Cup of coffee with the biscuits and gravy.

I needed a quick bite in the Cap Hill area, and this place was the closest diner in the area, so I popped in on a whim. It being a Friday morning, the place wasn't too busy and I was greeted with friendly staff and a cozy cottage-core atmosphere. There's just something about listening to classical music with a cup of joe while overlooking Park Ave surrounded by plastic flowers. I don't mean this in a snide way, this place has history and it's not afraid to show it. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. While a lot of diners tend to serve intimating portions, I was presented with a modest biscuit, egg, and about a half cup of gravy. For me this is the perfect portion. The gravy was well-balanced and the biscuit, while not anything amazing, were light, and stood out in the dish. The food knew was it was about and didn't need to impress anybody. For $13 plus tip, this place is a great deal. I'll have to bring some friends here for a good, affordable, and cozy breakfast. This place comes straight out of an early Francis Ford Coppola movie, and I'm here for every second of it.

The food was absolutely phenomenal! How this place has less than 5 stars is beyond me, but I enjoyed the hospitality and the food. Delicious.

Great, clean, lil diner rocking classical music and getting comfort food like only a few can do! Thank you chef Mike and his son Nick. Y'all do great job for the community. The soups are amazing and you'll like everything on the menu!

This little gem is amazing! My wife and I recently visited here on a Saturday morning for brunch. We weren't disappointed! The portion sizes were HUGE, the service was FAST. What else could you wish for?!?! We ordered the cheese omelette with pancakes on a side. The pancakes were very fluffy and delicious and came with strawberries on a side. The gentleman who served us was very polite and welcoming. Will be back soon.

Spices Cafe was the culinary highlight of our entire trip. My group of three came to Spices Cafe for breakfast on an early Sunday morning. Although the reviews warned of long wait times, the cafe was practically empty when we arrived (around 8AM). The early bird gets the worm after all! Menus are situated on a stand by the front door, so we grabbed a few and helped ourselves to table on the quiet European style patio. Shortly thereafter a server dropped off some water and instructed us to order our meals at the register inside. BREAKFAST CROISSANT SANDWICH ($5.25): Everyone ordered this. By itself, the sandwich is vegetarian. My husband and brother-in-law got it with a sausage patty for an extra $1.75. The main ingredients are egg and cheese topped off by lettuce and tomato in a warm flaky croissant bun. The artichoke parmesan cream tied everything in together. I was plenty full by the time I finished this sandwich, but I'd recommend getting a side of fresh fruit or fluffy hashbrowns ($2.25) like my dining counterparts did. 4/5 Spices Cafe is serving up awesome food at reasonable prices in a cute cafe. A great homey café for brunch! This cafe is a small gem on colfax. Feels like a small pop's café with friendly local staff. Don't be tricked by their cost-effective menu! Not only is their food tasty, they also have generous portions. There's limited seating inside. I personally recommend sitting outside during warmer months. They have a cute and quiet outside seating space. Got the granola and yogurt and was impressed by the vanilla yogurt and the generous portions. If you're a vanilla fan, the yogurt is a must-try. Got the denver omelette the next time I went and was again, thoroughly satisfied. Not the fanciest place to get brunch compared to Denver's other cool and hip brunch locations. BUT! If you're ever looking for a quick warm filling option, I highly recommend (:

First time visiting the great state of Colorado, and the city of Denver. Great spot for breakfast. Very home feeling! Fresh ingredients, great coffee. Highly recommended!!!

This place is a real gem I love it! Michael is the best and we always get blt on croissant, with fries and onion rings they are delicious. Also the meatloaf sandwich is worth mentioning and I love the pancakes. It's always super clean and tidy, and the service is great. The food is painfully consistent and always absolutely the best. Sometimes they are closed for catering and I'm so sad. Hit this place up!

The most amazing breakfast food. Best breakfast burrito in Denver! Family owned and it shows. Every time we go it's good. This is a must try!

This was my first Culinary Dropout experience which was on a date night and dinner outing. There was ~45 minute wait for a table as it was "dinner rush hour" before the weekend. We were seated in the bar area at a high top so we were very close to live music performer! So that was an enjoyable portion of the experience! The interior was dimly lit, loud and lively, and offered a rustic but modern feel. Based on this experience, food was overpriced and mediocre. We tried the fish and chips ($23) and fried chicken ($26). We were disappointed the fish and chips were not served with fresh lemon to "baptize" the fried fish. Fries were limp and didn't seem fresh. Also thought the fried fish should have had a crispier crust. The fried chicken was good flavor and texture on fried crust but the white meat was very dry. Mashed potatoes and gravy were lukewarm and not served hot. Also I tried to season the mashed potatoes but the pepper grinder at the table was completely empty. Biscuit was dry, overcooked, and lacked butter. Probably will opt for other options next date night.

Absolutely Exceptional…read more Jack's on Pearl exceeded every expectation. As Texas transplants, we've enjoyed some incredible steakhouses over the years and have traveled extensively, but this was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had. We even drove up from Colorado Springs for our 18th wedding anniversary, and it was worth every mile. We started with the wedge salad, which was fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor--easily one of the best wedge salads we've ever had. The warm bread service was incredible and paired perfectly with the house-made spreads. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and absolutely unforgettable. The highlight of the evening was the Wagyu steak topped with cheesy potato croquettes. It was cooked to perfection and so tender it practically melted in your mouth. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor and was one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. What impressed us most was that every single item we ordered was exceptional. The quality of the ingredients, attention to detail, presentation, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch. After reading some of the reviews beforehand, we weren't sure what to expect. In our experience, this restaurant is incredibly underrated. Our meal, service, and overall experience were outstanding from start to finish. If you're looking for a special dinner, anniversary celebration, or simply one of the best meals you'll have in Colorado, Jack's on Pearl is absolutely worth the visit. We will definitely be back and will be recommending it to friends and family. Thank you to the entire team for making our 18th anniversary so memorable. -- Andrea & Sergio
