I love this place. Quick service, clean place and the staff are always happy to help by giving explanations and suggestions.

My wife has been hearing good things about Shabu for the last couple of weeks. We decide to stop in with our two daughters last night. I'll go ahead and say that I'm not usually a fan of places where I have to cook my own food. (Part of the reason I'm going out is to relax.) Anyway, the broths were good, we had the spicy and house. The vegetables and noodles came out and I was a little disappointed as some of the vegetables were frozen not fresh. My wife and I got the clear noodles and udon, my kids ordered the ramen. Both my wife a my noodles were frozen, my children's noodles were taken straight out of a pack of store bought ramen. We ordered a meat combo for the girls, lamb and pork, my wife ordered beef and I had seafood. The regular meats were thinly sliced, so they were easier to cook, and very tasty. The seafood tray was also good and had any excellent variety of choices. I was not impressed with the sauce bar. It may be my fault but I wasn't able to make a sauce that I enjoyed. Once again, why should I have to make my own sauce when I'm going out to eat? (But that's just me I guess.) The staff was very helpful when we arrived and until our food arrived. After that they were less attentive. I had to go find someone when one of our in table heating elements quit working. We also ran out of napkins and drinks several times and had to wait a while to have them filled. Overall the food was very good, so good in fact that it made me overlook several other shortcomings (I would have given Shabu 2 stars but the food didn't deserve it.) read more

This place was pretty good, especially considering it's located in Pooler. I only just moved to the area, but I have had Shabu Shabu in many other areas. I started with the gyoza, which was a pretty standard affair as far as gyoza is concerned. They tasted like they were steamed, and then pan fried. I also ordered the house broth, the "surf and turf" plate, and the "clear" noodles. I've never had clear noodles before, but I've heard of them. They were fine, albeit they didn't really taste like anything. Definitely not Splendid Shabu's fault; as I understand it, these are pretty boring as far as noodles are concerned (they don't taste like anything, and really don't absorb any of the broth). Do not be afraid to use your chopsticks to pick up the raw beef, swish it around in the boiling broth for about 10-15 seconds, dip it in the sauce, and then eat it; you won't get sick. Splendid Shabu also as a nice dipping sauce bar. I suggest you stick to the standard mixture they have posted above the bar as it's pretty good on it's own. 10/10 would definitely eat here again. read more

This place was a great surprise. You will need a little longer than the usual work lunch time to enjoy properly the hot pot process. Everything is cooked on your table while you wait. Menu system is well organized and simple to understand. Service is fast and helpful. One of the best restaurants in this location if you are trying to eat healthy and still want bold flavor. Splendid Shabu is simply amazing it's a cook it yourself noodle/soup restaurant the atmosphere if friendly and inviting if you have never eaten here the staff will walk you through everything. We were in Pooler for a convention and found Splendid Shabu on Yelp. We got there at peak dinner time on a Saturday night and they were beginning to fill up. We were seated right away and while we weren't sure what to expect, our server explained the process to us. The food came out fast, multiple people, not just our server, kept checking on us. The service was phenomenal. The food was delicious. Everybody was super friendly. We will definitely be back when we return to Pooler! read more

I went to the Tanger outlets in Pooler for the first time & was so happy to stumble upon this place. Shabu shabu was my favorite when I lived in Orange County, California and I haven't been able to find it since moving back to GA. It is slightly different from the CA version but isn't everything? I had the spicy soup base & surf & turf w no noodles since I am low carb. It was delish! In CA, the employees handle the temperature of the hot plate so I was a little confused when I had to do it myself. I'm also surprised that when I asked to take the soup home, I was given a bowl & had to pour the boiling soup myself. The risk manager in me thinks this is a lawsuit waiting to happen & you may want to consider having the employees handle that. If someone accidentally poured boiling soup on themselves, that could result in a serious injury. Overall, the service was good and I will go back! read more

Very good and decent portions. We quit eating carbs so they gave us extra spinach and cabbage in place of the noodles. I wish the broths were not pork based for 3 of the 4 options. A decent vegetable broth with spices would go a long way, especially when you offer so many vegan options. Seafood platter was good but I am not a fan of peel and devein your own stuff. Also imitation crab is not crab. The squid and mussels and fish were very good. I love the sauce bar to flavor. The meat is sliced so thin is cooks quickly and you are in your way to full fast. Literally just flew in from out of town on a Saturday evening and found this on Yelp. Not easy to enjoy with tired and picky toddlers plus the fear of them accidentally touching the hot pot, but overall a positive experience. Our waitress was patient and helpful explaining the menu, and she also provided some recommendations. We cook a lot at home, so we enjoyed mixing all the ingredients ourselves and really making it our own with the different sauces and condiments that they provide. read more

This was a pretty interesting place to eat. It's a nice size on the inside, great atmosphere. The waitress described the menu because it was our first time but she kind of flew through it so it can be a bit confusing your first time. They literally bring you a pot of broth and you cook your meal yourself at your table. We had the vegan option so we got uncooked noodles and veggies. It's definitely a lot of food. The only downsides: the sauces are out in the open, not very sanitary. Also, the waitress maybe checked on us once in over an hour and never cleared plates. They got busy and we never saw her again, we had to flag someone down to get our check. Overall, I'd go back. The service wasn't great but the food and tea was worth it. The lunch menu is fantastic! The house sauce is my favorite. The spicy sauce will make you sweat. It is super spicy, but has a lot of flavor, which makes the sweet bearable and meaningful Their sauce section is always stocked, and the service is always efficient and courteous. Amazing food experience! We loved the concept. You made your own dish, on your table, over and individual induction smooth top (like a stove but if you touch the surface you do not get burned). Kids loved to make their own dish with healthy and fresh food, and of course include vegetables we never tried before. They ate all of them from their own hot pot. The dipping sauces were amazing, the staff is very professional and explained us step by step how to prepare our food and how to mix and customize our dipping sauces. The beverages were so different and amazing, too. They have tapioca on them which is like a healthy gummy bear. Oh my! The ice cream was just the final touch. It is a small portion covered by a thin layer of rice, just perfect to finalized our amazing experience in this restaurant. The owner, a young lady, was very nice sharing us how she launched this concept just 7 months ago. We will really like to have some of this kind of restaurants in our area in SC. Meanwhile, every time we visit the beautiful Savannah we will stop by this place and we will recommend this place to all people who like to try something different and really healthy, rather than the boring salads. Really really nice ramen/noodle spot. The only thing is, you have to assemble it yourself. You are given a basic broth (that you choose) and you have to flavor it yourself. The first time I went, I didn't know how to flavor it right. But the second time, I got the hang of it and it was amazing! You just have to know how to flavor the food right. Never been disappointed with this place. The service is nothing to write home about but it's never bad. The food is good and, most importantly, reasonably priced for its quality for both the lunch and dinner portion. Not really thrilled that they tack on a sharing charge. They do this regardless of whether the other person wants noodles/rice for themselves and the portion of the rest of the food, according to them, is the same either way so why would they charge for it? I would advise not to pay more for their upgraded broths since the sauce bar gives plenty of flavor options to add yourself. read more

We stopped in because they advertised for bubble tea, but when we walked in, everything smelled so amazing that we stayed for lunch! The food was excellent and I loved being able to have an interactive experience while dining and choose what I wanted in my broth and how much, etc (i'm a very picky eater and also vegetarian).
