Wasn't great. I will go back again. Maybe hit them on a bad day. However, they are nice people and have an outdoor patio.

We have been here at least a dozen times and will keep coming back. It's a little small but the food is wonderful! Between my wife and I we have had most if the breakfast menu and a few lunch options. We have loved everything. It gets busy because it's excellent and you will have to see a hipster or two being hipsters but the food is well worth that pain. If you want a great breakfast for a good price don't miss this place. read more

We are visiting from out of town and I was happy to find this small breakfast place close to our Hotel. I had the veggie omlett (which had a ton of veggies) and my boyfriend had the smothered breakfast burrito. The service was fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you! read more

Spices Café is one of my all-time favorite little restaurants in Denver. The food is always amazing presented very nicely and that very affordable prices. They serve breakfast all day and have an awesome selection of breads and sweets and even a full lunch menu too. My go to is either the breakfast croissant sandwich or the breakfast burrito. I also really like their smoothies. Don't pass this place up and be sure to say hi to Michael if you stop by. read more

I love this place and take all my out of town visitors here. I have a feeling the owner/chief is a perfectionist. He is very formal and polite, which I appreciate. Each ingredient seems to be chosen with great care, very fresh and arranged delicately. Portions are generous, coffee is good and in my option, its all under priced. Ive never had to wait for a table, and enjoy looking out the window at high-top bar. I agree with with other raters that the decor isn't super, but it has a quaint "French" theme, which for me demonstrates the owners love of food. read more

It's with reservation that I write this review. Spices Cafe is one of the best kept secrets on Capitol Hill. The down side for saying good things is that more people will frequent this "Diamond in the Rough" and I may have to wait to find a place to sit. First off, this is not a "Sit down restaurant". Yes they have tables and a counter, but the staff are not wait people. Once you understand that, the dining experience is great. If you've been raised on fast food and expect everything in 15 seconds, and think you're really special, then stay away, you'll end up having an experience like one previous reviewer. Located on Humboldt at the rear of the Streets of London pub/bar, it takes a little effort to find it. The interior is small, but in the nice weather they have a patio you can use. The food is made to order, with a nice presentation. When was the last time you had a sliced strawberry on a breakfast plate at a Capital Hill eatery? The potatoes haven't been sitting on the grill for hours and the bread is fresh and not your run of the mill variety. They have daily specials which they post online. It's simple and it works. I only wish they opened at 8:00 A.M. on weekends instead of 10:00A.M. read more

Good. Feels cozy aside from the Denver artic blast everytime someone opens the door.

I have been going to Spices for years, usually the food has been good. Unfortunately on a recent visit it was awful. I ordered a Ruben sandwich. Big mistake. The meat was tough, dark as if it had been nuked in the microwave too many times. I ended up tossing it. Lesson learned, only order something that has a quick turn over. Eggs, hamburger, etc. This trip was very disappointing. read more

First time here and I ordered take-out. The owners are very pleasant and it's a cozy comfortable place. Went with the $6.95 Farmers salad which consisted of artichokes, avocados, red onion, mushrooms, peppers, celery, eggs and croutons. It was considerably larger than I expected and they didn't scrimp on ingredients. They seem to have good fresh daily specials here. read more

This place rocks...been here once a week for the last month and have been pleasantly surprised each time. Michael and company keep you wondering what taste buds are being used on a given day. Asian to American fare and many in between. Price point is key too, good food that won't break your bank. Try an omelet is you're like me and breakfast deprived most days. Or mix is up with something new. Always an interesting soup duo jour (that's right two of them) and three entrees keep you checking their daily specials. Kudos to Spices for providing a jolt in an otherwise bland day!! read more

Very cool little(and I mean little) diner. There is not much in the way of seating, but it's worth the wait if there is one. You can look at all the vintage cookbooks on the walls until you get a spot. I had a breakfast burrito and they serve it smothered in some really yummy green chile. Also, this place is incredibly cheap - I think my husband and I got out of here with two breakfasts, juice and coffee for around $16. Friendly service too. read more

Got a togo order from here for a breakfast burrito with chorizo. It was very delicious and the portion was huge! I definitely wanna go back and try something else because they seem to have some interesting daily specials read more

After a miserable search for a brunch place that didn't have a 60 minute wait, my boyfriend and I finally stumbled upon Spices Cafe. Inside, the space exudes a home-y feel - just a few tables, Classical music playing in the background, a tiny kitchen, and huge windows overlooking Park Ave. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your seats. The man serving us seemed upset or tired (?) , so I wrote it off and just patiently awaited my food. After a long wait, and a few forgotten orders, the food arrived. My meal was delicious and was certainly prepared with care, but was nothing special that I wouldn't be able to get elsewhere. If you're gonna visit Spices Cafe, come for the food, but keep average expectations for everything else. read more

I got a croissant breakfast sandwich with avocado, and it was delicious! My friends ordered the steak and eggs, and it was like an overdone hamburger. Not the best. I loved mine though. Reasonably priced. Atmosphere is lacking. Nice people and service. read more

Excellent place for quality food and service! We had chipotle beef enchiladas with rice and beans for $3.95. The meal was delicious serving size was perfect. read more

This quaint little hole in the wall is everything you can ask for out of a random breakfast adventure. The cuisine is unique and delightful, never bordering on the strange. Their hot cider was delicious as was the croissant sandwich with artichoke Parmesan spread and their special goat cheese, shrimp, and asparagus omelette. And SO reasonably priced for such quality! Oh, and the lady wants you all to know that the fresh flowers on each table are a wonderful aesthetic touch to the atmosphere. read more

I was thinking this place was more like a restaurant but it is more like a diner. The food was great and cheap but not too exciting. The portions seem to be quite large and for the price makes it a good value! read more

The Denver yelp reviews never cease to amaze me. The breakfast burrito was average. Not worth going back.

A great, inexpensive breakfast spot in Denver with no wait to be seated!? Unheard of! A great find with excellent food and prices. From the looks of it, everything after breakfast is great too. read more

This review is for their catering - I haven't been to the restaurant. Chef Michael arranged some last minute catering for a lunch. I called him on a Thursday night right before a long weekend. With minimal notice he pulled everything together and gave me a menu that was exactly in-line with what I needed (diet/ vegetarian friendly). He was very responsive and prompt through out the process and the lunch was executed as expected. To top it off the food was absolutely delicious! read more

What an awesome little find! We stumbled on this place on a Friday morning around 11 and there were only a few other diners there. The dining room is charming and small but nicely decorated with lots of windows letting in beautiful natural light. The owner served us and he was friendly and helpful. The food was beautifully presented and tasty for sure! I got a vegetarian omelet which was full of onions and green pepper with a side of pancakes and hashbrowns. I would guess the owner is a Libra because everything was just meticulously beautiful in its presentation. Yum! Next time I'm in the area, visiting Spices Cafe again will be on my mind for sure. read more

I'm in Denver this week for a conference. Spices is a short walk from my hotel. Based on the reviews of my hotel's breakfast options, I thought it would be a good idea to venture out for something to eat. I found Spices from a Google Maps search, and I'm glad I did. I went on a Wednesday morning. There was a couple outside in the seating area, and another person inside. The space is intimate, and I appreciated the classical music playing throughout. I ordered the omelet with cheese and hash browns, and chose the option of 2 pieces of toast (you can substitute the toast for pancakes). I'm glad I got the toast or else I would have been too stuffed. The omelet was warm and gooey, the hash browns were slightly seasoned, and the toast (I think it was wheat) was nicely browned. I'm planning to go back for breakfast before I leave Denver. read more

I had the 3egg omelette smothered in green chili with hash browns. It was sooooo delicious for so cheap! Only $8! The portion was large & served nice & hot. Eggs were cooked to perfection(NOT overcooked like most places, including my kitchen). The place definitely has a small business feel & I appreciate that. It has a cute personal touch in the decor. For a small space they have great seating. I sat at the counter facing the window which nice. The flavor of my dish was truly perfect! I will be back many times read more

This place is way too overrated on here... Latte was burnt, breakfast burrito was alright - I've had much better - and the breakfast sausage in my burrito tasted funky. The bacon my boyfriend had was really thin - could have made better at home. His French toast was the best part of the meal. All in all it wasn't terrible but I probably won't be back and I would not recommend it to my friends... There's other much better breakfast spots in town. read more

Spices cafe was the first breakfast place I ever attended in Denver. Cream Cheese blintz were to die for but were a special I am waiting to see again! Today I had another special the corned beef hash and oh my god they did it again!!!! Michael makes you feel at home in Spices and I anticipate brunch here every weekend. There is no menu item you can go wrong with! He even ended our meal with complimentary 4 leaf clover cookies that were also delicious!!! The loose leaf tea is fresh and yummy as well. I would recommend Spices to everyone in Denver!!!!! read more

I really really really wanted to give Spices four or five stars. Everything about it screams "love me, you know you want to" to me. But for now, I think I have to stick with three. Not because anything was wrong, per se... but because nothing was spectacular. Atmosphere - cute little place right behind Scooter's Liquors off Colfax. Small, clean, decorated a bit like someone's aunts house/kitchen. Food - I had the Denver Omelet smothered in green chile, hubs had a turkey/avocado sandwich of some sort. My omelet was ginourmous, and quite tasty. Nicely cooked (I firmly believe cooking eggs well is an art, they have it down pretty well), huge, flavorful. Came with a side of hashbrowns (good) and toast (I think pancakes were also an option.) His sandwich was "fine. You know, a sandwich. Good." Came with onion rings (choice of fries or rings). Also, well priced for the amount of food we got! Service - perfectly nice, but certainly not overly friendly. It was... fine. I think I secretly wanted it to be all super-duper-small-quaint-place-friendly, so I had weird expectations. In conclusion: if you're in the neighborhood and want to avoid some of the bigger/busier places, this is a great place to stop for a quiet tasty meal for a super reasonable price! read more

Great veggie omelette, good sized portions, and a beautiful patio to enjoy the meal on.

Simple atmosphere and good food. Had omelet with green chili. The food was good but green chili could have had a bit more zip to it. Order at the counter and seat yourself makes it a bit awkward so go early or late for better seating. Would go back to try the French toast. read more

Great service quick and friendly. Nice menu options with daily specials. Had the portobello grilled chickens sandwich with fries. Both were very good and the fries were crisp and hot. We also got a coconut pecan and brownie Mmmmmm. We will be back. read more

Great place for breakfast. The restaurant is very inviting with nice music and flowers on the patio. Michael is fantastic! He does it all - cooks, bakes, serves and makes everyone feel welcome. As a graduate of the Culinary Institute, he knows every aspect of the business and it shows. I could spend hours there and to top it off, the food is amazing. Everyone should try this very special place. read more

Huh, maybe we came here on an off day given all the good reviews, but we were thoroughly not impressed. The milkshake was runny, the smoothie was room temperature and just okay, and the service was off putting. The sandwich was decent and the fries were very good. Also, there was a dead bee staring at us from the sugar dispenser. read more

Great food at reasonable prices. On a Sunday at 10am we sat immediately and ate at our leisure instead of waiting at the overpriced/hyped other places for hours. Yummy 5 stars! read more

Well prepared food for a good price and I don't have to wait in line to get a table.

Great place for fresh and perfect breakfast, especially if u r gluten-free. They have gf bread so they can make u what u want and they aren't skimpy about it, either. I had French toast with a side of eggs and bacon. They serve the toast with perfectly fresh berries on top, no corn-based syrups Or nasty drizzle. The waitress is patient and kind so tip well my friends :) read more

Tasty breakfast. Nice patio. No wait Saturday at 10am. This is my kind of place. French toast is delicious. Good green chili.

Very good food, quaint little restaurant everything tastes like it is from scratch. It was a nice find, thanks yelp!

This place is a hidden gem! Came in after a failed attempt at trying to get into a different popular breakfast restaurant and couldn't have been more pleased. I loved that I got my eggs AND my French toast craving satisfied. The menu is perfectly set up in a way that you can have your hearty bacon and eggs along with a sweet sourdough French toast which by the way was delicious! I loved that the menu was organic and fresh! My friend ordered a smoothie and with the kitchen close by we observed how it was made which made our impressions even better. All fresh, real, whole fruits with organic yogurt! The prices were extremely reasonable as well. Awesome to have these healthy and delicious hole in the walls when your visiting a new city! read more

I have been here every time I come to Denver. Every time I have been, the specials have been very unique creations and very delicious. My go to is the Huevos Rancheros, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This location is a little hidden away, but it is very laid back with relaxing classical music playing in the background. This last time, I gave my own order wrong, and the owner fixed my order even though I ordered the wrong thing - free of charge. It is definitely a hidden gem compared to the brunch places with 2 hour waits. read more

The best breakfast spot in Denver! Simple things such as bacon and pancakes are delicious. Not greasy or fatty, lots of flavor with simple recipes. The owner is super nice and so is the staff. We come in a few times a month and it's always consistent. read more

Very few food choices, especially for a GF, very simple menu. Not what I would take for a top 10 restaurant.
