I've tried benjis, hanis, Sunday morning rolls, and red gate bakery, tall poppy (to name a few of the most popular cinnamon roll places) and I have to say this is definitely ONE of the most unique spots of the bunch. Red gate reigns supreme as the best in my personal opinion but spirals is one I will continue to frequent over its competitors because of their amazing variety of flavors and the execution. What I love about spirals is that that they serve not only sweet but savory too AND most importantly, let's say it's a salted caramel bun, that's exactly what you're gonna get--NO CINNAMON--and that's precisely what I want in a roll that's claiming to be of a specific flavor. You'll find the flavor all throughout the dough and the icing. It's not a regular cinnamon roll with just some differently flavored icing, there's clearly A LOTTTT of extra effort and labor that's gone into this to differentiate every single roll. Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line. Went with the plane because others looked too sweet (aside from the pesto burrata). You have to ask for them to heat them up. As you can see it kind of ruined the aesthetic, but made it much more enjoyable! It was light and fluffy (as opposed to a denser roll), but I found the icing to be overwhelmingly sweet. Truthfully I like the other ones in East Village better but you'll have to try them out for yourself! It was also by far the most expensive cinnamon roll I've had. And the cinnamon rolls are absolutely divine and my perfect type of cinnamon roll. So fluffy and pillowy, the dough almost melts in your mouth. I tried their seasonal specials: the pumpkin roll and the cookie dough roll. Both had the perfect amount of frosting, and were sweet but not too sweet. One of the best cinnamon rolls i've had in the city! They were gooey, and the dough and fillings were amazing. They make them fresh everyday, though you may have to wait a bit for some flavors like the original if you go early in the morning. The employees were super kind and very welcoming. I love how they have flavors of the month and switch it up every month. Today, I got the cookie dough which was AMAZING - I got it fresh so it came straight out of the oven and the sauce was nice and melted on the top, where they do a nice addition to each roll and put a pumpkin spiral to the top of each roll. Though the cinnamon rolls were kind of expensive (~$8.50) for each roll, they are definitely worth it and a nice pick me up, or treat to have once in a while! I got the classic cinnamon roll and the hot chocolate roll. The classic is really the perfect cinnamon roll. This review is very overdue. One of several new places specializing in Cinnamon Rolls. They offer several flavors and also offer Cinnamon Roll Challah with a side of Cream Cheese Frosting (what they put on their OG Cinnamon Roll). It's a small shop in the East Village and everyone is friendly and helpful. The challah is my favorite, swirled with lots of cinnamon filling and the frosting is unreal. Ordered from Spirals for an office birthday celebration per my co-workers recommendation. Made sure to plan the celebration for a Wednesday since they only do deliveries Wed - Sun. I exchanged several emails with their customer service which was really helpful in determining the best order for my group size. They were very patient and even included photos in their responses. I ended up ordering 48 minis - 2 dozen in original and 2 dozen of cookies & cream, in addition to two cinnamon roll hallah breads w/ frosting. Everything was delivered right on time and packaged nicely. From the 3 different products, the challah bread was most people's favorite. The original minis were tasty but no one cared for the cookies & cream. They didn't really resemble buns - tasted like a weirdly flavored piece of bread. I had some of one and didn't care for it. All in all, I'm glad we tried this place out. The minis are the perfect size for catering/a party. Came with a friend on a Saturday around 2 pm and there was a line but wait time around 15 min. The staff was lovely and will warm up the rolls if you are going to eat it right away. We got the strawberry matcha roll (available 11/12-11/16) and the pumpkin roll. Each roll was about $9-10, but for the size of the thing I think it's so reasonable. I saw some reviews saying that the rolls are dry but I think they probably got a bad batch or waited too long to eat them. The flavor profile was accurate to each roll. I had low expectations for the strawberry matcha but it was really good, not too grassy and the strawberry glaze on top had the perfect amount of sweetness so it wasn't overly matcha. The pumpkin flavor was also amazing and I love the spice crumbles on top to balance out the heavier glaze. The roll itself was very fluffy and the glaze for each was soaked through so not dry at all. If you are saving it for later, definitely warm it up because I think it makes such a difference to the rolls. We didn't get to try the apple pie or chocolate peanut butter flavors but the people next to us had it and couldn't stop saying "it's so good" so I think all of the flavors are consistently good. Would highly recommend this place for locals and tourists. read more
