walk in the door. My boyfriend and I seem to end up here whenever we have a weekday off. We were (and are normally) seated immediately even though the restaurant was busy (it was the Friday after the 4th of July so I assume most people were off). He ordered an omelette and home fries and I ordered a waffle with bacon. We enjoyed our meals. The server did forget to bring out my (shot glass size) small OJ. If you're thirsty and/or not a child I suggest you order the large OJ. Overall 4/5 for Springfield since it seems IHOP down the road is closed and Denny's down the road will never ever be an option. read more
