Chinese buffets are my guilty pleasure. I detoured off the interstate and stopped at Hong Kong for dinner, arriving at around 7pm. Still quite busy and that was good because the steam tables were loaded up with plenty of options and variety. I was able to put together a couple of good plates that were mostly protein and avoided the battered and the heavy sauces. The sushi display is a nice variety that was tasty and fresh. I did not try the hibachi - maybe I'll do that next time. Prices are clearly marked and I've posted a picture of the board. The restaurant was reasonably clean. Hong Kong Buffett offers a large variety of Asian foods for a decent price. I had lunch recently and the place was full of hungry customers. All the food pans were replenished constantly so the food was fresh. It's standard Chinese buffet food with a few American dishes. I enjoyed the sushi and salad area as it had a lot to choose from. This place was very full at lunch time. The service was good. The price was ok. The food was good also. It's Chinese buffet. What can I say. We got there early enough that everything wasn't picked over. One thing I liked, the place a small amount of food in the serving tray. They kept filling it with hot, fresh food. Great idea. I think that's what they were doing. Anyway, warm food. The selection was good. Plenty of different chicken choices. The steak they had was very tender and tasty. My favorite. This is a very decent buffet spot if your in the Rincon area. The waiters are very friendly and the ambience was very warm for dinner. The food is typical Chinese food. I think they could work on presentation a bit more cause some of the foods didn't look appetizing. They also we're down on the soda machine so only water was really available but she still asked what we wanted to drink as if the only chocies weren't sweet tea and water. Today I was in the Planet Fitness plaza and I went into a hypoglycemic episode that about knocked me on my behind. Sweating profusely, dizzy, tingly... just awful, at the time I didn't know at the time what was happening (turns out I had a doctor appointment in that same plaza 20 minutes later). Anyways, I popped in the HKB and the owner was so, so nice. She said she knew what was happening and gave me a soda and was just so kind to take care of me. Although the food is very mediocre, the service was great. My family, with 5 adults, two young children and two toddlers were treated well. The buffet itself is kept stocked with hot food. Just had a horrible experience at this place. Waitress asked my daughter how old she was and she told her 10, she started saying something to her manager and then she told me she is not 10 she is 11 because she was 11 last time, not sure if she confused my daughter with someone else but I told her she is 10 her birthday is 07/11/2012 her manager said something in their native tongue and she walked away. I couldn't even enjoy dinner I found my daughter's birthday certificate through my pictures and I showed it to her she told me ok well people lie to us all the time so how I'm I supposed to believe you??? I told her I understand people lie but she made it seem like my daughter and I were lying and that's not the way I'm raising my children!!! I don't appreciate her insinuating we were lying, specially since they were guests surrounding us around our table. Very rude and disrespectful!!!! On the hunt for some post-church grub, we wanted something quick and filling, and different. Chinese buffets are hard to say no to, so we gave this place a chance. It isn't great or awesome or anything, but it was better than expected. The layout was pretty big with plenty to choose from. Broccoli Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken were definitely worth a second helping. The "sushi" was actually decent. Decent price for gorging yourself with slightly above average food. The flavors are rather bland and probably adapted to the locals taste buds. The volume and variety will surely make a night out pleasant as everyone gets to choose what goes on their plate. So picky eaters and all consumers will be happy there. The staff is on the ball rotating the food out of the kitchen as needed. The waitstaff are quick to pull your dirty plates so you will have space for the new plates. Oh wow. I went here for lunch and got a to-go box. What a huge selection! I was not sure about trying this because Chinese food can be bad if they don't cook it right. I was pleasantly surprised that the sweet and sour chicken actually had whole pieces of chicken in it, not just chicken bits and flour. The fried rice was one of the best I have had in years. I love Asian food and that has been the ONLY reason I have returned in the past. But I DO NOT eat there anymore. 34 year old student were kicked out because we sat there too long. told us we had to go even though there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. We ate then studied and was told we had to go even though we never even went back to the bar. I WILL NEVER RETURN.. we asked for the manager or owner, the servers told us they did not know them or how to get in touch with them. We told them that we were going to talk to them before we paid the bill or they could call the police. They finally called the "manager" and she apologized and said the server had never been put in that situation before. I have made complaints with the Dept of Public Health, where I found out they received a 11 on their State of Georgia food service score at the end of last year. You can check state of Georgia food service scores, Effingham County, Hong Kong and also with the city of Rincon Business License department. We caused no trouble, just sitting there after lunch studying. We told them we could understand if they were busy but with 3 tables in the restaurant, that was not possible.
