Don't fall into old marketing strategies, trying to sell you something by showing you more than what is really in the contract without even mentioning it in any of the talks about the project, it will be your fault for not "paying attention" to those little details that were not even that clear. They just threaten with liens on your property and that's it. All the details of landscaping, style, type of plants, etc. were discussed, why to discuss that and don't even ask if you want to add it to the price? it wasn't until the end that was found out it wasn''t part of the contract. Even when there is a contract you should make sure verbally that the client is aware of what they are "signing", it is simple professionalism. read more

SO...this is a tough one because I really wanted this to be a good experience. We haven't had the luxury of building a lot of pools, so maybe we didn't understand the process. You talk about a job, discuss your vision, come up with a plan, and get a quote. Sounded pretty straight forward but be careful when you sign your contract. What you think may be included, most likely isn't. There were ample discussions to reveal the fact that you aren't getting everything that you think you are paying for. It isn't until the very end that you realize, if you want the project completed, you will have to dish out way more money than you expected or budgeted for. What's discussed isn't necessarily in the contract. You may see it in your vision or even on your renderings, but that doesn't mean they will put in your contract. You will hear a lot of "contract" talk if you run into any issues. If you are looking to discuss how you felt misled, and want to work out some kind of resolution, beware, they threaten you with LIEN's on your property. We had to dish out a significant amount of extra money to complete the landscaping and the entire front of the house. The parts they do complete under "contract" seem ok, but after some of these reviews, I do worry about longevity. We spent $xxx,xxx.xx and we were only discussing a small amount, $x,xxx. to help put towards the completion of the rest of the project, you can imagine that the talk of Liens was quite the surprise. Needless to say, we didn't have them complete the project or will have them do anything for us in the future. Stay far away from them if you can! read more

Brian T. I have a service that monitors the chemicals in my pool weekly, so that is not the problem. The problem, then, has to be the longevity of the plaster. Future customers should be warned they will get four years of a beautiful pool, and after that they need to consider replastering.... which is where I am now. For reviewers... I think this review is long overdue. Splash pools built me an amazing pool and did all the landscaping at my home 3 years ago. I've had nothing but compliments from everyone that has seen it. Nothing but great experiences with Splash Pools no matter what questions I had as a follow up--even 3 years later! Brian is a straight up guy, no nonsense, gets straight to the point and handles business. On a Friday night at 9PM and 3 years after the job was done, I had a question - NO PROBLEM! He called and walked me through some issues I thought I had. He helped me figure out what I had set wrong on the pool and helped me fix my running water problem. I'm embarrassed to say the least. We had a beautifully designed acrylic pool that was quite complicated to build. We were told by our landscape design team (highly recommend the award-winning LandCreative, Inc.) that only a few good pool contractors are qualified to successfully installed such a pool. We asked them for several referrals and Splash Pools was one of them. After doing some research we issued an RFP to three vendors and decided to go with Splash Pools because they seemed to be the most experienced and knowledgeable. Really appreciated Brian Tadeo, their V.P. who patiently explained the whole process. The pool along with the yard took about 8 months to complete. Throughout the entire process, Splash Pools stayed on the job and in close contact with our hardscape contractor as they have to coordinate their work at different points of construction. At one point during construction, the acrylic glass on the spa was cracked shortly after it was installed and needed to be replaced. This was a very costly replacement in terms of materials and labor as a crane has to be ordered again to install and replace it. Instead of arguing with the acrylic sub-contractor on whose fault it was and hold up the project, Brian T. worked out the cost with the acrylic subcontractor to immediately replaced the glass to keep the project on track. A big thanks to Brian T. for that. We also appreciated their lead foreman, Donnie, who was always there to supervise and address our questions with patience during the entire construction process. Donnie was also great with minor follow-up issues even after the installation was completed. In the end, we were highly pleased with both the outcome and experience we received from Splash Pools and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for have a pool built beautifully and professionally. We had Splash build our pool about 10 years ago (2013). We were very happy with their quality and timeliness. There were no surprises and they did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. The pool turned out beautiful and was completed on time. During the last downpour (8/2023) our pool equipment stopped working. Pumps wouldn't run and neither would our lights or water features. The breaker tripped every time we tried to turn the controller on. Our current pool service came out and diagnosed it as a dead controller panel. Gave us a quote of over $5,000 to replace. We called Splash and they said they could replace the controller with a retrofit upgrade for significantly less. When Matt their technician came out to do the upgrade, he looked at the controller and which breaker was popping and told me something didn't seem right. He asked if he could poke around a bit to test the different components. After about 1/2 hour he said your controller is fine it's actually your ozone system that shorted out because water got inside the case during the recent downpour. He was able to get the system up and running in about an hour for the cost of a service call and said they would send the retro fit controller back to Hayward. Because he took the time to question what we told him the diagnosis was, he saved us from spending thousands of dollars. That is integrity at its finest. We thought we were going to have a pool to enjoy this hot 4th of July. This disappointing journey began in 2010 when mutual friends of ours had suggested Splash Pools to us when our family was looking to get a pool. We were led to believe that with Splash we would get great service and have a good experience however, it has actually been the exact opposite. Throughout the construction process, my mom had noticed a few things that didn't seem quite right and when she tried bringing them to Jeffs attention... he was passive and refused to pay attention and fix these issues. Thus, less than a year later, due to the lack of quality work, the concrete coping around the entire pool began to crack and caused major safety concerns. After trying once again to bring this to Splash Pool's attention, we had no success or support from them. After being disregarded, we had to eventually accept the loss and move on with a pool we couldn't truly enjoy. Now eight years later, after having tried to deal with the situation, we decided to reach out to Splash Pools and give them a chance to redeem themselves. As you can see, they have not. In May of this year, Brian 'apologetically' communicated to my parents that "he wishes we would have tried contacting them sooner" (we had).. and "he can have his guys in and out to fix the pool within two weeks max" and "it will only cost ___ amount as he would only have us paying for the labor & materials." All of the above are empty promises. Not only did Brian add an additional $2000 to the original agreed cost without reason.. we have now gone at least 3-4 weeks without anyone coming to our house to work on the pool and it remains unfinished to this day. Brian even spoke to us last Monday promising that it would been done no later than last Thursday!! More empty promises. We have tried multiple times to communicate with them and we have received no calls back. It was a huge mistake choosing Splash Pools. Their website states that they service Riverside County. I am a business owner for over 19 years and I am appalled of their service. Not everyone in Moreno Valley is ghetto or poor. You just lost a sale of over $150K!, Yes $150,000. I will give them negative stars if I could for being unethical, unprofessional. In the finance world I would call this Redlining. Splash re did our pool last summer and damaged our perfectly good pebble tech in the process by not protecting it when they worked on our coping, tile, etc. They ignore my requests for some sort of resolution to the issue. They built my pool and it is a 3-4 Star job but points off for being dishonest. The charges Jeff gave me were higher then they should have been. He padded the bill 20%. I had to show him line by line and he corrected it. The up charges were extraordinary. Really?!? He knows I'm the middle of a project he's got you and then gouges you for ridiculous up charges. He would add an extra little thing which would take 5 min and $10 of parts and charge me hundreds for it. The jacuzzi wall was totally uncomfortable to sit back against. He would design the piping in the easiest way for them to do the work rather then what would minimize the sound of the pump. I didn't even realize this was an issue until after the pool started running. He should know better. Come on Jeff! The level of detail was poor on some of the work. I think for the pool it self is ok. But don't let him do the outdoor remodel. Way too expensive and sloppy work. He gets subcontractors with mediocre quality and then up-charges big time for it. He did not leave me any extra materials for my ground cover for future repairs. The outdoor structure was falling apart because they used glue only to assemble it. My husband and I finally decided to build our dream pool and we interviewed many ( 17 to be exact) different pool/ construction companies from all over Southern CA. We live on a slope with a view and we were interested in a fairly large infinity edge pool. We also wanted a very natural looking pool to go with our very distinctive old southwestern, rustic looking outdoor cantina/ desert landscaping. We had already hired the very well known landscape designer/ architect Nick Williams and Associates (which I found in many Sunset Magazines from years past) to create our "desert oasis". Nick Williams had already drawn up a wonderful concept for an infinity pool with multi level pools below. We were already in love with Nick's design so we really needed an experienced contractor to execute it. We, however, were very concerned about the integrity of a pool being built on our slope. Some of the companies who came to give us bids, actually seemed hesitant to take on the project. After some visits by various contractors and feeling unsure about this whole project, we spoke to a geologist/ soils engineer, who highly recommend Splash as a company with great experience and integrity. We called Splash and we quickly knew, they were a top notch company. We met with the owner Jeff and he immediately sensed our concern. He assured us he had done many infinity pool projects on slopes and with the proper soils testing and engineering, he felt confident the project would be fine. He also immediately sensed our design esthetic and showed us several other clients pools he had done with more natural looks (using real and faux boulders). After seeing their beautiful work in person, we knew they were the right company to execute the unique design of the pool we wanted. I must add, Splash's own designers are extremely talented and if we had not already been excited to go with Nick Williams design work, we would have been very pleased with Splash's design concepts too. (They are an extraordinary award winning company for their designs as well.) From the start Jeff was extremely excited to take on the project. There was mutual excitement on both our parts. The concept and execution of the pool design was something so unique that we couldn't wait to get the project started and see it come to life! Nick Williams, the designer we had originally chosen to work with, normally uses his own craftsman, but because of the great distance of our project to his normal locations, he agreed to work with Splash for all of the construction. From the start Nick Williams kept saying what a fantastic company Splash is to work with. All of the craftsman that Jeff uses were fantastic!!! Each one of them showed up as scheduled and knew their stuff. If there was anything that needed to be changed or "tweaked" to make something work better, Splash never hesitated to do it right. That goes for Dave Fontaine of Exquisite Ponds as well. He works closely with Splash. His crew did all of the extraordinary natural rock work on the pool. If there was ever an issue, Dave and his guys worked tirelessly and without complaint to get the work done to everyone's satisfaction. From start to finish, we also worked closely with Rory from Splash. Rory has always been our "go to guy" for any questions, needs or issues. Rory has been nothing but helpful and responsive. He has always been great at communicating and getting the job done for us! Even long after our project was completed, if we needed any type of service or had a special request, we called on Rory. Never have we felt forgotten or dismissed. This is not a company that once they have your money, they forget about you and don't follow through. Splash has always been there for us when we need their service. EVERYONE has been really nice, professional, accountable, and reliable. We cannot say enough about the quality of the work and the professionalism of Jeff and his epic crew and office personnel. We most certainly feel we made the right choice choosing Splash as our pool contractor. In fact, Nick Williams was so pleased with the quality of Splash and Dave Fontaine with Exquisite Ponds, he has chosen to do other projects with them! He completed a detailed 2-dimension rendering with actual measurements. He even rushed the rendering at our request. I wanted to take the time to write a proper review on Splash Pools. We just had Splash Pools finish our pool in Mission Viejo, CA and the end result was great. It was one of the rainiest winters in southern California in years so we did have some delays which were no faults of Splash Pools. Splash did not come at us with tons of change orders or upgrades during the project and the end result was exactly what we wanted. Jeff the owner was available and was able to make sure the pool was done right. Matt with Splash has set up and able to show us all the operational aspects which was a great help. The only thing that concerned us originally was that we were told Splash was going to use only Splash employees and not sub-contract anything out, which was not the case... Splash installed a new pool for our family in the Fall of 2011. We were initially satisfied customers, however, after about a year, the pool started really showing all the flaws of a shoddily done job. Our plaster is blotchy because it was likely troweled beyond the set point and/or has water trapped inside it; some of the tiles are starting to come off; their bobcat guy hit our house and the trim repair they did as a result is starting to look bad. One of their service guys, Matt, overdosed the water with cyanuric acid after a filter cleaning, thus exacerbating the already cruddy plaster job. Every time from year one to last year that I've tried to get people out to look at our problems we've been given the "blow off." Getting any response at all via calls and emails was shaky, actually getting someone out here was impossible. I eventually had to drive to the office and complain to the owner's octagenerian mom to get service! At the time the tile and plaster subs were coming in to do the various jobs, I think the owner was distracted by some Disneyland job they had landed. The tile guy was so angry with the owner he almost walked off the job. I grew up in a contracting household, so I believe I have very realistic expectations and standards; I never expected perfection, but the condition of our 4 year old pool is very subpar. The ultimate irony in this is the line on their website about "not just building pools, building relationships." I guess my family was just a one-night stand. No relationship here. Update (6/22/15): Matt contacted me to deny that he had added cyanuric acid (conditioner) to the pool. Apparently Splash does value its reputation, however, its a bit late in this case, as the damage is done. read more

I called splash pools on Monday May 18 left a message to have someone call me about remodeling our pool. I got a phone call on Wednesday May 20 from Jeff. He asked me what we would like to do, I explained to him: pebble, to move tile, raise the spa 18" and add a waterfall. He obviously did not want to do the job and I got the feeling he had already decided I could not afford his work. Then when he asked where I lived he stated he had no jobs scheduled in Moreno Valley, so basically would not do it. Just FYI Jeff don't try and size up your customers by a phone call, your $10,000+ for the spa remodel may have been in our budget. I recently contacted Jeff to repaint our rocks, do some repair to our mastic and clean our tile on our pool that he built 15 years ago and he was extremely responsive and helpful. His team was able to do the work right away and we were very pleased with the outcome. Just as when we had our pool originally built by Splash, Jeff and his team were very customer focused and professional. They have been in business as long as they have because they do excellent work and stand behind it. Splash pools did a recent landscape job on the front yard of our recently remodeled home in Chino Hills (they already did a beautiful job on our pool and back yard several years ago). They did a great job on the hardscape and landscape, and we have gotten a lot of compliments and inquiries on the project. They have great masons, and Jose was great to work with on the landscape job, and had some great ideas and suggestions along the way. It was beautiful. The pool turned out beautiful. Evelyn, In the office, was the biggest help in answering my questions that I had. She gave me updates even before I had to call. Matt came out to help us learn the system as well as answered many questions on how to take care of it.
