I heard about this place last weekend via Social media, and couldn't wait to try, so I stopped by a couple days ago after work to pick up some food to take home with me. I could see right away that this restaurant has a lot to do with the experience of dining in, but after a long day I really just wanted to get home and have something wholesome to eat without having to cook. And while, like I said, this seems like a great place to dine in, take out was not a bad idea! The chef put everything together for me, placing everything in separate containers, even helped me make a master sauce (which was delicious!), and took care to explain the best way to enjoy the meal. When I got home, I was very pleasantly surprised by...well everything! I had ordered the vegetarian option, and there were different tofus, mushrooms, the vegetables were amazing, the broth was great, and again the sauce! Some things in the dish I wasn't familiar with, but it all tasted wonderful. The best part was that I had plenty to share with my roommate, so we were both happy. It was great value to feed two adults a full meal for only eleven dollars. I'll definitely return with a friend to dine in, or again for take out. So glad this restaurant opened adding a healthy, delicious, and fun dining option in Pooler. read more

Pretty good for the Savannah area. I've read previous reviews on this place and honestly, yes you sound snobby. Not everyone knows it's not authentic and not everyone will have the chance to experience "real hot pot in Japan", but it's hot pot none the less. I think the experience is great and the servers are wonderful. There are two places that I know of that serve "hot pot". This place and The Noodle Bowl which is owned by a Malaysian woman I believe. You don't get as much serving size here, but surprisingly it is enough and it will get you full. I believe at the noodle bowl you get a lot more. As someone who enjoys Asian cuisine and is in an area where there aren't a lot of authentic Asian foods around, I take what I can get. I'd be even more impressed if Savannah had a dim sum place (and if there is already please let me know) read more

We enjoyed the curry broth with chicken and pho noodles. Our other entree was beef with udon noodles and the house sauce. The suggested dipping sauce of equal parts hoisin, House, and peanut sauces was very good. With the curry we used 2 parts house sauce with 1 part peanut sauce. read more

This place was worth all the hype! It's so refreshing to see unique restaurants taking a risk in this area. Hopefully all the social media love will attract people and encourage Splendid Shabu to move somewhere where they can be seen from the road! (For now, look for it way off to the right in the Sam's Club plaza, behind an urgent care and in the general vicinity of the Shell gas station.) SO HEALTHY, TASTY, and FUN! Expect to cook your own food, obviously (unless you request an "express meal" at lunchtime); I'm sorry to say Shabu was a bit exhausting for my unadventurous parents. (The meat is sliced so thin, though, it only takes ~5 seconds to cook, for example, so they need to get over that, haha.) I even saw a family come in with small children for their first time and was impressed how open-minded the kids were to the concept. (They liked the fruit smoothies and bubble tea, of course!) Btw, the vegetarian platter is the most impressive, varied tofu display I've ever seen. My poor fiancé has to stop me from visiting Shabu more then 3 times a week. Absolutely love this restaurant. I leave feeling full, but not like I ate a ton of bad food. Super healthy and the bubble tea is so yummy. The sauce bar is addictive and I love getting gyoza to start (even though I can never finish a full meal there!). Worth the drive and money for sure. I haven't had a hot pot/ steamboat meal in a really long time (because it's not a common thing to find in the US) but this place is AMAZING!! It's a fairly common dish in asian but they go by different names. It's similar to the melting pot but instead of cheese and all the other not so nutritious food, you get to pick your noodles, broth, veggies and meat!!! My husband and I are not from here but we have already made an agreement to take this route for our next road trip so we can eat here again!!! And don't forget the bubble tea/ boba!! Giving this place five stars based solely on the food. Have never had food like this before and will definitely be going back. The service was a little too much. The waitress spends too much time educating you on how to do everything. She was very nice but too much in your face. Service is great... broth is alright.. im coming from philippines, guam and hawaii.. Comparing the taste isnt the same. Im on a treasure hunt on finding real, good asian food, just because im asian.. if it doesnt taste like real authentic vietnamese, thai, filipino food, im sorry i cant give u a 5 star.. but dont get me wrong, it isnt that bad i guess, it definitely aint the worse. but the price is actually much more expensive than Hawaii shabu. also when i asked them to make me anything similar to pho, but it doesnt taste like pho and had this after taste on the broth that actually left a bad taste on my tongue, and i didnt even continue eating.. u know something aint right. read more

What an amazing and unique experience! Everything is so clean and fresh. The Gyoza appetizer was the best I've had anywhere! The veggies are amazing and fresh. The whole concept of cooking and eating right there at the table is awesome and the servers are incredibly helpful. Ask for details on how to cook and eat everything. We had the meat lovers- so cool how it literally cooks in seconds right in front of you. I highly recommend finishing everything off with a taro bubble tea. Very good! I'm usually not a big fan of paying and then cooking my own food when going to an establishment but this was not bad. The beef was really tasty and there are plenty of broth options. This is a good place for vegetarians also. A good tidbit is that there's a spice bar which includes garlic, jalapenos and other veggies. There's a reason Splendid Shabu keeps getting 5 star reviews, it is consistently great! I've been here for lunch and gotten their express bowls. With these they deliver you a bowl of noodle soup with the protein of your choice and it's ready to be eaten. At dinner, the cook it yourself menu is lots of fun. I personally like the vegetarian tofu plate even though I'm not vegetarian. That option has lots of interesting veggies on it that I'd never tried before. Taro, tofu skin, some funky mushrooms...it's all good. I love the customization of the sauce bar. The staff here is accommodating and willing to spend time explaining things to you if it's your first time. I highly recommend this place! read more

We are avid Shabu Shabu eaters from New York City, and were staying in Pooler, GA, while attending a racing weekend at nearby Roebling Road Raceway. Imagine our surprise when we happened by accident upon "Splendid Shabu", tucked in the back of a mall parking lot in the middle of small-town Pooler! My daughter and I chose to dine here while the others in our party went to nearby corporate chain restaurants. When we arrived we were greeted by the delightful co-owner Christine who promptly seated us, making sure we were comfortable, and showed us how their menu worked. As long-time fans of this cuisine we knew the routine and she was a good listener about what we liked about Shabu. We were very pleased with their multitude of choices of broth and sauces, which we wouldn't always have in NYC, with a diversity of flavors that would appeal to most. Shabu is all about the sauce, and they nailed it! The beef was very tender and lean and were accompanied by a great selection of vegetables. During our dinner we met owner Timmy and he explained how it was their goal to bring this wonderful (and not entirely common) dish to the American palate. They have done a great job bringing it to the masses. Shabu Shabu is truly a healthy dinner option, is great for families or groups of friends, and always good fun. You make it your own way and there is no right or wrong way to prepare. I encourage everyone from Savannah/Pooler area and beyond to make the trek to this little Splendid gem. A great spot for hot pot (no rhyme intended). What really was the kicker for us were the vegetarian options (a vegetarian Miso broth and a tofu+veggies combo). My wife and I shared one hot pot and loved it. The setup is simple enough: you pick your broth, you pick your noodle, you pick your protein, and you then create your own dipping sauce. You'll have a hot burner at your table which the hot broth simmers in. You then slowly place your raw veggies and protein in there and let them cook for a few minutes. You then pull them out and dip them in your self-engineered sauce...and have right at it. I would definitely eat here again. The staff was helpful and quick with service. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I recently picked up a to-go order which, in this sit-down setting, is not recommended because you lose the atmosphere. However, I was sick and needed some delicious soup. They were extremely helpful and kind taking my order over the phone and they gave me even better customer service when I went into the restaurant. I was worried that getting it to-go would ruin the integrity of my hot pot but it was just as delicious as if I'd gone to the restaurant. Unfortunately, not as fun. This place is amazing! My wife and I stopped here after a trip to Savannah, and we found Splendid Shabu here on yelp. It was our first Shabu Shabu experience, so we had no idea how to eat it. The staff was fantastic and very helpful in explaining the process. The owner Timmy spoke to us after our meal and answered all of our questions and explained some of the ways people enjoy Shabu Shabu. What a great time! This type of food is best for those who enjoy the experience of the meal, as well as learning how to properly prepare the meal. We couldnt have had a better time, what a great restaurant! We will be looking for a Shabu Shabu restaurant near home, and try to make it back here whenever we can! read more

Very good soup; filling but doesn't weigh you down. I like the different options and al a carte style menu for soup. This soup is very different from pho and very tasty. For soup it is rather expensive though somewhere around $18 with tip. Even though it's very busy on the weekend the service is good. read more

At this restaurant you cook your own food in broth at your table. At first I didn't like the idea, I was tired from traveling, but I caught on real quick and it was very easy and fun.
