I live close by. I've been ordering to go because the spot is small. They always have my order ready in 20 minutes or less. I always get the Kalbi dinner. I'd recommend the kimchee pancakes and spicy wings. If you eat at the restaurant the kimchee stew or dolsot bim bim bop is best when served out of the kitchen hot. so good! i was afraid i wouldn't find parking, but they had a small lot. went early (11 am) and it wasn't crowded. i am korean-american and went with another korean. we loved it, especially the spicy chicken. would order again: kimchi ramen, spicy chicken, spam kimbap, potstickers, bulgogi. bulgogi and potstickers were for folks who were scared of spicy. they liked it. lots of outdoor seating, both in the sun and shade. my new hang out spot for sure. read more

Since everything shuts down so early in Berkeley, we had a hard time finding a place to eat after nine o'clock. We happened on this restaurant, which seemed interesting to us. I actually had never eaten Korean food in my life, so needless to say, the food was strange to my palette. Can I just boast for one second about my LOVE for Korean cuisine?! It would be my last meal if I were to die tomorrow. This restaurant is located a few minutes away from our condo so how excited was I when we finally made it in? My excitement nearly ran itself back to the condo, and ordered pizza when I saw the portion of calbi as it arrived to the table. It was nearly half an order for a full order's cost. Not to mention my beef tofu soup was luke warm and barely poached the raw egg. We asked for medium spicy not bland and flavorless. The ban chan was alright. We didn't ask for more of it, which is so unlike us. Needless to say I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon. I love my Korean cuisine way too much to be talking badly about it. read more

I have been watching and waiting for this place to open for weeks. It finally did yesterday and I lunched there with two dining companions today. Very cute place with wonderful, friendly service. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed the beef potstickers. They were flavorful, not greasy with the right amount of perfectly crisped dough. They offer 3 types, six for the incredible price of $5. For lunch, I had the spicy pork bowl, it was scrumptious. It comes with cabbage and the little side dishes to make Korean tacos. Really tasty kimchee whith the right amount of spice. Also got a taste of spicy chicken (good) and beef short ribs (delicious). They serve complimentary tea. Lots of inventive dishes including savory pancakes. Right now they are open 7 - 4 but may expand hours. Several tables were filled so check it out before it gets too popular. Highly recommend. My only disappointment is that Rworange beat me to the first review. I can see moving them to 5 stars after a few visits. read more

Tucked away on the corner of ashby right next to berkeley bowl west, this is a little gem in emeryville serving delicious korean food with great attitude. The waiters are all very attentive, very courteous, and make great recommendations. The menu is small, in some ways, but almost every one of their items sound good. Unique to their restaurant is the porridge section, which I have yet to see at other korean restaurants. The porridge is delicious and contains a creamy mixture of grains and rice, and the sauce that they serve it with compliments the porridge surprisingly well. They give you lots of ban chan, which is always a super plus for me, The galbi is pretty tasty, and I love their kim bap. Kim bap is another item you don't always see on the menu, because I suppose you typically find it in korean supermarkets. They have it here, and it is great, especially the spicy pork one! Lots of meat and veggies, not just all rice. Delicious! Their tofu soup is pretty standard, but their noodle dishes are quite tasty! Love it, and will definitely be coming back! read more

This is the best Korean restaurant in the East Bay. It is my go to restaurant when I want comfort food such as the spicy rice cake with mozzarella and kimchi fried rice.
